  • IC-Kalen:Kalen wondered about the halls of his academy, the empty rooms that were there reminding him of his old comrades, now either dead or apostate. It saddened him, but his sadness only gave him strength, as did many other emotions. Anger, hatred, love, all could empower him, give him the ability to do what he needed. He continued wandering his halls. As Khalisk stood up, he would notice something, glaring at him. A Muaka. The Vortixx staggered back, before realizing that the Muaka was dead, a large gash along its side, pooled blood pointing in the only free direction in the ravine.

  • IC (Khalisk)Khalisk stumbled forwards, there was a new pain in his left leg to compliment the wounds that the fall had torn open once more. The massive Rahi that had, seconds ago, looked so threatening would make as good a landmark as any. He avoided the blood, stepping over it when he could and reluctantly moving through it when he could not. He did not now how far he had wondered or how far he had fallen. His sense of direction was completely turned about, he reasoned his only chance was to follow this path to wherever it leader. If he was lucky, he would find a cave or some other place to shelter in before he froze to death. The blizzard was still raging in full force, limiting his field of vision and stinging his one good eye until it was all but useless.Still he moved forwards, half-formed images in front of him. More of the great cats seemed to have fallen around here, or least, that was what the shapes looked like. This was confirmed a moment later when he tripped over the bloody carcass of yet another of the unfortunate Rahi. He kept a firm hand on his staff as he plunged it into the ground and used it to pull himself up from the corpse. A slightly warm liquid now coated the front of his body, he knew what it was, but he didn't want to dwell on that now. He needed to keep moving, with luck, it would help keep him warm. Then, suddenly, the storm seemed to let up, if only for a moment. He spotted a large shape in the distance during that period of grace and he renewed his efforts to move forwards. The life was leaving his body, slowly but surely, but perhaps that shape indicated a cave, at the very least, he could shelter behind it.

  • IC-Kalen:Kalen walked along inside, momentarily passing the opening to the academy. He eyed the armourweave protosteel cloth in the way of the door, smiling. Such a useful substance. It was but a thin, diaphonous sheet of the translucent material, and yet it helped to keep the heat in so well that, if given the choice, Kalen would pick those over a standard door.Farther out in the snowy wastes, Kalen noticed a being, walking among the carcasses, a Muaka. Who knows, this one might get lucky and avoid one of the still-living Muaka. If not, well, he'd certainly be tested on his way to the Pyramid. Time would soon tell.Kalen walked along, continuing to think within his empty halls.

  • IC (Khalisk)Suddenly, something reared up in the white murk in front of Khalisk. The Vortixx squinted, trying to determine if it was a rock formation or another corpse. Then it struck, it's head launching forwards with a mighty roar. Khalisk stumbled backwards, trying to bring his staff to bear. The creature missed him, but only be a fraction of an inch. The force of the impact threw him backwards, sending him sprawling into a nearby snowdrift. His hands fumbled around blindly, seeking his staff. All the while, the massive creature was moving towards him, jaws open in anticipation of an easy meal. Suddenly he felt something cold, something metal. Bringing his staff to bear, Khalisk pulled the small trigger built into the staff. Suddenly, there was the small of ozone and the sound of lightning as a bolt of pure electricity tore across the air and into the Rahi beast. The great cat stumbled, seeming unsure of it's foot as it sought to line up another strike on it's prey. Khalisk pulled the trigger again sending another bolt of electricity at the Rahi. This time in retreated, slowly but surely, giving it's opponent a wide berth as it's contemplated it's next move. Khalisk would give it no such luxury, he pulled the trigger again. Yet another bolt of pure electricity slammed into the Rahi, sending it backwards and towards the edge of the ravine. The beast fought to right itself and to strike again at it's prey. Moving as quickly as he could, Khalisk stood up and pointed his staff directly at the beasts head. With not a moment to spare as the Rahi righted itself at last, he pulled the trigger once more....and he missed. The creature charged forwards, fangs bared, intent on ripping the Vortixx to shreds.Panicking, Khalisk pointed his staff forwards, his hands fumbled for the trigger, but there was no time for that as the beast continued to close the distance. With the most menacing battle cry he could muster he thrust his staff forwards as the beast lunged at him. There was a sickening sound and a spray of fresh blood hit Khalisk. The beast flailed and roared in agony as the last of it's life left it's body. Then it collapsed, and fell to the ground. With a pull, Khalisk freed his staff from the beast. He was drained, he could barely keep himself moving....but he had to reach shelter.

