IC: [Atonal]Atonal moved foward and knocked on the gates of Pala-Koro. "HELLO? Anyone in there?"
IC: SkrihenThe gate swung partway open, revealing a pale Toa of Plantlife. "What do you want?"
OOC: We could say, we have our six...plus Onuzek. Pretty sure he followed us into the Inn :3IC: Skyra - Bright-Star Inn, Le-koro -"And so," he said, "we have our six. Skyra. Skeldan. Weta. Pirok. Elianne."Merror turned to look at each of us as he spoke our names, I couldn't help but feel proud, this was the start of something great, I could feel it."And Merror. My friends - my brothers - a Toa Team is more than a group of beings. It is a symbol, of light, of honour, of courage. This island is falling into darkness, and the Matoran need people they can look to. People who will protect them as duty demands, and not ask for pay or thanks. Someone must answer the call. We must answer the call."The Toa of Fire spoke with passion, that determination blazing once again in his eyes. People began to turn from their drinks and conversations to gaze at Merror as he spoke."When the night is darkest," he said, "when wisdom fails, when valour falters - "Now I had already known this from seeing Merror in action in the past, but I had to admire his public speaking skills. I myself wasn't afraid to speak out when needed, but Merror had something I didn't, something that only a leader possessed, the ability to truly inspire. His piercing gaze surveyed each new team-member as he paced from side to side." - when faith dies, when strength crumbles, when heroes fall - "The beings in the bar sat silent, all staring at the Toa of Fire. Merror spoke on, raw emotion in his voice and fire in his eyes. Faces flashed through his memory as he spoke, faces that had so often plagued his mind with guilt - but now, they gave him strength. A tear welled in one of his eyes.I felt a tear drop off my own face, I knew his pain a bit better than most, I'd been their with him when Tamaru had died. My mind also drew me to thing of the people who had died at that hospital in Ta-koro, that so called 'Lord of Winter' had taken many lives that day, and as hard as I tried I had failed to stop him, and I knew why...it was because I had tried to stop him alone." - when the sky turns black and the sun is dead, and the wind howls in the emptiness, when all else is gone, one thing remains!""ONE THING!" Merror roared, his arms spread wide. He gazed down at them all for a few moments, as they stared up in awe. He lowered his arms."Hope."Reaching back over his shoulder, he drew one of his swords and held it horizontally above the table. But I wasn't alone anymore, not this time. I had new teammates, companions...friends. By myself I could only do so much, as hard as I had tried to make a difference, it was never enough, as much as my pride tried to convince me otherwise, I wasn't strong enough, but together...we could make a real difference. "By my sword," he said, looking with steely eyes to his brothers to do the same. I merely grinned as everyone drew their weapons, I in turn unsheathed one of my katanas. It's laser tip glowed a bright green as I raised it horizontally over the table with my comrade's weapons. "By my katana."
IC: [Atonal]"We," he said, gesturing to himself and Jenali, "were exploring. Or at least, I was. Then I got lost and met up with her, and we ended up looking for Le-Koro so I could get something to eat. Then we found this place."
IC: Skrihen"This is Pala-Koro, not Le-Koro. In case you hadn't noticed."
IC: [Atonal]"Yeah, we did. We were looking for Le-Koro, and we stumbled on you guys. Pala-Koro eh? Never knew someone set up another village around here."
IC: Skrihen"It's the base of operations for the Island Liberation Squad. We took down the Rama Hive."
IC: [Atonal]Atonal thought for a moment. "Oh yeah, you guys. There was a Toa of Fire standing on a tall building in Ta-Koro shouting about the destruction of the Hive and the rescue of the Turaga."
IC: The DetectiveThe Detective entered the slums of Le-Koro. He looked around for anything suspicious, being careful to not look suspicious himself.
IC: Skrihen"Sounds like Ril."
