  • OOC: Thanks for keeping Lepidran up to date with things Sam Nex :)IC: Lepidran was thrilled at this opportunity. Finally a chance to actually make a difference on this island! No more loosing himself in dusty tomes, he could actually help! And by the sound of it, the challenges they would face required brainpower rather than brute strength, which suited him down to a tee. There was a slight undertone of fear to his elation though; whatever was being proposed here would undoubtedly be dangerous. he could end up injured or killed. But he quashed these worries. Fear was the enemy of duty after all. He'd need to stand firm if he could follow this enigmatic destiny

  • IC: "Well, you two certainly seem joy-excited," Lekua commented, returning to his place by Aurax and Lepidran as the mysterious Matoran departed. "What was that about?" His tone was slightly disgruntled; it seemed as though this venture was just one secret being withheld from him after another.

  • IC (Khalisk)"You are certain?" Khalisk wondered what sort of people would build a village here, where one slip could spell your doom. It was certainly safe from attack, but according to Twenty-Eights information, there was no organized force to launch such an attack. Unless her information was inaccurate, which was possible. He would find out soon enough, he supposed. "Well, let's not tarry then. The sooner I can get my bearings, the better." Khalisk begun to walk forwards, hoping that a blizzard wouldn't suddenly kick up and make their journey to this village even harder.

  • IC: "I see," Lekua replied. The group fell into an uncomfortable silence. Given Stannis' track record, Lekua didn't see much hope in him agreeing to share whatever was going on with the rest of the group, but there wasn't much he could do at the moment. He crossed his arms and looked down at the snowy ground beneath him, shifting his weight periodically from one leg to the other. So Aurax is unwilling to make a decision and leaves everything up to Stannis, Lekua thought darkly. Coward.

  • IC (Khalisk)"Excellent....let us proceed." Khalisk carefully maneuvered his way down the frozen mountainside. The ice was slippery of course, forcing him to into the side with his staff on a few occasions to steady himself. The fact he was much larger and less maneuverable then the average islander was also a factor. Once or twice he almost fell completely. By the end of it, he level with the village. He hoped this village had the information he came for, his guide had said it did, but Khalisk didn't know how accurate her knowledge was.

  • IC (Khalisk)"Excellent. Now....where is this wall you spoke of? I am quite eager to see it." Khalisk was straining his good eye looking for the most likely location of the aforementioned wall. It didn't seem to be exposed to the open air, that much he could tell. The village was a marvel of course, fashioned out of pure ice and snow. Even by Khalisk's limited experience, it would be an ideal place to make a stand, only one entrance, relatively solid buildings...he could see why this village did well in this harsh land.

  • IC (Khalisk)Khalisk nodded and gestured with his staff towards on the larger buildings carved out of the glacial ice. "I presume the predominant structure in the village is the sanctum? If so, let us not tarry." The Vortixx made his way through the village, occasionally weaving to the side as a group of Ko-Matoran walked down the same path as he. He was careful not to lose his guide, but all the same he was moving much faster then he normally did. This Wall of Prophecies would be an ideal tool for him to use in his attempt to understand the island he now called home.

  • IC (Khalisk)Khalisk entered the Sanctum and gasped despite himself. He could see the words carved into the building all about him, with a few scribes still at work about the chamber. "This is amazing..." His voice had a flat, dull tone to it. He hadn't expected something like this, maybe a shrine and some scrolls...but not this. "How long did this take to make?" He was talking mostly to himself now, approaching a part of the wall with slow measured steps, his good eye gorging on the information contained within it. "Fascinating..." He ran his fingers over a few of the carvings, then, suddenly, his eyes narrowed. "Twenty-Eight? There are several references to a...Makuta here. Is this a type of Rahi?" His eyes scanned that part of the wall again, narrowing even further as he did so. "No...that doesn't seem likely...." His voice trailed off as he bent forwards to examine the wall further.

  • IC: [Twenty-Eighth]"Makuta ... is an evil being that supposedly resides underneath Kini-Nui," she said. "I remember a story the Turaga told us about him and Mata Nui."She took in a deep breath, and began to quote from memory the stories she had heard so long ago."In the time before time, the Great Spirit descended from the heavens, carrying we, the ones called the Matoran, to this island paradise. We were separate and without purpose, so the Great Spirit blessed us with the three virtues: unity, duty, and destiny. We embraced these gifts and, in gratitude, we named our island home Mata Nui, after the Great Spirit himself. But our happiness was not to last. Mata Nui's brother, Makuta, was jealous of these honors and betrayed him. Makuta cast a spell over Mata Nui, who fell into a deep slumber. Makuta's power dominated the land, as fields withered away, sunlight grew cold, and ancient values were forgotten.Still, all hope was not lost. Legends told of six mighty heroes, the Toa, who would arrive to save Mata Nui. Time would reveal that these were not simply myths - for the Toa did appear on the shore of the island. They arrived with no memory, no knowledge of one another - but they pledged to defend Mata Nui and its people against the darkness. Tahu, Toa of Fire. Onua, Toa of Earth. Gali, Toa of Water. Lewa, Toa of Air. Pohatu, Toa of Stone. And Kopaka, Toa of Ice. Great warriors with great power, drawn from the very elements themselves. Together, they were six heroes with one destiny: to defeat Makuta and save Mata Nui.""Except ..." she said. "They failed."

