I sat at my table waiting until I was brought a cup of water by a waiter. I slowly sipped it, filling like I was going to die from either the herbs or the hangover. Liano entered and sat at the same table as me. I thought about questioning why, out of all of the tables, he had decided to sit next to me, but I refrained from doing so, as it would have seemed rude.

I listened to what was said by the new member of the conversation, but I had no idea why he wouldn't want to return to this restaurant again. It was a nice place, especially compared to some places I had seen. Then Theriss responded. Whatever had happened must have occurred during the blurry part of the night.

I sipped a larger amount of water, my stomach feeling a little better. And then I heard the last thing Theriss said. The water went spraying out of my mouth, followed by a mixture of choking and laughter. "Ha ha ha... (cough). Just... (Snicker)... Just be careful it isn't you that ends up on the plate. Ha ha. Oh... They could turn this into a story to scare children at night... LoJak and the Beast. Ha ha."

LoJak's mouth split into a wide grin when Theriss told him that she would join him for dinner that night. He had been afraid that she wouldn't - which wouldn't have been very surprising for the leader of the Sarsi. LoJak hoped that the dinner would be an opportunity for Theriss to open up about herself and break free from her stoic shell. To be perfectly honest, LoJak was genuinely eager to get to know more about the woman whose team he had joined.

Suddenly Barthel sputtered out the water he was drinking and laughed.

"Ha ha ha... (cough). Just... (Snicker)... Just be careful it isn't you that ends up on the plate. Ha ha. Oh... They could turn this into a story to scare children at night... LoJak and the Beast. Ha ha."

LoJak turned to look at the Toa that was obviously suffering the effects of a heavy night of drinking.

"Now now Barthel, I hardly think it's appropriate to call a woman a "Beast" and to her face no less, let alone that she is our Team's leader. Then again, I suppose you're not entirely in a right state of mind, not after last night. Might I suggest you have a Bula coffee? One cup alone works wonders on hangovers."

LoJak brought his attention back to Theriss. "So then, I'll meet you at eight o'clock in the restaurant on the corner. It's fancier and more expensive than this place, but the food is significantly better."

Barthel Deliresi. He was a part of her team, but that could very well change in an instant. He had done some things before that had angered her, but this right here was beyond unacceptable. His insulting of her was out of line: She had never done anything that infuriating to him, had she? Sure she had touched him just to bring out his phobias, but that was when his own actions had caused it. What had she done to deserve such terrible insults? Nothing, nothing at all. Barthel was merely pushing the boundaries of her temper, and right now she was already in a bad enough mood.

He was going to suffer. Yes, he would suffer dearly. LoJak had attempted to calm the situation by trying to stop Barthel, but it was already too late for the screamer. But of course, revenge didn't necessarily mean violence, there were far more entertaining ways for her to punish Barthel's sheer rudeness to the leader of the Toa Sarsi. She had something that she could use to cause him endless misery.

"That sounds quite acceptable to me, I know the place you speak of. I've been there quite a few times before... but now it's a little too far outside of my price range." She remained calm all throughout, though her eyes never moved from Barthel. If he didn't have a cold chill going up his spine already, the slight smile forming on her face would certainly cause it.

She calmly rose from her chair and walked over behind Barthel's. She placed a hand gently down upon his shoulder, fully expecting the Toa of Metal to go into his unmoving panicked state. Then she turned towards Liano, a cold smirk on her face. "Liano, how many women do you think you could convince to come in here and place a hand on our friend Barthel?"

  • IC: Geklan - Ga-Koro

Geklan had spent a good hour or so that morning trying to do paperwork, but he found himself too distracted. While his bad mood had dissipated, he was still puzzled over how Theriss had managed to discover a weakness of his that he hadn't known of again. She had a talent for it- much like his talent for annoying her.

Though he hated to admit it, it also went a bit deeper than that. Geklan had envisioned Theriss glaring at him, silently swearing vows of vengeance while pulling small tricks like dumping the glass of water over his head. Instead, she'd actually been upset by it, which had caught the Lesterin off-guard. Overnight, he had managed to convince himself that it was because he saw bringing the chair in as harmless and that was why her reaction surprised him- which was more-or-less true. He still firmly believed that he couldn't care less about her otherwise, though.

Either way, he felt reluctant about meeting Theriss again anytime soon. Unfortunately, he didn't have much choice- the Matoran he sent out hadn't found the restaurant, apparently, so he'd have to deliver the Sarsi's cut himself. So, Geklan decided to do what he did best: Talk and pretend nothing had ever happened.

