IC: Fang
It took Fang half the time to get there to realize he didn't know what he was going to do. It was far too late to stop the conflict, but he could try minimizing the casualties. But it was too late for thought. The target was already aiming the cannon, so Fang launched himself between the two to try and get the gun away. Just then, the Target, a Rahkshi of Dodging, fired, and Fang almost thought he recognized them. Then every cell of his body felt like it was being incinerated as the light hit him, and he fell from the sky. He slipped into blissful unconsciousness before he hit the water below.
IC Mahrika
Sea, near Chirox's Teeth
Mahrika waded into the surf, trident in hand. At first the seawater felt almost ice cold, but his adaptation power soon tempered the chill. Usually he simply swam for his own enjoyment, but today he had a practical goal as well: he wanted to try fishing.
He'd caught a fish once before, a Ruki that swam within range of his trident, but a sneaky Takea shark had made off with his catch, leaving Mahrika without the seafood meal he'd been looking forward to. This time he would be more careful.
His intended fishing spot was the Chirox Causeway, or rather, below it. He knew fish often used the pillars as shelter, and thought it might be a good place to start. On the Nyrah side, of course. There was very little sea life around Corpus Rahkshi's island, for a variety of potential reasons Mahrika could think of.
When Mahrika's swim had taken him nearly to the Nyrah coast, he caught sight of something zipping through the air above the island.
Of course. A student heading back to the academy.
But as he watched, the Rahkshi flew straight at another, which dodged, changed course for the causeway, and drew a huge bayonet. The first Rahkshi pursued with swords drawn.
Mahrika's stomach turned. More assassins. And this time they looked like they had a chance of really killing each other.
Still, not his problem. Mahrika took a deep breath, and--
--wait--
--that third Rahkshi following those two--
--was that... Fang?
Oh no, you don't.
The last thing Mahrika wanted was for one of the only other rational students to get caught up in the game. He swung his legs up to the surface, clasped them together and took flight, heading straight towards Fang with the intention of knocking him away from the assassins.
IC Vir
Outside the Party
Vir took a few seconds to breathe slowly and deeply, trying to calm their anxiousness. Yes, it would be loud and crowded with other students. Yes, their assassin was probably there. Yes, it was probably very much against the rules.
But Vir couldn't deny to themself that they really wanted to experience a party. Steeling themself, Vir opened the door and instantly was overwhelmed by a crowd of Rahkshi in a smallish room, the blaring and somewhat grating music of a band, and... that smell!
Vir had heard, of course, about how amazing mainland food was, but had never experienced it themself. Was it really as great as everyone said?
They took a slice of the vuata cake from a tough-looking Rahkshi who presumably was there to ensure nobody stole the confection. Vir held the piece close to their face for a moment, inhaling the aroma, examining the embedded globules of jam. Then they took a bite. Yes. Yes, it was every molecule as good as everyone claimed. For that one bite Vir would have given up two days of refectory food.
After Vir took two more bites, they realized that the slice was now mostly gone. They made up their mind to carefully conserve the rest, so it would last the rest of the party. Not that Vir planned to stay past midday like many of the other students, though. There were classes, after all.
OOC: Aww, you do care.
Too bad Fang's already been dumb.
Wouldn't it be great if everyone at the party saw the flash and assumed that was the alarm? ![]()
IC: Dodge-256
What the ?! Somebody got in the way?! " freakin' ..." 256 resumed course and pulled the bolt again. "Come one come one come on..."
IC: Recoil
Recoil looked at Dodge. "Are you trying to kill him?!" She asked, surprised.
IC: Dodge-256
256 couldn't afford to delay, so xhe just yelled "It shouldn't be strong enough to kill!" as xhe ripped into the causeway, weaving through the teeth, left and right, over and under.
IC: Recoil
Recoil had known Dodge for a little bit and he seemed alright so she loaded her launcher with standard ammo and aimed at Xara who was chasing dodge. She fired, the ammunition spinning towards Xara.
IC Mahrika
Chirox's Teeth
As he flew, Mahrika watched the lead Rahkshi in flight aim their weapon over their shoulder at their pursuer, not realizing Fang had put himself between the two.
No! Get out of the way!
But the Rahkshi fired, and a searing blast of light that made Mahrika's eyes burn erupted from the weapon. When his vision returned, Fang simply wasn't there. No... that wasn't possible. No student could have gotten their hands on a weapon that powerful. Fang must have fallen into the water.
