This was hardly justice. Chekquars either wanted to about Exxan or wanted credit with Tridax for turning in the arsonist, Exxan hoped to prove that he was an effective leader, and Rider was in it for revenge. The concept, not the Rahkshi. Of all of them, only Squid seemed to actually care about improving the lives of the students of Corpus Rahkshi.

Jayar sighed. He knew he would get nowhere, but he had a duty to justice, and if he had to fight for it, he would.

"This isn't justice," he declared. "This is an assembly of self-interested vigilantes. Can we not look past the petty rivalries, power struggles, and desire for revenge to seek out a solution? Not revenge, not necessarily punishment, but a solution which will benefit as many, and harm as few, as is possible."

"What do you think this is?" Exxan asked Jayar. "That's why I asked for him to be brought here, so you can decide among yourselves what to do with him. Apart from maybe Chekquars over there, no one here is interested in power struggles. I may not speak for everyone here, but I don't want revenge. Just justice. I want you all to decide among yourselves what kind of punishment befits this crime. I want you all to prove to the me, to yourselves, and to the people running this place, that we are capable of making our own decisions, taking responsibility for our own actions.

He sighed. "If that's too much to ask for, then perhaps I'm wasting my time trying to help you all."

"We definitely should destroy his fire-creation tools. That is a good start. I would also say to draw up a watch schedule so that there is someone watching him whenever possible to make sure he doesn't make more tools or more fire. Banning him from the library seems needless as long as he cannot spark fires," Abyssium said from his position by the chair, making sure the pyromaniac doesn't try to escape.

He dealt the cards to Omega and himself and looked over his 26 cards...

Karz...He didn't know if he could lie to a friend, so he decided, in his head of course, that it would be a good strategy to simply tell the truth.

He took his 2 aces and placed the cards face down between them.

    "Two aces. Your turn."

"I agree with the destruction of his for equipment," said Jayar. "And, to an extent, the watch officer idea. I feel it would be more effective if we could have one Rahkshi watch him, treating him with kindness, so as to form a sort of bond with him, so that they might even be able to convince him not to start fires in the first place," he continued. "Of course, this would be a large commitment. I would not wish to force it upon anyone, so I must ask for volunteers." He knew that if his plan has been accepted before, it would surely be rejected at 'volunteers,' but he had to try.

He looked at Omega again and couldn't tell if he was lying. He didn't want to call Cheat so early, but looking through his hands...he did have 1 four, and he had no fives...he could lie or call Cheat, both would probably result in Omega actually telling the truth and Bullseye the one to take all the cards. He decided to go with the former decision, took a 6, and put it face down.

  • IC: Root - Library

With a final flourish, Root completed his written adventures according to Suvak's instructions. He gazed down to admire his handiwork, a small smile playing at his face.

You have been captured by a Frostelus raiding party and are imprisoned upon one of their iceberg city-ships. Your prison is in the centre of the glacier, surrounded on all sides by the fearsome warriors. How do you escape and return to civilisation?

What misfortune! Our noble hero has found himself captured by the devilish Frostelus, his staff and all hope taken from him! The Frostelus have left him to perish in his misery! But what is this? Our hero has one last trick up his carapace! He whips out the small sprout and quickly locates (or creates) a small crack in his prison. Glancing around to ensure he is not observed, his powers flow through the plant, accelerating its growth into the crack! The plant expands as it grows, pressing against the ice to crumble it. Should his exploits be overheard, he is ready with a newly-created vine whip to fend off his foes! He snaps it in their faces with a hearty laugh, then plunges into his escape, creating new branches on the plant where a new exit is required and fending off the Frostelus with it! Another burst of his power creates a small shield to block incoming Rhotuka, and if they cut through it, he can grow another! At last, his metal components feel the cool darkness of the outdoors, and he is able to fly to freedom.

You were part of Spiriah’s guard on Zakaz, and in the Revolution have been driven from his lab. You have with you one fellow Rahkshi, of the Power Scream genus and not possessing enhanced mental capabilities as you do, who has been heavily injured during the fight, to the point that they’re having trouble walking and cannot fly. What is your evacuation strategy?

We find our hero in a desperate flight from angry Skakdi, the only hope of his poor injured companion! Using a rough sled of vines, he has been able to move away from immediate danger, but it is too slow to keep them out of the clutches of their adversaries! A hero could never consider leaving another behind, even one as base as this. Thinking quickly, our hero takes cover and uses his power to create camouflage, where he and his companion can wait out the attack and he can tend to the other's injuries. Their small, temporary abode appears to be a mere bush to the Skakdi, and they ignore it in their rampage. As they move on to attack other areas, our hero tears down the plants and uses them to make a better sled to take the injured Rahkshi to a safer location.