IC: Tank - Ga-WahiTank couldn't really sleep, after a couple minutes he sat back up again, this time leaning against the cave wall behind him. What didn't change however, was his gaze on the fire, now slightly smaller. Kearrstrun reached over and picked up a log, dropping it into the fire, stirring up more fire.Tank took out Arekule's Journal, flipping it open to the candidate pages. He skipped past Utu's and started again on Salvinn's continuing from where he left off in Ko-Wahi.No. 2 - SalvinnThis Vortixx has proven to be extremely hardened. He's agile, fast (For his size), and unlike No. 1, is leading a happy enough life. Mostly. So far, I'm mostly interested in the effect a Mark will have on a Vortixx. He spends much of his time bounding about the jungles of Le-Wahi, exploring, hunting, and enjoying himself. This is odd for a Vortixx. He's a bit of an acrobat too (As far as Vortixx's can go), which I found entertaining to watch. Whenever meeting travelers upon the road he would speak to them. This made it easy to get up close. I spoke to him to find out more about him, apparently, he's lived in Le-Wahi most his life living on what he catches with no real home. He simply sleeps where it looks comfortable.I'll be returning to get later.TestI ran into him again on the road between Le-Koro and Ta-Koro, of course, I'd been going back and forth on it until I found him again. This time I took him by surprise, before taking him away to my lab.I left him in the forest and watched him single-handedly take care of a group of bandits. Maybe because he felt like it, maybe because the Mark on his arm represents Hope. I'm beginning to think the Bearer is attracted to the feeling their Rune represents.No. 3 - LeavitThe first time I saw Leavit was in a bar, almost radiating a desire for attention. He stood up on his table and started singing, stomping on the table. As disrespectful as it was, it was entertaining, and he knew it. After his little jaunt along the tables, he spent the rest of the night eying the women in the room, trying desperately to get any sort of attention from them. After following him home; he was alone, I noticed a couple things about him. He's almost like a lost puppy and really lonely. Something I had sensed apart from his behavior, was he was angry in his lonesomeness. Perhaps because he feels frustrated, that he can't seem to initiate a relationship, let alone take anybody home. His actions while alone were very different from his actions while others are present. In the morning, he got up and punched a bag until it broke his fingers (I think). Afterwards, he took a break to wrap his hands before starting again, obviously too angry to care about the pain. This suggests more about where his anger is originating.I'm curious as to what effect his own emotions would have on his own Mark, if it would do anything at all, or boost the power tenfold. He's a good candidate for an Anger Rune for this reason. But I've since decided against it.Do not testTank tilted his head.
IC: [Jenali]"Island Liberation Squad?" Jenali asked curiously. Then, in a tone of voice usually reserved for those innocent due to ignorance: "Rama hive? They -- were all being controlled by the Makuta, right?"
IC: [Atonal]"Who?"
IC (Weta): "And by my bow" Weta added, completing the team's pledges of honour. He was just as much in awe of Merror as everyone else in the bar: being part of the team didn't make the speech any less majestic and stirring. "Wherever it may take us, we will do our duty to the people of Mata Nui and to the Great Spirit".
IC: PirokPirok tapped Weta on the shoulder. "You forgot to let me in there, mate."Pirok, not having any weapons, was forced to simply hold out his hand. "By my... hand."
IC (Merror)The six weapons crossed above the circular table, an age-old symbol of the unity of a Toa Team."Hope we shall bring, and hope we shall be," said Merror. "We are the Toa Astha."Merror sheathed his sword, and smiled.
IC, Elianne:(Bright-Star Inn)The Toa of Lightning put her spear back behind the strap on her back. Finally. She detested the time she spent out of the monastery until now - the world was dark and full of terrors, and those who should've fought those terrors fled. But now, she had a purpose, and five companions to help her, no less."Toa Astha," she murmured, savoring the words. "A good name for a good team."
IC (Merror)"The Matoran need a symbol of hope," said Merror, "and a Toa's duty is to be what the Matoran need."He chuckled a little."And I thought it had a ring to it."
IC: The MafiaThe Mafia headed for Ko-Wahi. He needed to find the rest of the axes.OOC: Mafia to Ko-wahi
OOC: So...IC: OnuzekThe gigantic Toa watched from the side as Group-Skyra's-Friends said some stuff that Onuzek really didn't understand and said some more stuff while placing their weapons on the table. Okay... So they were having a trade?Still not quite understanding what that was all about, the gigantic Toa turned and stepped out the door of the Inn. Speaking of the Inn, the place seemed familar, but the massive Toa couldn't place it. Before anyone could notice, Onuzek lept into the air, a hovered a few hundred meters above the Koro. Here he could be alone.Alone.
IC: Skyra - Bright-Star Inn, Le-koro -"Toa Astha..." I said slowly as I sheathed my katana, letting the name soak into my mind and memory. It had a nice ring to it, and what it meant...hope...it was the perfect name. I looked at my mark of fear on my right shoulder, it was incredibly ironic how it's very weakness was hope. Feeding my mark to keep my timer from reaching zero was gonna be....difficult.Speaking of my timer, I glanced at my forearm, it was still ticking down, at about four days and twenty-three hours. Great...I looked up at Merror, putting aside those thoughts for the moment. "It does have a nice ring to it. It's the perfect name."
