  • IC: Deadeye

Deadeye's head span....more than usual. He fell off of the shield and and got back up, spinning his knives in an arc. "You see my friend, I was not being cowardly, I was attempting to inflict fear in your soul. You are a good hero, I will give you that." He said, as the two clashed.

"A h-h-hero has n-no n-n-need for f-f-fear!" Root courageously dove into the arc, weakening his shield slightly so the knives would sink into it and become stuck. He ended up right next to Deadeye and swung a fist at his face.

"D-d-don't p-plan on it, f-f-foul c-c-creature." With his staff missing, he kicked at Deadeye's face. This time, he squinted to avoid being blinded again. This pretender did not deserve death, yet, but Root could not have him coming after him again. He reached back for more vines, these ones ready to wrap around an object on contact.

  • IC Mahrika

    Chirox Causeway, Visorak Hunt

Mahrika leapt and stumbled across the slippery crags, wishing his power were a higher level to give him better traction and balance. It seemed all his effort at improving his grace in the water had done little for his grace on foot. He had never crossed the entire Causeway on foot before, preferring to swim or fly part of the way. But eventually he made it to Nyrah, one of the last in the group to do so.

He considered Era's request. "It's right on the coast, so either we could go along the beach to get there, or cut through the interior and risk missing it. I got there by water, but few of you would enjoy that."

  • IC: Root - Library

Yes, the vines had ensnared him, but they would be simple to break once Deadeye recovered fully. Root needed some time to escape, or perhaps a more permanent message. A clear message that would proclaim that he was not to be trifled with. He walked over to where he had dropped the staff and picked it up, feeling the familiar weight in his hand before swinging it around with great force at the villain's head. He brought the staff back again, bashing over and over until there was no sign of consciousness.

Root was done here; he could not have a petty pretender following him. With one foe dispatched, Root turned back to the true villain, one who burns books and captures maidens. Defenseless or not, he could not be given the chance to harm more innocent students. Even Toa could kill if it came to that, if there was no other option.

    IC: Hoto - Nynrah

Hoto watched Mahrika slowly approach with a frown. What did Fang see in this guy? He was utterly helpless. At least for now, he was needed, but Hoto intended to find out exactly why he deserved so much trust.

"The beach, definitely," she immediately replied. It would be easier for her and Era to navigate on a clear coastline, and they didn't have that risk of getting lost. There was the danger of being seen, but no Matoran would come this far from the villages, right?

  • IC: Root - Library to Room

As Root began to settle back into his reading, his various pains began to make themselves manifest. Though he was relatively unscathed, it would be advantageous to repair those small injuries before another conflict. Root walked out of the Library, only sparing his foe a quick glance, completely devoid of pity or regret. This one deserved what he got. He didn't even deserve to be dragged to the Infirmary.

Heroes don't need some nurse fussing over them either. He already had some herbal remedies growing in his room, and he had read enough to apply some aid to himself. The fight had also depleted his supply of ready plants, and he needed to obtain new samples. Without his coat, he felt... vulnerable, like a Kraata outside of its armor. He set off back towards his dorm, passing many innocent students. They knew nothing of the evils that lurked in this school, nor their hero attempting to protect them.

He opened the familiar door on a solid wall of green. Hot, humid air billowed outwards, carrying with it the smell of greenery. Root breathed it all in, and his troubles and pains seemed to fade away. This was home, this tangle of vines thick enough to get lost in (and he had, admittedly), even better than a high shelf away from all these petty matters such as assignments and student conflicts. He walked in, parting the vines as he went. Each specimen was well known to him, in appearance, effects, and locations. He worked his way around the near-jungle, picking a sprout here and a trimming there to add to his armor, filling it with just enough power for the branches to be accessible. As his energies ran low, he sat back on the hammock he had strung up in place of the uncomfortable bed (where that got to, no one knows) and began to look over his injuries.