"Going out to an expensive place? This'll help," he said, his usual large (and fake) grin plastered on his face as a bag of widgets sailed toward the chair beside Theriss. It was as if he had appeared out of nowhere- which, considering the Mask of Concealment dangling from one of his hands, was fairly probable. "Your cut of the profits. Not a ton of money, but promising. Oh, I apologize for my sudden disappearance last night. I suddenly remembered a very important meeting, and couldn't wait around to say goodbye."

With a glance at Barthel, he added, "Please don't. A repeat of interview day would be bad for sales."

I was still coughing some from the water, but I was in a very good mood now despite my horrendous headache. Next LoJak started to scold me, unsurprisingly, as he was the one asking Theriss on a date. "One thing you must remember, even if I was in my right mind, she would still seem like a monster worse than any Rahi to me. And we're supposed to be heroes and such. Isn't only natural for a hero to be honest?"

I chuckled a little more before pulling my handkerchief out of a pocket and wiping some of the water off of myself. "And I also already tried one supposed hangover remedy today, I don't think another would be in my best interest at the moment. Besides, I don't drink coffee. That stuff is bad for yooooouuuuuu..." My sentence stretched out becoming an illegible squeal of terror.

Theriss must have moved when I wasn't paying attention, and now held my shoulder in an imprisoning clutch from which there was no escape. Unlike many of the other times she tormented me so, I really had this one coming, even if it wasn't for a good reason. However, it had been completely worth it. And then she asked Liano to do something unspeakable. I looked at him, a pained look upon my face begging him to refuse.

  • IC: Theriss

As Geklan entered, Theriss became very quiet, not saying a single word. She merely watched as he threw the bag of money near her. She didn't have anything to say to him, he and his insufferable grin. He had sent her into a fury the night before, and now he decided to show up with a large grin upon his face, as if nothing at all had happened? It was almost as infuriating as the event itself, a sign of wretched smugness and his own thoughts of superiority. The fact that those had described herself not that long ago was something she tried to force from her thoughts.

It was then that she noticed her grip had been steadily tightening on Barthel's shoulder as her anger had increased. No, even what he had done was nothing to the pain Geklan had instilled with a single action. All the insults Barthel could think up would not be able to match the sheer impact of having her own chair presented before her as a token of conquest. Barthel was merely a small annoyance to her temper, but she could easily do something to stop him, Geklan had no such weakness.

So why then, did the anger she was feeling has this mixture of sadness somewhere inside it? Once, Geklan had been willing to help her, even supporting her a little on her original rise to wealth, but now he merely stood aside and mocked her with his presence. He had changed so much since then, becoming colder, more vicious in his scams. His whole attitude had seemed to shift as his wealth had increased. Had the money done the same to her? No, of course not. She was stronger than Geklan, the money had only made her better. Instead of stealing it from people, she had given it away as loans. She had been helping others, not harming them.

She stopped, trying to calm herself as best she could, before slowly removing her hand from Barthel's shoulder. She looked down at the Toa of Iron with a face that was clearly on the edge of breaking out of its serene facade. But what direction would the emotions it held back go? "I hope this will have inspired in you some sort of respect for the other members of this team. Otherwise, I will have to do it again."

Theriss eventually let up her assault, removing the instrument of torture from me. I was still breathing heavily, and my emotions on the edge of breaking. She had tortured me for much longer then my harmless jokes had deserved, but I could calm down. I had to calm down.

And then she made a comment that sent my emotions in a complete reverse from the terror and sorrow I had been feeling. "Do you even know why I view you as such a horrible monster? It's because you torture me in the most cruel way possible, every single time I do something that displeases you! You have no idea what it is like, to have the worst thing you can imagine constantly being forced upon you! Someone continuously taking what you fear most, and exposing you to it for small mistakes, or because you make a few jokes!"

I was fuming, releasing some of the anguish that had been building up within me for an extended period of time. "It is not my fault that I can't live a normal life like all of you! It is not my fault that I can't interact with others! Yet you all seem to find it as some humorous fault that you can exploit whenever you feel like it! Well It is not funny!"

I stormed out of the restaurant, my anger still consuming any rational thoughts I might have been having. I proceeded to make my way back to the inn were I was staying, and flopped down into the bed with a muffled scream. Why do you always love to do this sort of thing to me? Why Fate? Why!?

  • IC: Geklan - Ga-Koro

Theriss had received the money with icy silence, which Geklan took as a bad sign. If Theriss Durim isn't even slightly cheered by a bag of widgets, then you know you're in trouble.

