IC: Booger-Causeway
Booger snickered and turned to leave.
IC: Deadeye
"Grrrr.....!!!" Deadeye couldn't say much or his chin would be sliced up. He continued to struggle.
IC: War
War walked up to the struggling rahkshi. He slammed his giant sword into the ground a millimeter away from his feet.
Death looked at Famine and said: "The other rahkshi is gone. Let him go."
Famine took the lasso away.
IC: Booger-Causeway
Booger walked off into the crowd to find someone else to pick on.
IC: Deadeye
Deadeye growled and went to go find Root. He found him in the crowd and tapped him on the back.
*I'm taking care of this.*
IC Vir
Corridors, near Refectory -> Causeway
Vir sighed. "Well, you don't have to come, but if you change your mind I'd like to join your team." Vir hoped Melody did reconsider. They walked off to the Causeway.
OOC: That lasso drained Deadeye's energy. If anything he should be tired.
IC: Famine, War, Death, Pestilence
They decided to follow Deadeye to make sure he wouldn't cause more trouble. War decided to follow Booger.
IC Poly:
*he is not using his freedom wisely*
~that's his choice~
True, we cannot enforce order on freedom.
It is his to do as he will.
In a way, we were amused. Despite our bright green body, and lithe, strong build, we often went completely unnoticed.
Unless we put ourselves into a conversation, most were content to simply look us over.
we smiled.
Hiding in plain sight, indeed.
OOC: Poly open for interaction.
IC: Melody-Hallway
"G-g-goodbye." Melody tried to decide what to do next.
IC: Exxan - Causeway.
I sighed. Another fight. Will these people never learn?
IC: Jayar / Causeway
No, Fang might look better, but his mind... Jayar could perceive that it was worse off.
But he had no idea how he might help.
OOC: Last post of night.
IC: Fang - Causeway
Fang swayed with the punch and nodded. If there was anyone he could trust, it would probably be Kat. She needed to know.
"Earlier... when I was fighting Caoutchouc... I wasn't talking about Exxan."
IC: Root - Causeway
Root turned and sprung back at the sight of Deadeye. "T-t-taking care of w-w-what?"
IC: Toxin/1st Person/Infirmary ---> Causeway
My gash and kneecap was healed. After saying thanks to Palma, I looked over to my brother, he was sleeping, and wasn't healed yet. By the time he wakes up, I'll be headed to the Causeway. I left him a note.
I met up with Bullseye and Punch on the Causeway, there were happy to see me upright.
OOC: Again, that's his rational side taking control.
IC: Deadeye
"A little thank you would be nice." Deadeye said.
IC: Melody-Her Room
Melody went up to her room, she had decided to sit this one out.
OOC: I tried, click, really I did.
IC Kat: Try as I might, I couldn't remember the conversation that had happened..... Just the anger...
In a low voice, almost one of shame, I asked, "What...what do you mean....?"
OOC: Root doesn't know about Deadeye's sudden change, so basically he's really confused right now. And I don't blame you, Scorp.
I had to read it all over again.
IC: Root - Causeway
Had Deadeye truly been defending him? A nemesis turned ally this quickly? What had brought about this change of heart, unless it was all a trap meant to lure him into a false sense of security, only to be vanquished suddenly!
There could only be one question to ask. "W-w-why?"
IC: Fang - Causeway
With Vaalku forgotten for the moment, Fang looked back to the ground. His words came out as barely audible. "The violence. Exxan never turned to violence to solve his problems, only to defend himself. Omega decided to fight, and Exxan killed him.
"But Caoutchouc was right. I am familiar with violence. It used to be what I fell back on, but I know better now. That's why I understand Exxan. I know how it feels to end a life."
IC: Exxan - Causeway.
Still standing in among the crowd of Rahkshi, I thought I heard my name through the clamour of voices, reaching my ears like a whisper. I turned around, looking for the source, finally spotting Fang talking with Kat.
My curiosity getting the better of me, I cautiously approached them. I wasn't sure what kind of mood Fang was in right now, and the last thing I wanted to do was get on his bad side.
I was already treading on thin ice as things were.
IC Vaalku
Exxan. Vaalku had just saw his face in the crowd there. He wasn't too surprised, who wouldn't want to get this done? He really wanted to go talk to him, but considering he had just been with Rubberahk, it would probably be best not to. He continued to stand by Revenge and wait for some official to arrive.
IC: Deadeye
"Keep your friends close and keep your enemies closer. That guy was a jackass anyway."
OOC: Huzzah for character development!
IC: Root - Causeway
Maybe Deadeye was crazier than he had originally thought. Yet somehow he was maintaining this air of normalcy despite being near his self-proclaimed nemesis! Root tried to slip off into the crowd, but it was difficult being as... unique as he was.