  • IC: Xara - Gym

Xara paced, waiting for her opponents to strike first. She had a knife ready in her hand, her swords still sheathed across her back. These guys didn't look too tough. A mixed bag of level ones and twos who seemed to think if they worked together they could take down one of the school's best fighters.

    How wrong they were...

Finally, a bulky Lerahk charged her, axe in hand. She sidestepped him, bobbing down low to slash him across the back of the legs, hamstringing him. He went down with a clumsy groan. A flash of silver flew towards her, and she rolled sideways, the spear impaling the ground where she'd been moments before. She teleported a second knife into her hand and flung it at the thrower; her aim was off, it took him in the shoulder instead of the throat. Not a killing blow, but that arm was out of commission.

Pain tore across her side: she turned to see another Rahkshi, this one holding a javelin. He went down without her ever touching him, a jolt of electricity travelling along his weapon and striking him down the moment his weapon touched her. It was a shallow wound, but long. Painful, but not enough to kill her. Three more of the thugs closed in on her. These ones seemed smarter, more organised. Excellent. She threw her last knife and drew her swords, charging forwards.

One of the enemy Rahkshi stepped froward, deflecting her knife with a shield. The other two split up, one going to either side. Behind her, she knew the spear-thrower she'd hit with the knife would be gearing up for another try. Four on one; they had her surrounded. She grinned. "Who's first?"

The attacker on her left answered the challenge, firing a disk at her. As he did, his counterpart on Xara's right started to run at her, holding a broadsword high. Xara ducked, letting the disk sail right over her to hit the sword-wielder. He shrugged it off and kept coming, seemingly unaware that he'd been shrunk to half of his size. Xara got to her feet and lashed out, kicking the shrunken Rahkshi square in his diminutive chest and sending him flying. In the meantime, the one who had fired the disk had moved in closer, swinging the weapon like a club. She raised her swords, blocking his clumsy strike with her blades. He yelped, electricity coursing through his weapon and into him, before slumping to the ground.

That only left two of them. A sudden flare of agony in one of her legs made her rethink that count, though. Looking down, she saw the Lerahk she'd hamstrung earlier twisting the hilt of a dagger he'd just stabbed into her upper thigh. A wave of nausea washed over her as the poison flooded her system. Hissing in anger, she yanked the knife free, and brought the hilt down - hard - onto the top of his head. Seeing that she was distracted, the final two ran at her together.

The injured one was closer, and unarmed, so she went after him. Tossing her swords aside, she tackled him to the floor, ripping the knife out of his shoulder and driving it into deeper his chest. He made a strained gurgling sound, but Xara didn't stop to listen. Pulling her weapon free and summoning several more knives into her hand, she twisted around and flung the whole handful right at the final attacker. He managed to catch a few on his shield, but with his sword arm raised to strike, he'd left half of his body exposed. That half of his body was very suddenly peppered with knives.

"Well, this has been fun, boys," she wheezed, rising unsteadily to her feet, "but I think I've kicked your sorry arses enough for one day." Staggering slightly, she gathered up her swords and retrieved her knives, before limping off in the direction of the infirmary.

    IC: Exxan - Infirmary.

Finishing his meal in the refectory, Exxan got to his feet and headed for the infirmary. Presumably, that was where Fang had gone, and Exxan decided it was time he and Fang got to know each other a little better. Their last talk hadn't gone so well, and if Fang was still confined to a bed, perhaps there was a chance that they could talk things over without anymore innocent chairs being killed.

"Hello Fang," Exxan said carefully, pulling up a chair and sitting down next to the Su-Rahkshi's bed.

  • IC: (Torch/Library)

Well, everyone seemed to finally be leaving, and since no-one had answered his question about the book, he decided to simply take it. It would make a nice lamp in his dorm once it had been lit.

On the other side of the Library, the vegetation-covered rahk appeared, having just attacked the student who had asked for a light back in the Refectory.

