IC: Garme"Doesn't matter, let's keep moving." The Ko-Matoran replied, not noticing the shadow of the creature climbing along the cave wall not far from them.
IC: Ka'deI shrugged. "Fine, fine."I thought that I heard something for an instant, but ignored it. It was probably just our footsteps echoing off of the cave walls. "Looking forward to seeing Ko-Koro?"
OOC: Ah, Chronn's back. Time for some FUN... :evilgrin:IC: InvisibleA lone Toa staggered through Onu-Koro, spouting an incessant flow of gibberish, mingling with cries of pain and the occasional cough. To any normal eye, he was drunk. But the eye of a killer or a doctor would notice something else entirely: the fearful Toa that was moving through the narrow streets of the underground city was about to die.He kept trying to walk, but it became too much for him. He flopped against the side of a building, the gibbering being replaced almost completely by his cries. In has last moment, it picked up again, his eyes widening, his arms lifting to cover his face. As he fell to Death, Invisible gave out one last scream. The building his corpse lay against was in pieces. On the last day he had been seen before his unusual disappearance, Invisible had regarded a sign similar to the one next to him, and attempted to prove the innocence of a Toa who, shortly afterwards, was fired. This sign could strike fear into the hearts of any criminal but one, a man who regarded it with cold indifference and a colder smirk. But the dead Toa knew nothing of this person. The dead Toa knew very little, actually — he had been remarkably unintelligent in his life. And yet now he was dead, lying next to the doorstep of Dark C Investigations, his arms still hiding his terrified face.OOC: Tell me, TDC...Does Chronn's mask see hallucinations? :sly:IC: ChromiaChromia nodded. "Yeah, that might be a good idea..."
OOC: Yes, it does. Whatever the person's mind thought he was seeing is what the mask shows.IC: ChronnThere was a thud against the front of my building, someone was out there. I decided, having not lain back for a quick sleep, that it was worth checking out. Stepping outside, I found the body laying there upon the ground. With a frown, I pried the corpses hands from his face. Not anyone I knew of, and I knew only one person who left bodies on my doorstep. Reichenbach.Enough was enough. It was time to end this little game, to bring Reichenbach down, with a dagger through his skull. I didn't even need to mask the body to know that much. But what it might know, the location of my target. He still would have no idea about my mask, I hadn't used it in the open. I had one tool Reichenbach didn't.Dragging the body inside, and pulling it back before resealing my back room, I began to reply the being's dying moments.IC: Garme"Yeah, maybe I'll find out why Ko-Matoran are supposed to like it so much."
IC: Ka'de"Perhaps."I walked around a bend in the tunnel that took the village out of our sight. "We probably should have gotten a lightstone in Onu-Koro. It's dark in here."
IC-Naut:"Alright," Naut said, bending down and picking up Commodum. He then shot a glare over at Caige and Chromia."If she wakes up while I'm carrying her," he said, "I blame you. If she wakes up after I have her in the room and freaks out, you two get to pay for my hospital bill." That said, he began to walk off to a free room where he could set Commodum down.
IC: Invisible (Death Replay)I fell against the wall, crying. I coughed again, covering it with my hand - more blood. As I looked up, I saw something terrifying. I knew him... I knew him...A Toa stood there, his armour a metallic dark grey, a handsome grin across his mask, shaped like a Faxon. He held a staff in his hand, topped with a crimson gem incased in silver. He tossed his head back and laughed. The vision faded, leaving darkness. If Chronn turned the body over, he would see a note, attached to its back:'Have fun with this. It'll be the last fun you have for a long time...- X'OOC: Surprise! It ain't Reich.
OOC: I just can't think of any good way to have Tuatara attack them... and he's not going down the tunnel, it would get too cold for him.IC: Garme"Yeah, lightstone wouldn't have hurt, would have made travel a bit easier. Because, you never know what Rahi may be residing int he tunnel, or how well they hunt in the dark, or if a stalactite above your head will fall and impale your skull, or if..." The Ko-Matoran replied, before stopping in her tracks. "Why are you following me, anyway?"OOC: Expected as much.IC: ChronnThe vision stopped, and I broke free, coughing painfully as my chest began to sting. No major injuries to the body, no blunt force trauma easily detectable, no water dislodged when slicing into the lungs... poison, venom. Some sort of toxin was used, something that didn't leave much of an external impact. That didn't seem right, Reichenbach liked to use a knife, not poison. Unless this wasn't Reichenbach... but there was something about it... that just seemed to have his mark upon it.Whoever it was, I was going to have to track them down. Then I'd find Reich, then he would die. I stepped out of my office, having sealed my back room behind me. After my last case, I had realized something. Having those two fools around had really lightened my work load, they were more useful than I had given them credit for. I could only imagine the use of competent employees. I'd have to start hiring again. This time, I'd make sure they weren't cool dudes.
