    Attention folks

We have a new player called Phantom Terror. Now someone might have noticed that he's started RPing without making a profile to go with it. I encourage you all to be as accepting and helpful as you can. I've taken the trouble of already advising him to read the rules and whatnot.

Very admirable effort, but you probably shouldn't use such large text. :P

  • Anyways, remember yesterday I said something about people who hates the lack of unity and proceed to announce their dislike by blowing stuff up?Anyone interested in forming (And leading!) such a group? Drae, I think Trivzan wanted it or something...? :)

Huh? Oh. Yeah! Except Trizvan is against the expansion of technology. He could care less about lack of unity.

  • Ah, I come back to quite an admirable post by Nuju. While I'm sad that this doesn't include domestic technological advancement (because by George does Po need something to compete), I'm not upset, because eh, nothing important has been lost, so there's no need to fight to keep it. As for his comments on the Old BZPRPG, I agree wholeheartedly about his comments, assuming that they strictly apply to Locus Abeo and Aensetr Derrum. The Santun War was as full of overpowered characters and rulebreaking as anything, but it had some amazing character arcs as well. Heck, I think we even had a love triangle or two way back in The Academy. For the record, this is why I support people writing romantic relationships between PCs. It might not be the best relationship, heck it might be really stupid, but dark secrets and fighting do not a character make.

Anyway, kudos Nuju, you've just solidified your position as "the best GM the BZPRPG has ever seen" in my eyes.

  • *post here* See y'all on Mata-Nui. :)

Nuju was introduced to the game during the Locus Abeo stage, if I remember right, and also was important in the Aesetr Derrum stage, so rampant whimsy and strained relations were commonplace then. You must not have done much to keep your finger on the pulse of the game those years but I know there was constant conflict. On Abeo certain people were taking advantage of everything they had and were finagling a lot, particularly towards the end of the year, and on Derrum we had the near-disastrous phase of guilds and contesting egos. They were dark times to be sure, and as someone who was already an experienced GM during those days I could certainly feel the tension was not healthy. Were there responsible players? Of course, but we weren't all angels and I think, regrettably, that Nuju was a part of the new, impressionable crowd surrounded by ruthless veterans and it was from those experiences that he based his judgement.

    Attention folks

I thank you for stepping up to the plate and being a mentor and advocate; it's appreciated. I'm not quite the stickler for this as much as Nuju is, but...

[...] you probably shouldn't use such large text. :P

BIG CHARACTERS and such are reserved for staff announcements and the like, so just keep that in mind. Thanks!

Don't worry about reading them all. If I were you, I'd just read the ones that are relevant to you, part of a story that you are following, or ones that seem to be about an important event. Reading every post made in this RPG is... pretty much impossible. :P

Indeed. I wasn't around during the "glory days" of the first BZPRPG story. I arrived during its dying throes. :P I didn't mean to disrespect anyone with my post, Tahakki; I was just sharing my thoughts on the general trends at the time, and the culture of the game back then. If I was criticizing anybody, it was my former self - I used to be one of the worst offenders of powers-before-personality ideal.

Ah, see, I never played on Abeo at all, and by the time Taragii, Hua and Yuki made their way to Derrum the game was pretty much halfway to the grave. Posting felt like a chore rather than something enjoyable back then - you and the other staff have worked wonders in breathing vitality back into the game. :)

  • I think all that needs to be said about Locus Abeo can be summed up in one of its worst excesses: "ONE BILLION FOHROK."

EDIT: Afore I get thwacked for being off topic, I post this so that everyone knows what kind of ridiculous stuff went on back in Locus Abeo.

At least you could manage and lead an organization. If I remember correctly, I had an organization that was merely a front for me to attain the oh-so coveted 'Unlimited NPCs' privilege. And with those unlimited NPCs, I had plans to conquer the island, make my Makuta Emperor, and all that. I was so caught up with power-hungry madness I turned down an offer to join the largest baddie group out their.

And as it turned out, I learned not to send 150 Rahkshi towards the firing range of Tuck's laser-armed airships...