Torch walked up to Deadeye, who seemed unconscious. The match was still in Torch's satchel, all alone, waiting, pleading to be used...but not on Deadeye. Deadeye was alright.

"Did that Bomaurahk get you?" he asked the laser-visionary absent-mindedly. It really was time to see Palma again, but Torch decided that Palma was a ####ING ####ER OF A ####ING ########, JUST ####ING WAITING TO BE CHAR-GRILLED LIKE THE ####ING PIG THAT SHE WAS. In other words, he didn't like her too much.

"Don't worry, I'll get him." Torch continued to the prone form of Deadeye.

  • IC: Jayar / The Library-->The Infirmary

Jayar rolled his eyes as Exxan declared how proud he was of the student body. Did he think he was above them? (Well, he was, but just by a single level.) That they participated in the trial to prove themselves to him? Gaining a level, and the reputation that went along with that, seemed to have gone to his head. Though at least he had a noble goal of proving the students were capable to the Staff.

Leaving the Library, Jayar returned to the Infirmary, only to find Hoto, Era, and a bunch of other Rahkshi had left, and a certain Vacuum Rahkshi had arrived in their place. Jayar mentally facepalmed, but did not interfere, at least for now. Exxan looked like he had come in peace. If Fang wanted him gone, probably not only Exxan but the entire Infirmary would know soon enough.

He walked over to Kat and asked her, "Where did Hoto and the others go?"

    IC: Vlad / The Infirmary

"Oh." said Vlad sadly, mostly to himself. Of course there was no one else like him. He was, as before, all alone. Except for Ivan, his faithful companion.

He lay in bed, unmoving, for a while.

    OOC: Vlad open to interaction.

Turning directly to Tube, Chekquars speaks again.

"Worry not about your sleeping, dear Tube. That was the exact reason why I sent both of you here, not just one or the other. Together, at least one of you would be able to monitor the Causeway constantly. Now, come! To the Refectory, I am hungry as you likely are, and we must plan our next move!"

  • IC: (Torch/Library-->Dorm)

While Melody, Abyssium and the others were engaged in conversation, Torch sneaked out of the side entrance, headed for his dorm, and leaving the unconscious Deadeye on the floor.

A minutes walk later, checking regularly that he wasn't being followed, he arrived at his dorm, now even more charred than before.

A thick layer of red paint from the cupboard and soot from the specially dedicated Soot Box later, Torch was back to his former black and crimson glory. Slinging the flamethrower across his back, he opened his dorm's window (facing out over the sea) and stepped out into flight mode, making sure that he had closed both his dorm's window and it's front door behind him, locking the latter from the inside.

There was still a hole going through into Vlad's dorm where the mysterious "Kick" had punched through the plaster-work at high density, but it was nothing that couldn't be fixed easily enough.

Hovering for a moment, Torch began his flight to the mainland.

Nearing the mainland, Torch knew that he would have to be quick. He had only ever visited Nynrah a few times before, and those had not ended...too well, for the most part. Basically, they had got him locked up for three months.

However, they had also given him the opportunity to hide replacement parts for his flamethrower in a cave to the south, in case Old Trusty ever got damaged. If they were planning to steal his possessions, they had another thing coming.

The weapon he carried on his back would be stored in a different location, however. While Torch hated to voluntarily give his possession away for any amount of time, even his addled brain could calculate the benefits of this plan.

While he was here, he would get some new lighters too, and hide half of them in a cave somewhere as well.

Exxan was bold to come in here and speak to him like this. If he could stand... well, that was the point, wasn't it? He couldn't just ignore whatever motive must be behind this. Exxan had to be trying to find something he could take advantage of. Normal enemies don't just wait by the bedside of each other and ask about their life story.

Then again, Exxan was an unusual sort of enemy. Instead of a battle, they had talked it over, and Exxan had sat calmly through it all. He didn't want to fight. Perhaps a talk could be beneficial, or could be turned to Fang's advantage.

"What... do you want... to know?"