IC (Merror)Merror smiled, then glanced also at Skyra's mark, and the smile faded. He placed a hand on the Toa of Air's shoulder."We will find a way to stop this," he said earnestly. "And we should probably start looking soon. You've got less than five days left."
IC: Skyra - Bright-Star Inn, Le-koro -"We have to find every mark bearer and get them to the temple that in Kini-Nui...I'm not sure if that's possible." I sighed, but then put a grin on my face. "Though, I can add more time, we just have to find some really scared criminals."
IC, Elianne:(Bright-Star Inn)Elianne thought this was a suitable time to interject. "It isn't too much to ask to be brought up to speed on this, is it?"
IC (Merror)"That shouldn't be difficult," he said to Skyra, "but won't that just delay it? And it's addictive, isn't it?"He turned to Elianne."Skyra has a Mark that feeds off fear, and grants him strength in return. There are others with similar Marks, each feeding on a different emotion - but the Marks are also addictive, and can control them if left unfed."
IC: Morik [bright-Star Inn]A lone being sat in a dark corner of the Inn, the darkness concealing him despite his bulk. Morik was listening to the various conversations in the area, not really paying any attention to any of them. He was focused on the row of glowing numbers on his left forearm, partially covered by a piece of armor.Four and a half days. That was it.That was all he had to live, and it really put some things into perspective. He continued on with these thoughts untill two words caught his attention: "Mark Bearer."The Akrainid's head shot up, and focused on the being who said those words... And listened.
IC: Skyra - Bright-Star Inn, Le-koro -"Well, theoretically I could delay it forever, though it really depends on if I can actually feed the mark or not..." I sighed. "Yeah, it's also very addictive." I really didn't want my teammates to worry about me, I figured we should be more concerned about other things. "You don't have to worry about me guys, I'll manage."
IC (Merror)"Skyra, it's all very well to be selfless," Merror replied, "but we need you. I don't want you dying on us..."
IC: Skyra - Bright-Star Inn, Le-koro -I sighed, I could see that trying to argue otherwise was gonna be difficult. "I just don't want this to get in the way of what we're trying to accomplish in this team, you know?"
IC (Merror)"In all seriousness, Skyra," Merror replied, "you dying or becoming addicted to that thing would very much get in the way of what we're trying to accomplish."
IC: Skyra - Bright-Star Inn, Le-koro -I let my head droop a bit, "That's a very good point..." I then took the flagon of ale and drank a bit more of it. "I guess we have to find the other bearers then..."
IC: Plagia Simul - Pala-Koro"Um, how 'bout swimming? This village does, technically, have a beach..."-Void
IC:"Uh, No. I'd sink like a stone in this armor... and I don't want to take my extra armor off, specifically my helmet," Frii'glokk replied.IC: Plagia Simul - Pala-Koro"Um, how 'bout swimming? This village does, technically, have a beach..."-Void
IC: Plagia Simul - Pala-KoroI grunted, showing my frustration at not being able to think of anything, "How about... hrm, if Alfon were here, I'm sure he could think of something..."Now pacing around in the sand, I added, "What about we go over to the main gate? That seems to be where everyone's hanging out..."-Void
IC:"Good Idea". Frii'Glokk folllowed Plagia to the gate of pala-koro.