OOC: Have him drop down from above while they're stopped?IC: Ka'de"Well, you seem to know the way to go." I too had stopped. "Why do you ask?"
IC: Xylak (from Kumu Islets)Xylak walked through Onu-Koro, whistling as he went. A Skakdi had handed him a large sack, which he carried over his shoulder, along with a small satchel. He followed a trail of bloodstains until he reached Chronn's door, which he rapped politely with his knuckles. He kept whistling, and payed no notice to the fact that the building was falling apart.
OOC: Sure, why not? :PIC: GarmeAs the Matoran was about to reply-IC: Tuatara-the reptile leaped down in front of the two Matoran. "The Green one is mine... revenge..."IC: ChronnI turned dully towards the missing front door, wincing as the hastily repaired bolts gave way, and the door collapsed inward. "Well, no sense in opening it now." I remarked toward the likely somewhat startled being outside. "What do you want?"
IC: Ka'deI raised my eyebrows, and pulled out my hammer. "You know this..... person?"
OOC: I really wanted to say it fell in, but wasn't sure how you'd take it. :PIC: XylakXylak set down the sack, and dragged it in. "Thedar Chronn, I assume? I've heard so much about you."There was a strange object inside the sack, which looked incredibly like a corpse. Xylak extended his hand — at least, the one that wasn't occupied with holding his staff, the crystal in which glowed gold. "Xylak Ansanarasar."
IC: Garme"Yeah, say it bound in sand inside of the hospital a while ago. I think my friends beat the scales off of it." Garme remarked, looking up towards the reptile who stood over them, weapon drawn in his hand. "This can;t be a good thing."IC: ChronnI looked down upon the corpse for a few moments, before turning up towards the person bringing it. "Are you here to report a murder, Xylak, or are you here to boast of your crimes for the few seconds it takes me to subdue you and get the answers I want?"
IC: Ka'de"Oh, I see. But if you didn't help beat it up, why would it want to have revenge on you?" An idea struck me, and I turned to the strange being in front of me. "Why do you want revenge on her?"
IC: XylakXylak smirked. "Neither. I am here to offer you my assistance."Xylak undid the knot on the sack and pulled it open, revealing Reichenbach's old Mahiki, the fangs glinting. "It's a beautiful piece of work, you have to admit."As he pulled the corpse out of the sack, he smiled. "He went to great lengths. He's brilliant. He could have done so much good. Look, here — he replicated every feature. The same sword, stabbing through the same place, and he even swapped masks. You don't often see faked deaths, but when you do, they're never done quite so meticulously. He even had witnesses. Stabbed himself in front of an audience, and made a hole in his chest for the sword. Then he got his body-double to bring him home so that he could kill him in his place."
IC: Garme"I have no idea... but last time he didn't even seen to be able to hear anything... so talking to him isn't likely to work." Garme commented with a frown."He's probably going to kill us."IC: TautaraWith a snarl, he bared his sharpened teeth, before lunging at the two Matoran, intent on killing.IC: Chronn"Seems he isn't quite as bright as he thought himself, doesn't it? I would call a Rahi more brilliant than this, Reichenbach was ever so slightly thinner and taller than this individual, though they he could easily be taken to be Reichenbach. He looked into the corpses eyes, taking in the color. "And his eyes are a small bit brighter." Chronn remarked, looking up at the being. "Faking your own death, seen it before, but never with a duplicate this close to being exact. Wonder who the unlucky fool who looked too close was. Doesn't really matter, he's dead now."
IC: Ka'deI knew I wasn't exactly the fastest of Matoran. So, instead, I just swung the hammer hard. With any luck, it'd hit him. If it failed... well, I wasn't going to think about that.
OOC: I would've thought that Chronn would have recognised Xylak as the laughing being in Invisible's last moments by now...IC: XylakXylak smirked again. "He took out all of his enemies with that fake. All but one."Xylak glanced at Chronn, and then he pulled a bottle of bubbling golden liquid from his satchel. "Thought you might want this. Apparently, most beings drink it at celebrations. I would think that discovering the exact location of an enemy through a reliable source would warrant one. I noticed that you were looking for employees; I am available for the time being, and require no pay. I'm tracking down a murderer, and it is my opinion that there's no better way to learn than to experience something first-hand. You're one of the only detectives left now. Your ex-employees have been stirring up chaos left right and centre, mind."
