  • IC (Hatann): The address lead them to a house on the edge of Ko-koro, one of the few buildings that was not made out of ice. Instead, it was built from a light grey stone blocks, though it kept the traditional dome-shape of all the igloos around it. In truth, it made litlte difference to the house's appearance because the surface was so encrusted with icicles that it hardly made a difference, giving the impression that the occupant, despite being different from those around them, was making an effort to fit in. :m_d: :e: :k: :u: :n: :a: was engraved above the door in bold runes."This is the place" Hatann said as he used gravity to make the lock implode and them bashed open the door with his mace. "Let's take a look inside".OOC: Flashback!IC (Hatann): Hatann peeked around the boulder he was crouched behind.. Down below, in a snow-covered valley, a dark-armoued toa was carrying the prize that would soon be his. He was sure that the toa didn't know of his presence - he was looking up to the ridge on the other side of the valley, paying no attention to where the danger really was. Crouched beside him was another Skakdi, Tagrok. The fire-spitter like to think of himself as Hatann's latest apprentice in crime, but in reality he was nothing but a tool for the other Skakdi. Hatann had long coveted the red Skakdi's weapon, a lava launcher, though Tagrok's protectiveness of it had shot down all of his attempts to get his claws on it. No matter, that would have to wait. The job at hand was more important. At last, the toa had walked far enough and their trap was ready to be sprung. The two shouted warcries and charged down the slope, vision beams flying. Caught off guard, the inexperience toa triggered his mask power, copying the power of the stone rat. He burst into flames, covering his body in a halo of burning indigo. Underneath, Banua felt no discomfort, as his mask protected him from both the heat of his own fire and that of the Skakdi's vision beams. Even Hatann's lasers couldn't burn his skin.Still shocked by the suddenness of the attack, he could not press his advantage before the thieves changed tactics and put him formly on the defnsive. His cloak of fire was ripped away from his body by Tagrok's elemental control, losing its purple colour and turning into a raging oragne inferno, hanging in the air before him. He funneled more power into his mask, causing new flames to spring up on his armour, but these primative tendrils were quickly ripped away, and the orange fire grew, threatening to engulf him if he could not master it. The fight escalated, as the toa poured his willpower into the mask, but to no avail. The Skakdi's developed control was much stronger than his untested skills as a toa. He was in the middle of a last, desperate attempt when Hatann unleashed the gravity he had been building in the snow beneath the toa. The fragile ice imploded, plunging Banua deep below the surface and into an underground ice cave, where he landed with a crunch.

  • IC: SehriiWarm, was the first thing the green-armored Toa thought of when she walked into the building. Most huts in Ko-Koro were reletively warmer then outside, but this was warm enough to be a nice hut on a Ga-Wahi beach.Although, despite not having an elemental connection to Ice, the Toa of Magnetism found she liked cooler places better. Probably from living in this Koro most of her life.

Wraith quitely slipped away from the mark bearers and headed toward the exit of the koro. Frieza noticed, however. "Should we stop him?" He asked, pointing at where Wraith used to be. "I'm fairly sure he's headed to this Emotia you were speaking of, judging how quickly he left after you mentioned where she was."

OOC: Why thank you. http://www.bzpower.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/cool.png There'll be more coming, because I have to set up the backstory before I can translate it into the frontstory for the plot that will soon kick off.IC (Hatann): As Kaerhi stepped into the hut, a trapdoor opened beneath him, leaving nothing but a deep pit. Clearly the body guard was big on home security as well as protecting others.OOC: Flashback time again.IC (Dekuna): While the two Skakdi thugs burst from their ambush, they were unaware that another ambush had been set for them. From across the valley, Banua's bodyguard came zooming across the snow on a flat piece of wood. He raised his arm, and will impossible speed and accuracy, a steel knife buried itself in Tagrok's shoulder. The red Skakdi was caught off guard by the sudden attack, and fell to the ground with a cry of pain. The next instant, he had leapt off his snowboard and was opposite Hatann, sending a sonic boom into the Skakdi's gut.

I bet there's more stuff like that around". Cautiously, he too entered the house, just as a hidden mechanism reclosed the trapdoor and sealed off the pit. He wasn't sure if it would drop again or if it was now safe, but he didn't step on it all the same.Just as he did, a blade swung out of the roof, narrowly missing his shoulder. "Yeah, stuff like that" he repeated. "But hey, if he had all, this, he must have something worth protecting right? Something valuable maybe?"

  • IC (Hatann): The next trap came when a section of the floor suddenly sprun upwards, creating a slope just under Hatann's feet. Standing on even ground one moment and sharp ramp the next, he lost his balance and stumbled backwards out the doorway. A couple of seconds later, a groove in the outer wall disgorged a tablet which fell onto a surprised Hatann's chest. It read "Thankyou for coming to pay me a visit, but I'm not in right now. Please go away. Dekuna." Hatann snorted at the taunt and threw the tablet away.OOC: Flashback.IC: Hatann dived under the rippling wall of sound, and responded by with a gravatic pulse, stopping the toa in his tracks. Getting up, he fired two zamors filled with high explosive at this rather unwelcome visitor. Tagrok got up to his knees and propped himself up on his lava launcher, prepared to help, but the knife was partly embedded in the bone of his shoulder, and trying to move his arm sent him back to the snow. The zamors never got near to Dekuna, as a sonic pulse made them release their contents too early, and the resulting fireball erupted midway between himself and Hatann. It covered the spot where Tagrok had been lying and when it subsided, his red armour was black with soot. His weapon lay beside him in the snow.