Yes, worthy of... that one Toa Mangai whose name escapes him, to be sure. With that out of the way, Root turns the pages in to Suvak and returns to watch the trial. From a safe distance, of course. These Rahkshi talk of merely reforming the offender, as if it were possible. A villain was always a villain in his stories, and deserved to be treated as such. No specific punishment came to mind... perhaps drawing and quartering... but Root remained silently in the background, not overly eager to speak his mind.

    OOC: Root open to interaction.

He's pretty much my only open character right now. :D Tube's asleep, Fang's just about passed out, and Hoto's just listening to Mahrika.

    Infirmary, RE: Infirmary Occupants

Mahrika was starting to feel stressed. If these Rahkshi didn't take the Visorak seriously they could die! Did they not understand that?

"Don't you realize these Visorak are there to watch us? They're waiting for students to try and leave the school, probably ordered to maintain a surveillance net on Nyrah and identify runaways for Tridax. A Rahkshi might be able to escape a few Visorak, but not the Brotherhood's agents!"

That had come out harsher than Mahrika had intended. He turned away and scowled, hitting the wall with one hand and digging his claws into it. Then he pulled them free and watched the stone heal itself.

"I know, I'm making a fool out of myself." He turned back to the other students. "But I couldn't let you go out there and die."

Era gave Mahrika a blank look - very easy to do since she didn't have any eyes. "You're getting all worked up over nothing," she said sternly, "Tridax is the Makuta of Nyhrah. It makes perfect sense for him to have troops stationed on the island that he's supposed to be protecting. Now, if the Visorak were on this island, stopping us from crossing the Causeway and going to the mainland, then I might consider what you're saying."

Zivon fluttered up onto her shoulder, squawking happily. "I was on the island less than an hour ago, and I didn't see any spiders." Her serious tone made it clear that she wasn't in the mood for any blind jokes. "If there are Visorak on the mainland, they're not there because of us. In fact..." she started walking towards the door, "...I'm going to go prove it."

  • IC: (Torch/Library)

Torch idly read a book on the history of Zakaz while everyone started shouting at each other. It really was quite interesting how the rebellion leader Krazok had taken inspiration from the ancient skakdi warrior Xekkaan when planning his battle tactics.

Although he wasn't really listening, Torch heard mention of throwing his tools away quite a few times - that Karzdamned "Kick" had already thrown all the matches and lighters into the sea earlier, and as for the flamethrower...well it was lucky he had hidden the second one in kit form on Nynrah.

Why wouldn't they hurry up? Torch was getting hungry and this really was quite boring, however interesting the Makuta Mortirax's Complete History of Zakaz and its Inhabitants book was.

Era can't go alone. Even with sight, Visorak are sneaky and would be difficult to avoid. But...

"I'm coming with you," Hoto suddenly stated.

Fang nearly jumped out of bed at that. He sat up suddenly and cried out "NO!" before wincing and sinking back onto the sheets. "You... can't go alone... you would need..." He stopped himself. There was no way to say this without offending them.

"Oh come on! It's not like you can stop me!" Hoto replied. "I think it's up to Era to decide."

Hoto knew what Fang had been about to say, and she resented it. But she couldn't help admitting it was true. Echolocation could only work so well in a forest. It was easy to dismiss something as a tree or a bush. They needed someone who could see. She waited for his and Era's responses.

    IC: Fang - Infirmary

Fang thought Bullseye's offer over. He had been out of line on Nynrah, but he still wasn't sure he could trust Bullseye to protect these two. He was brave and cautious, that was true, but where did his allegiance lie?

In the end, Fang could only shrug painfully. "I cannot... tell you... It's... Era's decision."

    IC: Root - Library

Root's heroically long patience was at its end! This villain didn't deserve the fair damsel to watch over him, nor a mere destruction of his tools! There could be only one way to protect the Library indefinitely from the flame's wrath!

He boldly stepped forward, pushing through the crowd right up into the face of the arson. The devil was calmly reading of all things as his fate was decided! Root smacked the book down and spat on the Rahkshi, before standing tall in the center. The attention had to be on him, so he would make use of it! But alas, proud speeches to throngs of Rahkshi did not come easily to our hero, and he stooped down, stuttering once more. He had to get a proper sentence, stuttering or not.

    "N-n-no! Let th-th-this villain d-d-die! To p-p-protect our b-b-b-beloved L-L-Library!"

Anubissium, who had been standing in a corner of the infirmary this whole time, spoke up. "Um. . . is it okay if I come to Nynrah too? I've never seen a Visorak before and I'm curious."

    IC: Abyssium

"Root, just calm down and breathe a little," Abyssium said. "While I agree that simply promising that he does not do it again is not efficient or effective, Melody might have other good ideas. Giving up, Melody sat down.  She was close to tears.  "F-f-fine!  D-do w-whatever y-you w-want with h-h-him.  I h-h-have w-warned y-y-you."

OOC: I have to go soon, but Melody is still up for being the one to help Torch.