IC: Fang - Causeway
Fang's eyes never left the ground. He didn't have the will to lift them. It left him oblivious to whoever might be listening, not that he cared.
"That Matoran funeral, well... I wasn't just watching out of curiosity. It was my fault. It was our travelling company's first raid. It was also the day we lost Hoto."
Fang gazed down at her painfully. She had never heard this part of the story, and her dim eyes were wide with disbelief. He could barely force himself to continue.
"Getting beaten by the Rahkshi fresh out of the tube hadn't put me in the best light. Everyone assumed I was just a coward. A weakling. I had no choice but to participate, or they were going to kill me, or leave me to die at the Matorans' hands. It all was going well. The others pushed around a few Matoran, grabbed a few trinkets and plenty of food, and they were going to leave. Then one of them caught sight of the Turaga's hut. In their mind, the elder of the village must have great treasures, and who better to fetch them than me? I resisted, but they threatened me. Inside was a single Matoran trying to defend her Turaga. I tried to explain that I just wanted something valuable enough to take back to my companions, but she didn't understand. I did everything I could, but... I grew frustrated at her incomprehension. I snapped. Before I knew it I had melted through her armor, and what was left of her heartlight was no longer flashing."
He took a deep, shuddering breath and continued in a choked voice. "The others... they congratulated me. It was... a harder group... than here. But they quickly came to realize I regretted it. They... only kept me around out of... fear, or respect. But I didn't want to stay. From then on... I sat out of any raids. I became an outcast among them. Hoto wasn't so lucky."
He turned to her again and knelt at eye level. She seemed to face any direction but him, and she cringed as she heard his voice again. "They knew you couldn't find your way alone. Our Makuta had ensured they take you, but it would be easy to just leave. The Matoran clean up the mess, and they don't have to travel with a blind, gentle Rahkshi. I was... too shaken to notice... until it was too late."
Without warning, Hoto took off toward the school, and Fang was left kneeling on the ground. "You... you at least... understand, Kat?"
IC: Hoto - Causeway to Gym
She couldn't bear to listen to it again. She knew every detail by heart. She could remember the voices fading into silence, the clicks of her mad rush through houses and broken Matoran. Only her Dodge powers had kept her from hitting some things, but she couldn't... see then. She was lost, alone, and afraid. There was no reason at all that the Matoran should have taken pity on her, and they didn't. She barely made it out with her life.
And here she was again, just running, trying to get away from the painful words. She didn't know where she was going. She didn't really care either. Her legs just carried her through hallway after hallway. Suddenly, Rahkshi started appearing in her way as if they came up from the floor. She spun and leaped, but there were too many, and they were too fast. One knocked her to the ground, and she looked up to find...
Nothing but a practice dummy. She'd ran to the Gym, and she knew exactly why. Hoto pushed herself up and whipped out her staff. All around, the other dummies sank back into the floor except this one. Arms sprung out and began rotating faster and faster, wobbling up and down. Hoto just let her Dodge powers take over and ducked and jumped around the arms. Then, with a quick spin at her legs, the dummy tripped her, and she hit the ground.
"Again!" She shouted as she jumped back up. The arms spun and rocked, and Hoto easily weaved around them until another one caught her shoulder and sent her spiraling to the ground. She pushed up in a fury. She needed to get a hit in. But the arms spun too fast. It was hard to keep track of everything, and she didn't even have the time to swing. There. Her staff flew at an apparent opening, only to be knocked aside, and Hoto quickly joined it. She didn't bother getting back up. She couldn't do it. The company was right. Fang was right. The Makuta was right. She couldn't fight. What use was a blind, peaceful Rahkshi to the Makuta?
IC: Exxan - Causeway.
"Oh..." I couldn't find the words. I'd walked into something that was obviously none of my business, and now I didn't know what to do with myself. What was I supposed to do? Tell Fang I was sorry; as if my word meant something to him? Pretend that I knew exactly what he was going through; act as if I understood him perfectly now?
He didn't want my sympathy, or my friendship. Even though we'd both taken lives, we weren't the same.
In the end I just stood there, saying nothing. We're too different...
IC: Rail - Causeway
Rail watched as the fight was broken up, the two real combatants stalking back off into the crowd.
"Morons," he sighed, shaking his head as he folded his arms over his chest.
Ic: Hashan
Hashan heard the porters and went to the causeway.
Ic: Siren
Siren heard the porters. She put down her book and went over to Causeway.
Ic: Rotary
Rotary's ears perked up at the porters. Assignment? Count him in! He walked over to the causeway.
Ic: Vinnie Jiminy.
"Yeah, thanks I guess." He walked away. He didn't hear the porters.
Ooc: Hashan, Siren & Rotary available to interaction on causeway.
IC The Twins (Illusive) - Causeway.