  • IC (Hatann): "Nah, its not that. Nobody would have had time to rig all this stuff, write the ma=essages and then disappear in the time it took us to walk here. I think this is just standard for when he leaves his house." His earlier failure only made him more determined to get back indie the house and discover what it held, so he stepped back over the threshhold, moving cautiously in a half-crouch.OOC: Flashback.IC: Hatann knew the moment when Tagrok passed out, overcome by the explosion. He was alone in this fight with nobody to work with, so his elemental powers evapourated, leaving his sensess truncated. The feeling was like having a visor placed over his eyes - he could still percieve the world around him, but it lacked some element of depth or focus. Everything was still there, but it had lost its vibrancy.Seeing how his situation had changed, the burly Skakdi sprinted for his comrade's weapon. It conferred the ability for a Skakdi to manipulate elements on their own, and it was his best chance at victory against a foe who could now outmatch him with powers. It was a dozen bio away... ten... eight.. but then toa saw where he was going and started forward as well. The snow before him exploded upwards under a pressre wave, but he pushed through it. Anything to get to that weapon.

  • IC (Dekuna's House): Kaerhi could not have been more wrong. So far, they had only penetrated a few bio into the house, and there would be plenty more tricks and traps unless they found the master switch to turn them all off. As it was, the system of wires and pulleys inside the walls continued to work away, setting off more anti-intruder mechanisms. A knife flew at Hatnn's shoulder, grazing the armour there, while a table suddenly lifted up one of its legs to reveal a heatstone launcher and pelted the pair with burning rocks. When its supply was spent, the last thing to come out was a tablet. It flew into Hatann's hands, displaying the message "Your perseverance is admirable, but you are not welcome here. Please go away. Dekuna."OOC: FlashbackIC: Hatann dived onto the lava launcher just before the toa's knife got there and bounced off the handle. His grip prevented the weapon from skidding out of reach, and into the pit where Banua lay, along with the prized stone. He felt his powers return as he lay stretched out on the ice. The metal was warm against his hand from the explosion, while the ice sapped heat from his body. He had the tool, but he was far from being in a good position. Dekuna strode towards him, closing the gap in the space of a second and swinging his blade towards Hatann's exposed neck. A grim smile was on his face as he prepared the final blow.

  • IC (Hatann): Hatann read the message and then threw it away in disgust. He wasn't going to take that, not even from a deathtrap-rigged house. He advanced further into the house, and set off a trio of knives, though non of them pierced his armour. Finally, he came to stand in the doorway to the next room, which looked like a kitchen. Wondering what traps it might contain, he stepped inside.OOC: Flashback.IC: The blade never reached Hatann's neck, as he desperately pumped his energy into a nearby boulder, increasing its gravity by thousands of times. Dekuna's blow was suudenly arrested by the pull, and he lost his footing and flew backwards into the boulder. He landed against it's jagged surface with a steely scrape as the sharp lines or rock carved grooves into the armour of his back.Saved from death, Hatann rolled to his feet, grabbed his mace from where it had fallen beside him and charged at his foe, ready to take advantage now that the tables were turned.

  • OOC: You asked for it.IC (Hatann): Kaerhi's sword did cut through a wire, and it was one that was involved in control of the whole system. The first time Hatann had opened the front door, this wire had been pulled, triggering a sequence of mechanisms to set off all of the house's defenses. When Kaerhi's sword sheared through it, the weight on one end dropped off, allowing the wire to run unchecked through its entire course which might otherwise have taken hours. What the sword thrust did was replicate the effects of an entire team of burglars entering and reentering the house despite being thrown back many times. Every trap in the place went off at once.It was utter chaos. Hatann created a field of artificial gravity around himself, but it could only shield him from some of the traps. All over the house, streams of acid went flying, along with knives, spears, arrows and poisoned darts. The floor became harder to walk on than a storm-tossed sea as trapdoors opened and closed and boards sprang up and down. Some pits extended too far down to see the bottom, while others released odd-smelling fumes and corrosive liquids. The house was fulled with crashes, twangs and bumps while many decade's worth of secruty measures took their course and revealed the extent of the body-guard's paranoia.

As soon as he finished that word, all ###### broke loose in the hut. Knifes, blades, acid, trapdoors; you name it, it went off. Kaerhi started blasting ice everywhere, sealing up dart-holes, making a solid floor in some spots and freezing certain plates on the floor in the open pisition.

  • OOC: Jeez, I'm all for home defense, but isn't this a little much?

OOC: For a normal person, absolutely. For a body-guard who has spent most of his life making very powerful enemies... yeah, you might be right. :PIC (Hatann): Eventually, the dust settled. The house was a wreck, both from its own traps and the Skakdi's defenses. Still, the walls seemed sound, and the roof hadn't collapsed yet. Hatann took that as encouraging as he got up off the floor, nursing several bruises and cuts. "What a great idea that was" he muttered. "'Go break into Dekuna's house' I said. 'What's the worst that could happen' I said. Maybe I should keep my mouth shut more." Gingerly, he levitated over the weapon-littered floor to a clear space on top of what might have once been a matress. "If I ever get my hands on this guy again, I think I'll want to kill him even more".OOC: FlashbackIC: Neither of the two was holding back. Blasts of sonics and gravity flew all around as Toa and Skakdi strove against each other and threw caution to the wind. Their weapons clashed time and again as they dueled each other. The fight escalated as it became more than just a contest for a stone. Both were fighting out of their skins like two alpha muaka vying for territory. They each recognised another excellent fighter, enough to test even their own skills. They reveled in the challenge, the rush of adrenallin, the pain of their wounds as they did everything in the power to out-do the other. Sweat steamed off their bodies in the ice-cold air as they closed again on the rim of the pit, raining down blows from all directions, taking whatever they had to to come out on top. Both began to realise that only one of them would likely make it out alive.