  • In this new age of the BZPRPG, I have found myself, yet again, void of new interaction. I have plans, of course. But it's all the same: continuations from last season. That is why I am sending this plea: interact with me. I have Liacada open (she killed a Turaga, so someone must be after her, right?) I have Kellsomn (someone needs a police officer in Ta-Koro at some point) and until soon I have Veira. Nothing special for her just yet.

  • Dear All,

Hey everyone. It is with a maturing of my responsibilities in real life that I make this announcement. I have to cut down my number of playing characters to focus more on my novel, and my general life as well. That said, I am going to keep four to five characters, and intend to have only two characters in the next six months. Please PM me your suggestions as to which characters I should keep, as it will greatly influence my final decisions.

Population decrease aside, I look forward to continuing to play this game with everyone. So far I’ve read some great stuff, and have loved Ilyusha’s surprise use of words. He’s already forced me out of my chair and rushing to the tome of definitions on my shelf for comprehension, let alone pronunciation. I LOVE THIS. Keep it up man, and I hope to see more expanding my knowledge of the English (or American) language.

Nuju, I will assume the concept of player-controlled faction Akiri is your idea and say, “AWESOME PLAN!” So far, I have seen some very interesting starts with the matoran leaders. I also love the way you’ve set the game up for players to get technology for their PCs by asking another player to ask you. It breeds interaction and a closer sense of player-interaction. At least for me it does. Anyway, thanks and great job so far into the year.

At Javert: What’s going on with the ILF? Since they got trounced, and now Makuta’s gone, how are they going to spring back and become a great power of mercenaries/paladins on this island? I really want to see what you and all Kethrye’s followers decide to do. Keep at it!

At friends and players all: let’s start a kohlii match. I’m serious.

    Sincerely,

    Kughii

    Kughii, first, post in Ga-Wahi.

    Everybody else: Post in general.

I agree with this sentiment. I just have to decide on who's getting shelved.

I'd like to add, that of course, romantic relationships are not the only interesting and creative relationships you can create between characters. Friendships can be just as genuine and complex.

Also, Talli is irritated, as usual.

*briefly considers turning Zeal back to Kinetics by way of quick retcon*I think I might have to uncharacteristically pass on this opportunity, actually. I kind of like Zeal as he is now, he really did need some character development, anyway.Public Opinion Time: Do you think a Toa of Kinetics would fit in this current version of Mata Nui like he did the last? Or should he stay how he is?

I was the one that actually I shot down. I don't remember which one of us approved it, but this is one power I do not want in the game.

Tuck saying outright no? Unusual, yes, but I have my reasons ;) Sorry, but it'll be clear later.

All good, wasn't too sure about it anyway-

  • So, are characters like Trizvan (who is awesome by the way), i.e. "Defenders of Nature", allowed? Maybe after I finish my personal arc with Ogeka and Uitad I may want to try one of those.

Also, how are stores/trading caravans run? I recall a mention on the front page that users have to complete a task to get purchases, but if I had, say, a talented inventor selling his creations, is there a limit on what I can sell and how I can sell it, like no weapons or something? Just so I know before Ogeka goes on a rocket-powered advertising campaign (literally :P). This is going to be so fun!

  • The policy on Po-Koro trading caravans is that if Hewkii knows you can't harm the Koro, or if he trusts you enough not to, you can go.

  • If you want to have a character run a store, go for it. Just say they're open for business, and if people want to interact, they will come and trade.

As for what you can and can't sell, and tech above what we had last year (foreign or native) is off limits for now. Nuju has stated that native tech might be sellable later on, and then some sort of task will need to be completed (I imagine that details will follow when such trading becomes legal). Kanohi can't be produced and sold either, but apart from that, you can sell any other commodity present on Mata Nui.

  • The Great Takea is fine, there just aren't many people going for it, the Lavapool Inn was originally single-player-opened and run (and is such again), and the Crucible would've worked well if I'd promoted it more. xP After that, I've noticed that a few of my friends still seem fond of the Bright-Star Inn in Le-Koro, another thing I created. So, no, you won't have a bad time so long as there's a need for whatever there is. : P