IC: TuataraThe hammer cracked him right in the face, stopping him as he winced, before turning back towards the two. He was madder, now he was going to kill them both. "Bad move, Matoran."IC: GarmeShe drew he one blade, which wasn't enough. her fighting style required both of her butterfly swords to work properly. This wasn't good.OOC: He has, he's just not going to say anything. Better not to let a potential foe realize it, seeing as they don't know his mask's power yet. His mask could be rather useful in the wrong hands. RPG rules may be against it, but Chronn doesn't know that.IC: ChronnI looked at the bottle he was holding with complete and utter distaste. Anyone who knew me knew my intense rejection of drinking. Maybe he did know... maybe it was a bit of a test on his part. "I don't drink." It seemed that he was trying to make his information sound better than it was. I could likely get all I needed just from the fake Reich's body. "Yes, I am hiring right now, if you can prove yourself worthy of the task. You want in, then find one of my ex employees, then bring them here so that I may speak to them, then we shall begin your testing."
IC: Ka'deI had been thinking while I'd hit the... thing in the face. I began to inch away from Sticky Fingers. If we were too close together, he could attack us both at the same time...
IC: XylakXylak grinned as he heard Chronn's words, and threw the bottle behind him. He threw it remarkably precisely; the bottle hit and instantly killed an approaching Fikou spider."No need. I was speaking to them not long ago, and they left for Le-Wahi. Hopefully, they got themselves killed. I have to say, your previous taste in employees hasn't been all that good — I knew Incommodo from shortly after he became the person anyone other than his slightly less foolish companion despises. He is hated even by his own sister. Heck, the poor Brakas even hates himself. He hates himself twice over, actually. It's amazing how someone can be stupid enough to be narcissistic and yet still indulge in self-hatred."
IC: Caige (Bar, Onu-Koro)"Wait, what."-Teezy
IC: Chromia"I think it might be for the best if we forget the drunk and retire to our room." Chromia suggested, standing in front of Caige so that she could face him directly.
IC: Caige (Bar, Onu-Koro)"Oh, right. Of course."-Teezy
IC: GarmeShe, on the other hand, was not thinking about fighting the creature unless she really needed to. She was trying to see how easily it would be to slip around him. She whispered towards Rockbrain, trying to keep the creature from overhearing, if it even could hear. "On the count of three, we both slip around one of his sides. One, two-"IC: Tuatara"Three..." He snarled, claws stretched wide, running past would be quote a bit more difficult.IC: Chronn"That is not the reason I wish one of them to be brought here. I have... other reasons that I must speak to them for. And on matters of which don;t concern you in any way. But if you bring one of them here, they I will think about allowing you to join my agency." I didn't care what they had gotten themselves into, there were more important matter than their worthless lives or whatever fragments were left of them.
IC: Ka'de"Oh. So it CAN hear." I frowned, trying to think of a way to get past. Then I had an idea."You know, I think I'll go get that lightstone after all. What do you say, Sticky Fingers?"
IC: Chromia"That does bring up the question of which room is ours."IC: XylakXylak raised an eyebrow. "As you wish, Thedar."OOC: Here he should, once again, see some similarities between Reich and Xylak.
IC: Garme"I think I'll join you for that... race to the village?" She knew she could probably outrun him if needed. At least she wouldn't be the one killed.IC: TuataraHe seemed completely oblivious to their words, though he seemed to be planning something.IC: Chronn"When you have found one, bring him back here." Then silently, he added the name "Reichenbach."
IC: Ka'deI grinned. "You're on!"Not waiting for her to start, I took off. I knew that there was a chance that we wouldn't be able to outrun him, but there had to be something we could do...
IC: XylakXylak smirked, and walked out of the doorframe.OOC: Xylak to Le-Wahi.
IC-Naut:"Room thirty-two," the Toa of Gravity said, walking off towards an empty room where he could put Commodum, as he prayed to Mata-Nui that she wouldn't wake up while they were both in the room.
IC: [uyism]"I see you are 'excited'."
IC-Holluk:"Not much better to do," Holluk said, coming to a cross-tunnel."Which way?"
IC: [uyism]Uyism pointed to the tunnel that had the sign 'Great Mine' near it.
IC-Holluk:Holluk nodded, dropping down to where he could run on all fours, his hand-arms free so that he could use them if needed.
IC: [uyism]Uyism followed.
IC: Incommodo & XylakWith a nice little time-skip, Incommodo and Arkrak arrived in Onu-Koro.However, Xylak appeared in front of them. "Incommodo, Arkrak. How... nice... to see you. Your ex-employer would like to speak to you."
IC: [Arkrak]"Oh bugger."
IC: Xylak"Follow me." Xylak began walking towards Dark C Investigations, Incommodo and Arkrak not far behind.