Mahrika streamlined himself even further back, trying to get as much flight speed as he could. When he reached the point where he'd last seen Fang, he pitched forward and dove feet-first into the sea.
This time he hardly noticed the initial coldness of the water. He flipped in the water and swam straight downward, kicking his feet with all his strength, not bothering to conserve his breath. He looked all around for some sign of Fang, but aside from a couple drifting lightfish the water was empty. Finally he reached the seafloor, which was completely undisturbed. Where was that Rahkshi?
Mahrika shot back upwards, temporarily feeling a painful tingling as he readjusted to air pressure. At the surface, he took another deep breath of air and tried to figure out what had happened to Fang. Could he really have been obliterated in a single blast?
No, of course! His momentum! Fang would have kept going in the direction he'd been flying when he was hit. Mahrika swam several bio parallel to the causeway and then dived again. When he was starting to worry that he'd misjudged how far Fang's momentum had carried him, he caught sight of a dim pattern beneath him, slightly paler than the surrounding sea.
Fang ought to be glad he painted that white pattern on his armor.
Indeed, the rest of the tan and red Rahkshi was almost invisible in the dim, blue-washed lighting. Mahrika grabbed him and then turned for the surface, straining to reach it before the Surahk perished.
Once Mahrika's head crested the waves, he pulled Fang up alongside him, then opened Fang's headplate and checked the Kraata for signs of life. Had he survived?
OOC: I was still writing that last post when you posted, Click. Since I'd already put Mahrika nearby before I knew Fang would be hurt, I hope it doesn't count as a Deux Ex Rahkshina.
IC: Fang
Fang was vaguely conscious of the cold surrounding him, and then the sound of surf crashing against his carapace, but it all seemed to take place kio off in the distance. He groaned through the pain and slipped off again.
OOC: I would hope Ultron wouldn't give Dodge a weapon that could kill, but this is definitely not going to improve Fang's view of the school.
@Akavakaku That's what I figured when you didn't mention him getting blasted in your post. It's good to have someone there to drag Fang to the hospital. Otherwise, he'd either drown or wake up on the Nyrah shores in the morning, which probably wouldn't be good for a Rahkshi blasted with a Midak Skyblaster.
Sometimes I swear I'm the only one who remembers that official Bionicle measuring system from '02 or whatever. ![]()
IC: Chekquars (Party)
As the fighting began, the Darkness Rahkshi had taken the opportunity to slide out of the room, his cloak of cloth and shadow both covering him yet again as he left. It hadn't taken long to find out about what was going on, and Chekquars had been at the party for the majority of the time, hidden in the multitude of shadows and silently observing the room, both for his target and for other people, making sure he wasn't about to have his plans disrupted.
As he scanned the room, one Rahkshi in particular-and how they looked-made the aspiring evil overlord smirk with glee. A plan was already forming.
Separating from the shadows, he stepped through the crowds to complete the first part of his plan.
Zakaro
IC Mahrika
Chirox's Teeth
Yes, there it was. Fang's Kraata moved in a steady breathing rhythm. Mahrika breathed a sigh of relief, both because of Fang's survival and because the students of Corpus Rahkshi had yet to become real murderers.
But as Mahrika closed Fang's headplate and continued to tread water, supporting him, he faced a difficult truth: he couldn't carry Fang back to the school. Not in flight, at least. Maybe he could if he swam, but he didn't know how badly Fang was injured, and wasn't willing to risk such a lengthy journey. It wouldn't take long to get him to Nyrah, but there certainly weren't any Matoran healers who knew how to care for Rahkshi.
Maybe I can't fly his armor back to the school... but I can take his Kraata.
As far as Mahrika knew, Kraata could live without armor just fine... or at least, the old breed could. Could Fang? He would just have to find out.
First, though, something had to be done with Fang's armor. If it was left on the seafloor, it might never be found, if it wasn't destroyed by waves or sea monsters. So Mahrika swam Fang, armor and all, to the nearest Nyran beach. It didn't look like a place Matoran frequently visited. Or students, for that matter.
It took a few moments for him to find an alcove above the high tide line to hide the armor in, but he reasoned it was time well spent. Mahrika had never heard of a student getting a completely new set of armor. He didn't know if it was even possible.