He watched in uncharacteristic silence as Theriss and Barthel argued about something or other, some joke he'd just missed or something. Had anyone looked his way, they would have noticed him scribbling down some notes on a tablet.

What? You never know what can boost profits. Maybe necklaces or bracelets or something small that people could buy to show support for one or the other. Theriss would kill him, but the money that could be made...

  • OOC: Liano didn't have any alcohol the other night, he's only irritated by light due to his subterranean nature (element of earth) :P

    IC: Liano

Oh boy, I've only been here for a few minutes and things are already getting real ugly, real fast. No one gets up to do anything when Barthel throws his fit, and I sigh. I really don't want to yet I still get up to chase after him, leaving Geklan behind to take up the role of third wheel. LoJak and Theriss? On a date? What's up with that?

Deliresi leads me all the way to an inn, presumably the one he's staying at, and when I find myself standing at the door of his room, a sudden wave of stupidity hits me. I haven't a clue what to say to him, nor any idea how in Karz I'm going to cheer him up. What plan did I possibly have that would help? Of all people, I'd be the last one to have one entirely. Do I even care enough to deal with this?

Whatever, I'm here now so might as well get this show on the road. I knock on the door, three raps executed in quick succession before I speak.

    ...

    ...

    ...

Nothing, she just stared on blankly into the space where Barthel had been standing before his outburst. She didn't move, didn't speak. The look on her face was somewhere between her usual calm and utter shock. Her mind raced through the events to try to understand what had just happened, and tried several more times when it did not like the outcome.

She knew that Barthel was afraid but she had never really grasped the extent of just how far his fear reached. Clearly it had been taking a very heavy toll upon him, even if she hadn't noticed. Since right before the team had formed, that had been her choice of ways to keep him under control. All it took to stop any incorrect action was a light touch, and he seemed to instantly stop. If all that it took to send him into a panic was a simple touch, how bad could it possibly have been when she had clutched his shoulder or gripped his arm?

She had been tormenting him terribly, enough that it caused him to storm off. She had never expected such an outburst, especially not from Barthel, but it appeared he wasn't merely jokes and a rival to Voulge. That seemed uncomfortably familiar to the events of the night prior. Only, at that time she had been the one leaving to release her anger. But, would that mean that in this situation, she had played the part of Geklan in her own anger? No, it had to be wrong. She wasn't like Geklan, she didn't torment people just because she could. She hadn't known that Barthel would react in such a way, or she never would have done it.

She was merely mistaken in her actions, Barthel had caused his own torment every time, despite the fact that he clearly was quite horrified by the result. He was the one that wouldn't learn, it was not her fault that the methods had been unintentionally too extreme. Why hadn't he said something earlier, made some sort of response that it was a punishment beyond the crime? If it had really bothered him so much, it was his own fault that he did nothing to stop it, and now he was dealing with the consequences.

He had brought it upon himself, she was of no blame at all. That was the thought she tried to force through her mind, though it met much resistance of blame and hints of guilt. As she struggled her hardest to fight them off, Liano had left after Barthel. Should she do the same, apologize to him for what had come of his own actions? No, she had nothing to blame herself for...

She walked over to the seat where Geklan had thrown the Sarsi's cut of their profits, before dumping the coins out onto the table. This was what she was here for, what the Toa Sarsi were made for. It wasn't about creating a true team, or making friends. It was about regaining what had been taken from her, reclaiming her power and wealth to return to the top. They were only around to help her earn her money, then she would be finished with them. This too, she kept repeating in her head, as she solemnly began counting the money.

The Skakdi prison guard stared hard at the poster. A village of Skakdi. He might have liked to join it. Keeping the peace would be a necessary measure, especially with so many members of his species in one place (which honestly was never a very good idea). But he was perfectly content with his work here in Ga-Koro. He was the best guard they had and he knew it.

I heard knocking on my door, and the voice of Liano. At that time I was still too overcome with anger to be thinking in a fully rational way. I rolled over so what I said would not be muffled. "What? You come to try to get me to apologize to her?" I asked with a little venom in my voice. "Sorry, but I am just sick and tired of her doing that to me. She can go to Karzahni for all I care."

I rolled back over, not waiting for a response. My head had still been pounding, and all that anger was just making it worse. You ever have one of those days where you know you never should have gotten out of bed that morning? Well that was one of those for me. Been there, done that, never again. I also happen to feel really bad after I hurt someone's feelings. Sometimes. Not really. If anything, let's just say we don't need another fight on our hands.