  • IC-Kalen:Definitely a prospect. Kalen turned, beginning to move throughout the halls to his personal room, the only room that was now furnished, due to his being the sole occupant. Khalisk would come soon enough.

  • IC (Khalisk)The Vortixx stumbled forwards, he thought he saw a light in the distance, but it could have been his overtaxed mind and body playing a cruel trick on him. Nonetheless, it was his only chance. Every step sent fresh waves of agony screaming throughout his body. He used his staff for support, but even with it he couldn't stay moving for long. The light seemed to be all around him now, but he couldn't tell if it was truly real or just a cruel illusion. He stepped forwards, feeling something give way before him and suddenly...he was surrounded by warmth and he could hear the sound of blazing fires. His vision slowly cleared, this was more then he had hoped for, this was building or at least, an inhabited cave of some sort. He moved towards one of the fires, eager to warm his freezing body.He winced as another shot of pain made itself known as he raised his hands to make use of the fire. He was in bad shape, there was no singular part of his body that didn't hurt. Nonetheless, as the warmth flowed over him and gradually chased the cold from his body, he began to feel slightly better. He took a moment to look about the room, it was clearly an entry way of some sort, but who, if anyone dwelt here?

  • IC-Kalen:Kalen hid in the shadows, out of the Vortixx's eyesight, though the Vortixx was paying him no attention as it was. He slipped back away quickly, not bothering the being yet. If he turned his head to his right, he would see a small tray, with a loaf of bread, a small container of honey, and a knife sitting beside him.

  • IC (Khalisk)One of Khalisk's generous supply of pains and life-threatening conditions had at been removed at the very least. He was no longer in danger of freezing to death. Of course, now that he was no longer distracted by the cold, he was free to catalog the plethora of pain that now made his body home. Khalisk groaned as he lurched away from the fire to survey the rest of the room. He noticed the food the second his gaze fell upon it. This proved the place was inhabited and a growl emitting from his stomach informed him that he needed the food much more then they did. Moments later, the food had vanished like a piece of ice in Ta-Wahi. Khalisk looked about again, there could be no harm in searching for the owner of this building. He or she had to be about somewhere.

  • IC (Khalisk)Despite rather vehement protest from his limbs, Khalisk began to move through the building, eyeing the walls and architecture of the place. It wasn't dissimilar from the Sanctum in a few ways, but there was many differences as well. Whoever had built this place had known what they were doing, and judging from the Rahi graveyard outside, they knew how to defend themselves as well. "Hello? Is anyone here?" He didn't expect a response, he suspected sound didn't carry all that well in here. That and if he saw a being covered in Rahi blood wondering about his house, Khalisk wouldn't stick around for very long either.

  • IC-Kalen:Kalen heard the Vortixx's footsteps come closer to where his room was. Soon, the Vortixx would find himself blocked on three sides, the only open path going down a dark hall."Come," the Toa of Lightning said, his voice echoing down to Khalisk.

  • IC (Khalisk)Seeing that he had little choice in the matter, the Vortixx continued to move forwards. Although his grip on his staff had noticeably tightened. He didn't think this would end in bloodshed of course, but one could never be certain of anything on this island. Those who were, well, judging from the wall of prophecy, they tended to vanish with nary a trace.

He reached up, pulling down one of his many scrolls to look at it for a moment, before placing it back and continuing to meditate.

  • IC (Khalisk)Khalisk stepped through the film, more out of curiosity then anything. This was not what he had expected when he had entered Ko-Wahi, but to his credit, he adjusted quickly. From what he could see with his good eye, the being before him was Toa, one of the new Toa, mentioned by the wall of prophecy. "Greetings. I am Khalisk...you are?" Khalisk had picked up a few conversational niceties via observation, but he still needed to work on them.

  • IC (Khalisk)Intellectually, Khalisk wondered what this being wanted with him. Physically, he was about to drop dead from a combination of fatigue and pain. Now, one could debate all one liked about the mind being stronger the body, being able to push it past it's limits, but by the time one had opened their mouth Khalisk would have already been seated on the cushion on the floor. The Vortixx looked about the room, it was furnished and more...lived in then the rest of the building from what he had seen. This was an impressive building and Khalisk would have been willing to be that this being wasn't always it's sole inhabitant.

I stumbled over the edge of a cliff, hit a snowbank and followed the trail of dead Rahi." His voice was detached and matter of fact, he would provide greater detail if asked but at the moment he didn't see much point in it.

Kalen asked Khalisk, who was already beginning to fall asleep on the cot.