With the armor secured, Mahrika removed Fang's Kraata, tucked it under his arm and flew like a Lohrak out of Mutran's lair back towards the school. He didn't care if he was seen by Suvak or anyone else: what could they do, punish him for saving another student?
Once inside, he ran straight for the medical wing. He threw open the door and hoped Palma was there.
IC: Omega
Omega had noticed Chekquars acting strangely. Omega walked up to Exxan.
"Chekquars is here. And I think he is making his move." He said.
IC: Exxan.
"What is these guy's problem?" Exxan grumbled.
IC: Xara.
The sudden explosion of light gave Xara pause, but only briefly. While the new arrivals shouted at one another and took shots at her, she took off over the Causeway. Dodge, weighed down by his heavy artillery, was bobbing and weaving through the teeth, and she easily overtook him.
Once she was far enough ahead, she spun around, flying on a collision course to Dodge, swords leveled at him as if she were jousting.
Where in the name of Mata Nui was Glass?
OOC: ... How is a rifle heavy artillery? This isn't a stanrd Midak.
IC: Dodge-256
"Too easy."
256 had two options; xhe could dodge this strike either using his powers or simply steering away. Or xhe could take the shot.
256 raised the rifle, squinted behind his goggles, pulled the trigger, and pulled up.
IC Shatter:
Shatter saw what was going on. He accelerated towards Dodge, spinning his hammer up and channeling Fragmentation energies into it.
IC: Exxan.
"What is these guy's problem?" Exxan grumbled.
Phogen grinned. She almost wanted to let Cheq do it. Actually, her deal with Snake was assistance in taking down his target, and identify his assassin. With all the help, she had paid him in full, no doubt. She did want to let Cheq do it. More to see how this rival worked than anything. So, she said to her companions "No problem of ours, methinks. Unless his show gets... Unruly."
She looked to Exxan "What's it you wanted, friend?"
IC: Omega
"His target is Snake. Keep that in mind." Omega said.
IC: Recoil
Recoil aimed her weapon at Shatter. Luckily these weapons are not usually deadly. She fired, aiming for the head.
IC Shatter:
Shatter glimpsed movement out of the corner of his eye and turned, barely dodging. He flew towards Recoil.
IC: Recoil
Recoil fired again, this time holding her breath.
IC: Xara.
Xara muttered a curse and immediately stopped flying, letting herself drop down away from the flying ball of light. She landed on top of one of the "teeth" of the Causeway, trying to come up with a new plan. She needed to get him on the ground and even the odds. And since she didn't have any ranged weapons (a problem she would need to remedy in future) she attacked Dodge with the only weapon she had. "Get down here you coward!" she spat. "You can't run forever, and I have more allies at the school. You want to fight me one on one out here, or agaisnt me and my group in there? You choice."
IC: Exxan.
"What did I want?" Exxan mused, "Nothing really. I'm just bored. Oh yeah, and The Twins told me earlier if you wanted to talk about striking a deal with them they're open for negotiations." he paused. "Are you sure letting Chekquars ruin the party is a good idea?"
"What did I want?" Exxan mused, "Nothing really. I'm just bored. Oh yeah, and The Twins told me earlier if you wanted to talk about striking a deal with them they're open for negotiations."
IC Phogen:
"I most certainly would like to speak with them, then. Feel free to have them meet me out in the hall, down a short ways. Its where I plan on setting up shop for this evening. You are more than welcome to come as well and chat." She leaned in to Exxan and whispered. "Makuta knows I could use the intellegent conversationalist in this crowd." To accentuate that point, a glass smashed against the wall about three feet to their left. It appears some partiers were aiming for the round air vent.
He paused. "Are you sure letting Chekquars ruin the party is a good idea?"
She purred a bit, eying the aforementioned Rahk. "Ruining the party would be stupid, something I do not find in Chekquars. Omega, let me know the results of his little game when it becomes visible. Now, I must really take up my post. Join me if you will." With that, she left the party, and went to the proper lookout point: An air grate about shoulder height, covered with an older, more intricate design than most, located down the hall from the repurposed bathroom.
IC: Omega
Omega watched Chekquars carefully..
IC: Exxan & The Twins.
He wandered back into the party and found The Twins, quickly explaining where Phogen was. Having nothing better to do, the pair followed him out into the corridor to meet with Phogen.
