IC:After a few moments, the car began to loom out if the trees, and Tera redoubled her pace. Maybe that hadn't heard her.Though that thought was debunked when a flying, pre-teen girl of a projectile flew out of the trees, tackling her more or less about the midsection. She stumbled back in surprise, barely maintaining her footing and keeping the girl from falling to the ground."Uh, yes, last I checked. You are...?"
IC:
"Hi!" The girl exclaimed, looking up at Tera with a bright smile on her face, "I'm Project Trinity!"
IC: Mikhail
Another text arrived on John's phone.
//I thought this was supposed to be simple.//
IC: Aella
"Trinnnnn...." I called weakly from the car, everything I did seemed to be taking a lot more effort that it should have, it didn't help I couldn't really think straight. Freakin head injury, so inconvenient. "Stop talking to the imaginary girl...or you'll stop existing!" Never mind that I could see the girl too, that clearly wasn't the point!
I was beginning to wonder what that man and the other woman were doing, just standing around? If I'd been at full strength I would have stolen the car already and drove off with Trin. Seriously.
IC:
"But she isn't that Imaginary thing. I can feel that hole in her body," Trinity said, poking Tera's belly-button.
IC Reyson"!!!" Reyson silently cursed. "Another unidentified person?! Too many variables..." Reyson turned on his comm, but rather than speaking into hit, he blew into it in a Morse Code variant. If HQ could decipher it, they would read "Another outsider, not affiliated with the rest. Why does this place attract so many people? Seriously thinking of bugging out and then following from afar."
IC:"...""That's called a belly button, and I'm not imaginary. Last I checked." Tera paused, more than a little perplexed. "Um, I'm Tera. Are you guys headed back into town? I got lost."
IC:
"The John Harken said we're going to the safe house!" Trinity said jovially, "Want to come along?"
IC:
IC Reyson"Wait, safe house?" Reyson thought. He continued to watch; he wouldn't report in every 10 seconds like he did earlier.
IC: Mikhail
Reyson would feel a cold metal object pressing against the back of his head, as well as the sudden fizzing out of his communicator's functions. Nobody would blow into their communicator if they wished to talk to someone unless they had a reason, and Mikhail wanted to know what the reason was, and why the Asian man was spying on his compatriots. The SHIELD agent's finger was tightly wrapped around the trigger - he could easily fire his weapon at any time.
"Don't move," he said quietly.
John Harken- Middle of nowhere Nebraska
IC: Before John could deal with the newcomer, a rustling noise come from behind the group, causing him to turn and look at where it was coming from.
It seemed that Mikhail had managed to get the jump on whoever had been watching them. Trusting the other agent to be able to take care of the situation, he turned back to the group, trying to figure out how many people could fit in his car.
Hmm, that person looks familiar. Where have a I seen her before?
IC Reyson####################################!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Panic mode."Whoa whoa whoa who the are you why are you pointing a gun at least i think its a gun at my head I was just driving along the highway on my way to tomorrow's business meeting and next thing I know there's a buzzsaw Humvee tearing through the woods-*takes a breath*""Let's try that again," Reyson said, calming down. "I'm guessing that I really shouldn't be watching this? Is this some sort of spy thing?"Reyson didn't move.
IC: Mikhail
Mikhail did not reply, simply jabbing his free hand, now charged with electricity, into Reyson's side.
IC:"Safe house...?"In that instant, the details of the situation registered. Rustling in the bushes. An official looking person, most likely SHIELD, eyeing her carefully. A woman in the backseat with a head injury. "... The things I wander into." She muttered quietly, holding her up her hands where the agent could see them. "Not armed. You can search me, if it'll make you feel better.""The woman in the backseat. How is she? Has anyone performed a check on her head, first aid, anything?"
IC:
"... Aella's awake," Trinity said, oblivious to what on earth the lady was saying.
IC ReysonWhat to do in case you get caught/attacked.1. Appear sympathetic to the rabbit (in this case, Project Trinity). This can be achieved by pretending you are an innocent person about to get mugged/raped/killed, putting your attacker in the wrong, and overall calling for help."Aaaaaaaaaaaagh there's this crazy electrokinetic mutant shocking me help help help help if you want my information stop shocking me I don't even know who the you are why are you doing this stop stop stop are you a burgler terrorist why are you attacking a civilian anybody he's hurting me HURTING ME HEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!2. Use a cover story. This should be rehearsed and memorized beforehand. Proper props (such as a fake/stolen ID) should be provided.3. Try to find out what organization your attacker's from. Knowing's half the battle.4. Do not demonstrate your combat abilities until absolutely necessary, so as to provide credibility to step 2.
IC: Mikhail
"Not a mutant."
He cracked his weapon against the back of the suspicious man's head, hopefully with sufficient force to knock him unconscious.
IC: Aella
"Hey, I don't need no checking of my head!" Getting my forehead wrapped in soft, strange wrappings was bad enough. I didn't like people touching me. The only reason that John guy had gotten away with what he did was because I was tired, my head hurt, and I was really hungry.