OOC: Timeskipping the activation and going off the assumption it's been two days.IC: SalvinnDue to the large amount of apathy shown by the bartender, Salvinn had moved towards a further edge of the koro. Honestly due to it being close to the tree line, Salvinn would've preferred it better, if he was a complete wreck right now. A strange occurrence had recently happened to him, where he felt a moment of euphoria, followed immediately by extreme pain caused by him moving because of the high. This in turn had knocked him out, and when he came too a timer was counting down, and something about caused Salvinn to fear it. It was bad, that much he knew. That had been two days ago, the timer was still clocking away, and there seemed to be little hope left for him. The once proud Vortixx had been knocked down so far, it seemed destiny had it out for him. It was as if the world was attempting the last rays of hope the Mark Bearers could provide. The old Salvinn might have felt he was just being tested, that in the end he would come out stronger, but this one was different. This Salvinn was just left in utter fear of the world, the things that had fascinated him before, just caused him terror. Hope was dying in him, something he never thought possible before. These last two days Salvinn had shut himself off from everyone else, well everyone but Sep. He had yet to reach that breaking point, unfortunately Sep was probably feeling quite large doses of depression as well. His role model, his hero, his friend was falling further and further each day. On top of that he appeared to have some sort of death clock now. The once cheerful and upbeat Archer, the one who put a smile on the faces of all those he met, was now in desperate of a smile himself. On the bed of the Inn he was in, Salvinn had spent the days just staring blanking towards the ceiling. While once he had seemed to have been on the path of recovery, now he had just been crushed. A final blow had been dealt, and he left with just fumes. If he escaped this, then he would've experience a low that few ever live the talk about. He would've pulled himself from the brink of despair, and then his Mark started glowing slightly. He hadn't realized it at first, but the Vortixx felt an odd emotion creeping into him now, for it is at the brink of despair that hope glows the brightest. When one is pushed to the brink, when they are just bordering on the end, then they are able to recover. For once must be broken, before he can rise again. Slowly but surely the timer was ticking foward, second by second. It was still insubstantial in relation to truly knocking it up, but it was a start. Then it happened...A miracleHis Mark Flared. So much Hope was being felt in one part of the Koro, that Salvinn could feel it all the way here. It gave strength rivaling the effects of the previous euphoria he had experienced. This time he was healed enough that his initially jerking at the feeling did not fill him with pain. The Time shot foward, the seconds turning to minutes, the minutes to hours, the hours counting up a few days. It just kept on going. Salvinn could feel his mind sharpening as it did so, he could feel memories returning slowly but surely.Flashes of a village. Bandits lying defeated around him. The roar of the villagers cheering him on. The gratitude of those he saved. Rescuing a drowning Matoran from vines. Meeting his friends, Seventh, Cersei, Anavel. Fighting odd being also wearing Marks. The thrills of the Magic Boat. Faces of people he had helped flashed through his mind, and then arrived the most cherished memory of all. He was there, he was in the forest, his arrow flying straight and true towards a Toa of plant life. And then there he was, Septimus, the one being who had always stayed by his side. The one being he could always count on no matter how bad things got. He was there in the field, speaking his thanks on the fact that Salvinn had been here to save them. Sep then bringing him the bird, he may have scoffed at it then, but now he brought him joy. Sep was and always would be, his friend, his hero. The Vortixx's eyes shot open has he looked across towards Septimus, he spoke with a little more confidence, a little more of his former self. "Septimus, mind doing me a favor bro. Stop calling me Sal, it's Salvinn." He said, while cracking his signature, cocky grin. A grin that Sep had not seen in while. The Salvinn collapsed back onto the bed, by the time he awoke he probably wouldn't remember as much, but he would be better far better than he had been. His grin remained as he lay on the bed. Is body may have still been broken, but it possessed a strength that had not been there before. Salvinn was back on the path of recovery, he had been rescued from the brink, Hope had been reignited. And all the while he lay there, his Mark still glowed. Like a candle in the night, Hope was lighting the way. Burning brighter than ever before, as the timer ticked forward.OOC: I'd like to thank the Toa Astha for finally opening a path to save my character.
IC: [septimus]Septimus stared at his friend's sleeping body, and began to cry in joy.Salvinn was back.
IC: Morik [bright-Star Inn]"One down," a voice said in reply to Skyra's comment, "only a Karz of a lot more to go."With that, the large Akrainid stood up, a movement that added quite a bit of height to him, and stepped over to the group of beings. His eyes flashed yellow for a moment and his Mark flared up as he absorbed some of the confidence in the area. He made no move to come closer, and merely waited for their reaction.
IC, Elianne:(Bright-Star Inn)Elianne observed Skyra, Merror, and this newcomer, analyzing what she'd learnt. She'd never heard of such... Marks before - but the way she understood, finding them would be a hard task. She sighed in the direction of Morik."You're a Mark Bearer as well, I'm to understand?"
IC: MadrihkThere was a knock on the door, but no wait for the good doctor to answer before Madrihk walked into Verik's little doctoring hut. Verik himself was currently treating a female Le-Matoran."Ah," the ILS leader exclaimed, "I hope I'm not intruding too much. As you can probably tell we just returned from Ko-Koro, and I heard about the fight that occurred just outside our wall."He turned his head when he spotted the resting Ga-Matoran nearby, and was a bit surprised by her being awake; he had expected her Parakuka to lie dissected on the table after what he had gathered from his team's tale of the events that had transpired."I take it that this is the captured Parakuka-host, at least one of them?" He met Turok's gaze as he spoke, though he was still talking to Verik. "Any news regarding the Turaga?"