  • IC (Khalisk)Khalisk shook his head, wondering what exactly he had landed in the middle of. Every instinct he had told him to tie together some wood and take his chances on the high seas. He ignored them, knowing that some monstrous sea Rahi would have him as a side dish if he did so. "Are there....any...indications of the whereabouts of these Toa now? Or did they simply vanish?" He had so many questions regarding this island, and attempting to answer them had only brought yet more questions. "I will....study this wall for a time. I need....to...gather my thoughts. This is...quite alot to take in."

  • IC (Khalisk)Khalisk nodded. "This is a land of darkness now I think." He ran his fingers over one the carvings indicating the Toa gently. "Destiny...I think, is merely to comfort those who would prefer to stay inside, by the fire...warm and safe. The only way things will change is if they get up and do something about it. Destiny is...after all, just a word." He was speaking to himself now, lost in his thoughts and in the carvings he was now reading.

  • IC (Khalisk)Khalisk's voice was quiet now, contemplative. "Tell me, my guide, how long has it been since your hero's vanished? Have your champions, these new Toa who arrived...." Khalisk squinted for a moment, and ran his fingers over a particular carving three times. "... succeeded where the old Toa failed? My guide, I think that the only way this....Makuta...can be beaten lays within your people. Not in hero's...not in words upon a wall. Words....are merely words. Actions speak louder."

The death of these Toa show us this much. But...perhaps, there is time yet for you to save yourselves. For your sake, I hope it is so. The alternative does not bear thinking about." There is much for me to learn."

  • IC (Khalisk)"Mm. Very well." Khalisk was lost to the world now, reading by sight with his good eye when he could and reading my feeling with his fingers when he could not. This island had a dark history indeed, it seemed to be one brave light being snuffed out after another. He marveled (silently of course) at the durability of the villagers in this land. They had to withstand so many perils simply to exist....and yet, they had managed to build and maintain this village. Khalisk was quite impressed.

He said, already half-way sucked back into his readings. He tilted his head slightly, as he eyed yet another section of the wall. "This wall mentions a Turaga? Judging from the context, it's some sort of wise being....or shaman." He wondered over to that section of the wall, tracing the carvings with his hands, ever-hungry for information.

  • IC (Khalisk)Khalisk nodded, assimilating this information. "I need time to...think about all of this. If it is quite alright with you, I need to....walk about the village. Locomotion I find, helps me think. My thoughts flow better then I am moving. I would prefer to do this alone....not that I find your presence unpleasant, quite the opposite actually but I need to be alone for now. There is...not what I expected." Khalisk's mind was still reeling at all that he had learned, he knew this was likely only the most general of histories and he knew that some of it, being from a wall of prophecy, was likely inaccurate.

  • IC (Khalisk)Khalisk wondered out of the Sanctum then, still contemplating all he had learned. The implications of it were staggering, this was an island at war that much was clear. But the mere fact that so many sentient beings clang to life here spoke to an inner courage most of them had to possess. Lesser beings would have migrated to another island, or clustered together in a grand fortress...and yet, here individual villages still maintained themselves without having to resort to such measures. He wondered through the village, scarcely paying attention to his surroundings as he grappled with these thoughts. When he looked up, he found he'd wondered beyond the villages entrance. He looked about, attempting to spot the small entrance Twenty-Eight had pointed out. Then he heard a noise, a whistling wind. He barely had time to turn about before a blizzard, fresh from the mountain slopes, hit the area around Ko-Koro. Khalisk reeled, the stinging snow blinding him in his one good eye. His stretched his hands outwards, trying to find some surface, some recognizable landmark to navigate by. He found no such thing, he merely stumbled forwards blindly, becoming ever more lost as he did so. Suddenly, his foot hit something hard and jagged and he fell forwards...right off of a cliff. He plummeted downwards, hoping against hope that he wouldn't hit a set of rocks. Thankfully, this universe was kind and he landed on a rather large snowdrift.OOC: He's on the way Kal.