IC ReysonA cracking sound came from Reyson's neck; it wasnt broken, or even moderately damaged, but it still hurt. Reyson's head hit a tree root extremely hard. A second, much more sickening crack was heard-potential cranial fracture? "Of all the times to be mugged, why Guan Yin why?" Reyson had trained for strikes to the head, so he wasn't immediately knocked out, but he was barely hanging on; after all, Mikhail did apply sudden trauma to both sides of his head. "If I survive I'm suei..." Reyson slumped onto the ground, blood gushing from his head. Mikhail may have used more force than necessary.
John Harken- Middle of nowhere Nebraska
IC: A look of recognition crossed John face as he recalled the file in the Mutant list that talked about her. Walking forward he replied.
"Ms. Laurent is it? I'm agent Harken, checking out the area due to reports of suspicious activity. The young lady, as I'm sure you can hear, is fine. She just got a bump on the head when she crashed into a tree."
IC:
"That's not how you talk to my friends," Trinity said, her voice still jovial, but something about the words she said and the tone of voice that she used was... Disconcerting, to say the least.
"Let the Ms. Laurent look at Aella."
"..."
"Please?"
John Harken- Middle of nowhere Nebraska
IC: "If she wants to check your friend out I have no problem with it. I was just answering her question."
IC: Mimic
Christine followed Kristen over to the table and then took a bite out of her sandwich before following up with a sip of tea.
"Sweet tea always reminds me of home," she said with a pang of nostalgia. "So what were you looking to buy today?"
IC: Feral
John smiled. "I miss being a kid growing up here. Before we learned about how much humans hated us, before people tried to kill us. It was fun." John said. He found it interesting to think that Kitty could of possibly watched him as a toddler.
"Sounds like something Hank would of done," John said with a lump in his throat. "I miss him."
He stopped by the door and waited while she poked her head in. "Let's go in then I suppose." he sighed. Warren wasn't his favorite person. Especially after what he'd done. I hope he doesn't remember what I did to his car... John thought. Though Warren had loads of money it wasn't like he couldn't buy another.
Then the door swung open and Warren stood before John. He shook Warren's hand numbly, wondering who the woman who'd just spoken from Warren's office was. He followed Warren inside the office, noticing that his bedroom door was slightly ajar.
"I didn't mean to interrupt anything," John said as he glanced around and then at the girl on the windowsill. Okay, John recognized her instantly. How could he not? She was none other then Psylocke, she was pretty infamous with the young teens growing up in the mansion since she was reportedly one of the most attractive of the old X-Men, not to mention she was also said to kick ***.
Right, Warren is talking. "Honestly I didn't think I'd be back either," John said as his cyan eyes stared into Warren's without blinking. "Japan wasn't what I expected it to be and I ran into Julia. We had to leave the country or the Hand would of cut our throats or turned us both into assassins. We had nowhere else to go."
IC: Nicole
"Dallas is friendly as can be," she smiled. "He was around other kittens when he was young and he's also totally addicted to cat-nip, you won't find a more laid back cat."
IC: Triblade
Matt nodded at Aleks. "Hopefully I'll be able to catch yours."
IC: This situation was getting too complicated. Too many people were popping up, and Persephone had no been programmed to believe in coincidences. The second of the arrivals was easy to place once Harken had named her. Tera Laurent was on a couple of watch-lists as a known mutant, but Persephone couldn't find anything in her databanks about her being dangerous. She was still a civilian though, she'd have to be escorted away before she learned anything more important than the existence of a safe house.
The other was a little trickier. His face wasn't in her files, and he hadn't volunteered a name. Which was odd, normally that was the first thing frightened people did, an attempt to make themselves more than just a face. And there was a strange energy reading about him that Persephone could not recall ever having seen before.
"If he was driving to a meeting, why is his car so far away?" she said to Harken and Mikhail, "And if his business meeting is tomorrow, why is he wearing his suit now, it'll be crumpled." She walked over to Reyson and prodded him with her foot, "I think we should take him into custody. His story seems off and there's something about him thats not right according to my visual scans."
IC: "I do want to get out of this dump, and I do want to get you out of this dump so you don't turn it into burned dump," Magnitude said, "So fine, lets go round the shelters for abused and battered mutants."
IC: Mikhail
Mikhail sighed, dropping down onto a knee to move the suspect into a slightly more comfortable position. He pulled out a medical kit from his satchel, ruffling through its contents before finding what he wanted - a clean cloth to wipe away the blood that was pooling around Reyson's forehead. Upon making sure that it was possible to clean the wound without much difficulty, he pulled out a bottle of water, and gently poured the liquid onto another cloth, and gently wiped it down on the wound, ignoring the hisses of pain from the water's stings. He didn't exactly have many other options, after all.
"He does not seem to be very resistant to force," murmured the SHIELD agent, ripping out some adhesive dressing to wrap around Reyson's forehead. "I expected more."
He wasn't exactly a medical professional, and as such knew that his attempts at fixing up the man would only be temporary until they returned to base.