IC Shatter:
Seeing the projectile this time, Shatter was able to deflect it with his Hammer. The hammer also released the pent-up Fragmentation energies, cracking one side of the ammo as is spiraled away.
IC: Recoil
Recoil kept firing, starting to run low on ammo.
IC: Exxan and The Twins.
"Hempen-what-now?" Exxan was confused.
"We understand you have much influence in this school," Silencer cut right to the chase, not wasting words, "we would like to be part of your..." he couldn't think of the right word, so he settled for, "...gang ."
IC: Chekquars (Party)
As Omega returned his attention to Chekquars, he would see the Darkness Rahkshi closing a metal sphere, about the size of a closed fist, if not a bit larger. He tucks it into his cloak and then scans the area, calmly glancing over each being.
As his eyes pass over Omega, who likely tries to divert his gaze, Chekquars smirks inwardly. It seems that dear Phogen was here, as well, even if he couldn't see the ambiguous Rahkshi at the moment. At the very least, there was little doubt Omega was watching him on his/her command. Perhaps, then, if s/he wanted some interesting information, Chekquars would give messenger Omega a tale to tell.
After making sure his Rahkshi of Interest was still at the party, Chekquars made a show of glancing around and then ducking down, before obviously sneaking behind the band. Once out of sight, he slipped into the shadows and sneaks to a position where he could see both the spot he had 'sneaked' into and the exits. It would not do to let a little fun ruin his marvelous plan of detaining his target.
Zakaro
IC: Exxan and The Twins.
"Hempen-what-now?" Exxan was confused.
"We understand you have much influence in this school," Silencer cut right to the chase, not wasting words, "we would like to be part of your..." he couldn't think of the right word, so he settled for, "...gang ."
IC Phogen:
Ah, to have pieces fall into place. "I might perfer the term 'cabal'. It sounds much better than such an unrefined and brutal, albeit effective and clear word as gang." She folded her arms behind her head, grunting from their soreness. "In any case, I see no reason to deny you two wonderful gentlemen membership."
Then, she did something unexpected. She asked for an opinion. "Wouldn't you agree, Exxan?"
IC: Omega
Omega watched Chekquars, confused. He was obviously attempting to kill his target. And he was entitled to do so. Omega relaxed and watched the show, grinning.
IC Shatter:
Shatter zigzagged left and right, dodging most of the shots. Just as he thought this would be easy, however, a shot grazed him and sent him spinning towards Recoil.
IC: Recoil
Recoil smacked Shatter with the butt of her launcher, sending him down towards the ground.
IC: Exxan.
Exxan recognised Phogen's words as a test, and hevwas good at tests. He sized up the duo.
The way they stood made it clear that they knew how to work well together. He'd seen the pair spar on occasion, and they'd demonstrated skill in using their chosen weapons.
However, he'd never seen them using their powers, so it was likely that their matching confusion colour schemes were disguises to mask their true abilities.
In summary, they seemed skilled, and capable of coordinating well with each other. But they had their secrets. How well would they work with the rest of Phogen's "cabal"? He would leave that for Phogen to decide.
"They have potential," was all he said.
IC Shatter:
As he fell, Shatter quickly put his hammer on his back. He drew back his hand, concentrating his power into it, and grabbed onto the side of the pillar. The mini explosions and ruptures created a handhold, and from there his Rahkshi strength did the rest as he held on.
IC Phogen:
It was more than the twins that had potential. Phogen grinned. "Agreed! You two are in." She invited them all to sit. "So, I think we know veryclittle about each other. I think now is as good a time as any to share. After all, we are founding something here."
IC: Recoil
Recoil flew off to help Dodge.
IC: Exxan and The Twins.
Silencer and Illusive sat down, but Exxan stayed standing, slouching against the wall. He'd taken out the bloodied knife and was once more tossing it from hand to hand.
"You first," he told Phogen with a wry smile.
IC Shatter:
Shatter grinned. Then he let go, slamming his feet together just as he hit the water. It was colder than expected, and Shatter shortly burst from the water, heading on an intercept course for Recoil.
IC: Recoil
Recoil kept on her path, unaware of Shatter pursuing her.
IC: Glass
Perfect.
Dodge was facing away from Glass. He flew up and charged towards Dodge silently, his Rahk Staff discharging Chain Loghtnig as he got close.