"You don't have to apologize." I began, easing some sense of comfort into my voice. "Let me in."

Eutuchia, who was currently sitting and working in that very same office-hut (there'd been a wall of 'filed' papers made to separate the part of it that was personal space from work space) looked up, and saw Helios approaching . With a frown, he stood, moving over to the entrance and opening it up prior to the Toa's even being able to knock.

"May I help you?" he asked the Toa, not unkindly. After all, it was partially his job to also greet visitors and try and help them with what they needed if it didn't concern the Akiri overmuch. Sometimes it was boring, sometimes it was funny, sometimes he just pulled out his ukulele and played for waiting people because Hahli was busy.

Basically, what I wanted is to ask Akiri Hahli if there's anything a wandering Toa could do to help out. If there's anything you needed help with, I'd be happy to lend a hand."

"I know that it's always nice to have more marines able to go out and patrol, and keep the peace," Eutuchia said, shrugging. "Especially after that assassination attempt a few months ago. I don't want to have a repeat of that, because I neither want to see Hahli hurt nor get hurt again myself." He turned, moving back towards his desk - an actual desk, thank goodness, that he could use to properly keep things filed and working and what-not - before opening one of the compartments and rummaging through it, pulling out a form to join the Marines.

"Other than that, I don't really know, as I haven't been given a specific skillset from you. It depends on what you can do, really, though if you want you can always ask around. I'm sure there are private entities that might want help, too."

"As for what I can do. Well; I have the basic skills that are expected of a Toa. I can fight, I'm pretty good with my Element and Mask, but I'm assuming you already guessed that."

Helios trailed off, mumbling something along the lines of "what else?" before his face lit up.

"A craftsman?" Eutuchia asked, raising an eyebrow. After a moment, he turned back to the desk, pulling out a few different things entirely. Contracts and such as that, for the greenhouses, the marine HQ, land development nearby, there were quite a few of them. He set them down for Helios's perusal, before leaning back in his chair to talk about them.

"Alright, so, the details are found in there, but here are the basics: We always need more general maintenance people for the greenhouses and the docks - the upkeep on them is a constant process, after all. And, perhaps, expansions could be created later. Now, that might not be your cup of tea, but you could probably manage. Aside from that, the Koro's population is expanding all the time." Eutuchia winked, smiling.

"So we're looking to build some extra homes out on unused pads, or maybe build up an apartment complex or such on the beachfront. You could work for that or furnishing the space, and the Marine HQ could use similar. There are unused offices that could use furnishing and a bit of upkeep, making sure they're still holding together, and some of the cells as well, and if you're good with boats, there are more than enough jobs there." The Matoran of Plantlife smiled, slightly.

"Basically, you've got a lot of options, though I must warn you: If you help out with the greenhouses, you will have a couple marines with you at all times, as a security precaution, and in the case that somebody decides to harm the greenhouses or do something in them without permission, while you aren't expected to defend them, we would dearly appreciate it if you would." He sat up, leaning forward towards the Toa.

"How do those work for you?"

"You just need to make sure nothing's falling apart, maybe build some new stands and such for more plants in the ones that still have space. That sort of thing."

"Then it's settled" Helios replied with a polite nod.

"Where do I refer to?" he asked.

"Fill out the contract here, and then I'll write a message for you to take over to the Marine HQ," the Matoran of Plantlife said, handing the Toa before him a pen and a little bottle of ink. "Whoever is running the front desk over there will tell you when you need to come in and everything like that." He held out the greenhouse contract to Helios, before taking the others and stacking them up, putting them in a folder.

"Also, I recommend you take these with you and think about them. After all, the greenhouses don't require work every day, and there's still a lot more for a good craftsman to do."

Helios picked up the contract, and just barely managed to save the other blueprints from rolling off the counter. He stopped for a second, apparently in deep thought, then he put the contract down and looked at Eutuchia.

"Is this a bad time to mention that my craftsmanship mainly centered around disk making?" he asked.

"Is this a bad time to mention that if you can form bamboo into a shape like that without trouble you'll probably be fine with working with wood in more normal manners?"

For a second or two, Helios professional attitude kicked in.

"Now, wait a just a minute; proper disk making is a wee bit more complica..." then he stopped himself, swallowed and nodded politely at Eutuchia.

"I get it" he said simply

"One last question, though. How long is this contract binding?" Helios asked.

"You can quit at any time you wish," Eutuchia said, before smiling. "And yes, I know that diskmaking is more complicated than making shelves or working on walls or such. That's why I think that you'll be able to do fine. If you know how to use a hammer and nails and not ruin the wood, of course."