We stood side by side near the back of the crowd. Silencer was slouching back agaisnt the wall, while I leaned on my staff, tapping my claws agaisnt the shaft. We were both impatiently brooding, waiting for our task to be revealed.
How much longer?
________________________________________________________________________________________________
IC: Era - Causeway.
I eventually reached the Causeway, drawn by the noise. Zelnos was still with me, and I turned towards him as we exited out into the open air. "Have you done any of these assignments before? What are they like?"
OOC: I hope the Zelnos bunnying is okay with you, Shadow_Ignited.
IC: Glass
On cue, a porter rolled past the open dorm room.
"Students wishing to participate in assigned testing will gather at the Causeway, to await further instruction."
"I think you're right."
IC: Xara - Dorm.
I picked up Sand, cradling her in my arms. "Do you want to go dig up the beach, or do the assignment first?"
IC: Glass
Now here was a predicament Glass was unqualified to solve.
"Well, Sand doesn't seem to be completely fine with this place, and I can't ask you to wait here... We could bring her!"
IC: Floor
Hilt ready, Floor was already on the Causeway.
IC: Xara - Dorm.
"Fine with me," I said, slightly distracted while stroking the slick fur of Sand's back. She purred contentedly. "You want to go hurt some people?" I asked the kitten. "Of course you do." I looked up at Glass. "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's get going."
IC: Glass
"She could fit in my pack," Glass suggested as they passed by his room. He gently lowered the kitten in there and put a fish inside.
"Stay down and stay low," he whispered as he pulled the straps across his shoulders.
She... Doesn't understand.
I told you, these demons understand us perfectly fine.
"What do you think?" He asked as Sand looked out from under the backpack's flap.
IC
"That Matoran died fighting to defend what they believed in, they chose to die fighting. What are you doing for your belief's? Failing and getting beat up? Shifting from mood to unctrolled mood? Don't pity the matoran you killed, pity yourself."
That was a rather assaulting speech that Caoutchouc considered giving to Fang. Missing his last punch had been unfortunate, whatever was lodged in the dark corners of his brain was still there. Twisting and cutting the gray matter.
But, the elastic rank was aware which harsh indictment would only anger or hurt Fang. So he stood quietly, watching Exxan watch Fang watch Kat and Hoto. The blind rank running away like some crazy woman from a book.
With a stare that was, if possible, blanker than the vacuumrahk's.
IC: Xara - Glass' Dorm.
"I... Ah... I don't think she understands you..." I said hesitantly, "...I was kind of joking when I was talking to her before."
IC: Glass
"Well no kidding."
IC: Xara - Dorm.
"Let's just get to the Causeway." I suggested. "And don't let the cat out of the bag."
IC: Glass
Glass stated at her.
"Ahahaha!"
Ahahaha!
Ahahaha!
Ahahaha!
"Let's go."
IC: Xara - Hallway.
"Are you okay?" I asked him, stepping a little closer to get a better look at his face. I tapped the side of his faceplate, trying to gauge if his reaction was normal or not. "My joke wasn't that funny." He was acting strangely, and it was starting to worry me.
IC: Jayar / Causeway-->Gym
Jayar listened to Fang's history in silence.
He had never faced hardships or tragedies. Even Omega's death had meant little to him, though he hated to admit it. And hearing others speak of their difficulties, he felt guilty somehow. Life has dealt him a better hand then them. Why? He didn't deserve it.
What would he have done in their place?
He couldn't just watch as Hoto ran off in anguish. With a brief nod to his companions he followed her to the Gym, watched her knocked over by a training dummy, and stay down, defeated.
He walked over to her and extended a hand to help her up. "Are you alright?" he asked.
IC: Glass
"Err..."
Glass was a little unsure on what to do with Xara touching him, and being so close.
"I'm fine. That was actually pretty funny, so yeah..."
IC: Hoto - Gym
Hoto took a deep breath and took the offered hand before replying. "I-I'm f-fine," she choked out. "It... It was only a little b-battering."
Of course, her body was fine. She was tougher than that. But her mind felt like it was tearing itself apart. She just wanted to lay there and wait for the Makuta to just end it all.
But here was Jayar to remind her why she kept living. She couldn't resist wrapping her arms around him tightly. She couldn't use words.
IC: Fang - Causeway
Fang looked up to see not only Kat listening in, but Exxan and Caoutchouc. Had it been any other time, he would have shouted and threatened to get them away. But they didn't look on with anger or confusion or pity. He couldn't have expected the blank looks nor how much more discomfort they caused. He could bear their shouting and their blows, but silence was new.
"Well...?" He trailed off, unsure of what to say. Did he even want the opinions of the two Rahkshi he could genuinely say he hated? It would be better than the stares.
IC: Deadeye
"Besides..." Deadeye continued. "Only I can hurt my nemesis."
*Let's agree never to kill him.*
Killings your job anyway.