"He had a communicator with him," continued Mikhail. "It has been disabled, but we should be able to discover his origins if the producers of the device are known."
IC:"One recovers from an injury, or a sickness." The technopath replied his attempt at dry humor coming out far more bitterly than intended. "There isn't much that can be done to fix my situation.""Sure, we can try and get me cheery again. But nothing will bring the dead back, fix what's wrong in my family, or get those who are gone to come back. I mean no disrespect, doc, I'm sure you're wonderful at what you do. But there isn't much to be done. It was good to say it, though."IC:Carefully, Tera picked her way across the clearing, ignoring the scuffle behind her. The woman in the car, Aella, was pretty clearly not the most agreeable to medical proceedings. That made this a bit harder. In her head, she reviewed the past few minutes, cautiously shining a small penlight in her eyes to check pupil dilation."Miss, would I be correct in saying that you're suffering from a lack of energy, muddled thinking, and perhaps a loss of balance?"
IC:
"You two alright?" Warren asked with a single nod to Betsy; she smiled a little friskily and leaned back into the windowsill, turning her gaze back and forth from Warren to John and back. "Good. Julia can stay here, no questions asked; our new technology officer should be happy to see her. But John...you know there are going to be a lot of people who have a lot of issues with you being back here."
John opened his mouth to speak but Warren Worthington held up a hand to stop him, "I fought in the trenches with your father for years before you first even crossed his mind. I was here back when this Institute had five kids and Charles Xavier to keep it full. I know why you do what you do, and it doesn't bother me. Trust me when I say everyone I ever knew has done worse, and they've all seen me do worse. But they're all dead, John, and the kids here don't have the same level of experience as I do. They have nothing to go on but the word of the Summers kid - and for a lot of people that's still not good enough..."
Up until now Warren had held John's eyes without a trace of any emotion, but now he flickered, and looked down at his desk, one fist over his mouth. It was clear he was pained.
"Maybe if Alaric were still here, you know, maybe he could do something to assuage the tension...ease people's minds...it'd be smoother sailing," he said, as though he'd forgotten he was talking to John and had struck up a conversation with himself; he realized this discourtesy and turned back to John, eyes hardening painfully again. "But he's not here, so it won't be. And I'm gonna need a lot more from you than just your word if you intend to stick around without issue."
IC:
"You named your permanently half-stoned cat after me?"
IC:
Aleks' gazed flicked back to Matt before sizing up Scott again and gesturing him to follow the teacher out to an uncluttered part of the football field.
"You can make first move," the Russian ceded with an easy smile, before he went for a suckerpunch to the face.
-Tyler
IC: Aella
"I blame that tree...it got in the way..." I groaned, trying to look toward the crashed Humvee. "Can we...burn everything down...that would be so pretty..." All the trees needed to die, I didn't like them anymore.
IC:"We can discuss that later, miss, but you didn't answer the question." Tera replied calmly, showing the penlight once again. Dilation and tracking was off. Between that and her behavior, the woman definitely had a concussion."Ma'am, you have a concussion. Do you know what that means?"
IC: Aella
"A...concussion?" The word sounded quite foreign to me, "Yeah sure...I know what it means..."
What the is a concussion? I figured if I pretended to know I'd figure it out. "It's ummm....well you know...when you hit your head on a steering wheel..." I figured that was close enough to what it meant.
IC:"A concussion is brain damage. Relatively minor, but if we're not careful, it can get much worse. You need to stay still until we can get you real tests and treatment, okay? You'll be find, but we don't want to aggravate things."A pause, and Tera held out a hand. "I'm Tera. You're Aella, right?"
IC: Aella
"Yeah, that's me." I responded, looking at Tera's hand as it stretched out toward me, was I suppose to do something with it? I poked her hand with a finger, making sure she wasn't imaginary after all.
"Wait...what was that about tests? I don't really...like those..."
IC:After a pause, Tera withdrew her hand, slightly perplexed. "Nothing invasive, I promise. They're just going to want to make sure you're alright, and that they don't need to provide any extra treatment.""I'd do it myself, but, well..." A slightly sheepish smile. "Technically, I'm not qualified. I mean, I know how, but legally, I'm not."
IC: Aella
"Why does it matter if it's legal?" I asked, wondering how I even knew what 'legal' meant. I couldn't recall ever hearing that word before.
IC:"You don't know much about the world, do you?" Tera asked, eyebrows arching slightly as, now that the initial hyper focus of having an injured individual had worn off, both Trin and Aella wore what looked like... Prison jumpsuits?
IC: Aella
"Well...when your memories only go back about year, and you've spent that year in cell, only to be taken out to fight in simulations or do other ######...you wonder if there even is a world outside...HYDRA ###### lied to me." Whenever I had tried to ask about the what was outside of the lab the scientists and guards had either ignored me or called me a . It hadn't been much to go on really.
"I figured there had to be someplace outside that lab though...the guards and scientists were coming from somewhere....so when Trin managed to break into my cell, I figured we'd try to find out what was out here...." I bit my lip. "I didn't know trees were gonna be such a pain though."