"Then I guess that settles that" he said, nodding politely (again) at Eutuchia, and put his name on the contract.

"The Marine's HQ is down by docks, correct?" he asked.

  • IC-Eutuchia:

"Near to it, yes. And I don't know who'll be there, it might be Naria, or Iraira, or any other Marine." Eutuchia shrugged.

"Have a good day, and I hope your work goes well - ...Wait, I almost forgot." Smiling sheepishly, Eutuchia pulled out a piece of paper, jotting down a quick message on it for whoever was at the desk of the HQ, before putting it in a small envelope and handing it to Helios as well.

    "There, now you can go."

"Nothing much." Rhow replied, truthfully. She shrugged, her spine-fins slightly bending with the movement. "Got a couple of customers, but they're all eating quietly. It's just a slow day."

Then, she remembered something. She'd almost forgotten it over preparing lunch-service and cleaning the submerged cooler earlier. "Did you see the sign pinned at mainsquare this morning?" she asked. Iraanus raised an eyebrow. "Huh?" he asked; which sounded growly. Rhow moved her head, indicating the far side of the room with her chin, implying the main-square of the village located outside in that direction.

"Somebody posted a big scrawly note. Wants to make a Koro for our lot. Just Skakdi. Mad fool, we barely got enough grinners to run this business."

LoJak watched as the situation grew completely out of control in just a few seconds, knowing that his involvement in the heat of the moment would only worsen things. He saw Barthal run out and Liano follow after him, leaving only LoJak and Theriss behind in the inn, much as things had been only a few minutes before.

Except now Theriss was silently counting over the bag of widgets the Sarsi's financial partner had given over. She said nothing of the incident, as if her entire concentration was focused on the Team's meagre profits. LoJak suspected otherwise - he knew all too well how common it was to throw oneself towards a singular goal when faced with overwhelming circumstances.

"It seems Barthal has a greater phobia of women than any of us realized" LoJak said to Theriss, letting her know that is was not her alone that bore the fault for the explosive conversation. "Perhaps in the future, we can all be a little more considerate of that, don't you think?"

"Did somebody say a 'big, scrawly note?'" Destian growled, shoving open the door and walking in. In his hand was clutched that very same note, his claws having slightly punctured the end of it; and with a simple gesture that, if his livid, angry expression did not convey the rage he felt, it would. He had known that this blasted fool would go off and continue to do something stupid, though he hadn't made his thoughts known at the time...but now here was the proof that his unspoken arguments were right. And now he was very, very angry that he hadn't made those arguments known.

"It's that same one that was advocating 'murder of all the Toa' and stupid stuff like that before, too. Vhohan." He grabbed the end of the table, his claws digging into - and helping splinter - the wood in his grasp as he leaned in towards Rhow and Iraanus. "Now, I don't know about the two of you, but my vote is that as soon as we find this little whelp, we rip him apart and feed him to the very same fish that our place is named for."

I tried to calm myself, breathing in deep breaths. Next, I rose from my bed and walked over to the door. I opened it to stare Liano in the face before continuing or conversation. "Sorry if I snapped at you. I'm just having a miserable day." I walked over to the chair in my mostly bare room and sat in it.

"But I would appreciate you talking to Theriss for me. I did leave on bad terms, and I would like to make certain that she has no intention of kicking me out of the team for my outburst." I was still very tense, and my head was still pounding. I was clearly not fit to smooth over relations with Theriss myself at the time.

Voulge wiped as his brow slightly as Crasaro and him walked along the sands of the bay while voulge kept Vail up off the ground with his element. Yet he could feel the strain of keeping him afloat and he looked over at Crasaro

"So you think now is a good time to dunk him and cool him down?"

"Noted." I said, permitting myself to step inside now that the door's open. As I leaned back, I rested on the wall adjacent from the room's opening, eyes wandering elsewhere in their observation of Barthel's temporary home. Well, I assumed it was temporary.

Having quelled (somewhat) his earlier outburst along with its leftovers, he seemed much more subdued now. That put me at ease, it made my job easier, especially considering I already suck at this. Which, of course, obviously showed since for an extended period of time, awkward silence floated about, filling the air with a whole lot of nothing and not enough talking. I also caught myself staring at him, eyes boring uncomfortably into his own.

Still, nothing's worse than my stupendously direct delivery of words.

    "Why are you afraid?"

Voulge nodded slowly as he heard this. He tightened his grip on his element and vail and proceeded to temporarily dunk Vail into the ocean then brought him out just as quick
