IC: [The Fourth]The Fourth nodded. "Yes. It was extremely difficult dealing with Twenty-Nine's addiction to alcohol."
IC: Dekal (Darksea Inn)"All twenty-nine or Twenty-nine?" he asked, trying to wrap his head around the number-names.
IC: XerovThe nutcase, the one they called Joske, he's moving closer to me. And... he's smirking. Why would he be smirking? From what I can tell, all he's done is steer someone away from him with his attitude... and towards his friend. That's kind of clever, actually. It's only a short distance from where I am to where he is, so I walk over. "You're smarter than you pretend to be."
IC: [The Fourth]"The Twenty-Ninth sister," she clarified. "My parents weren't very original when naming us, so we are all Jaliax the [insert Number Here], except for One, who technically can go by Jaliax if she wants. Thirteen did rename herself Treize though."
IC: Dekal (Darksea Inn)"Ah," he said, starting to understand now. "You ever think about taking another name?"
IC: (The Infernavika)"We've just arrived at the Ga-Wahi forest, Raknar," Perkahn said, tossing the anchor back in the water. "And, well, you were kind o' dumped in the water. Accident. We pulled you out. No harm done."The Toa of Iron went down to the broadside, and turned to the crew. "People!" he roared, hoping that'd get everyone's attention. "The plan's simple. Act natural. Cause a minor degree of havoc, such as when any pirate crew does when they're landing and setting up camp. Cause some racket. Hopefully that'll lure at least someone among the Mark Bearers - provided they're here - out to investigate it. Meanwhile, we'll be prepared, maybe set up an ambush or something. That does not mean we'll just settle down like this, though. Once we've set up camp, we'll go out into the forest. Look for tracks, trash, anything that might lead us to the Bearers and begins with the letter T. Sound simple?"
IC: [The Fourth]"Not really."
IC: Dekal (Darksea Inn)The Toa of Sonics nodded in responce. Okay, awkward silence.Why...?
IC: [The Fourth]"Well, I need to head home now, and make sure that none of my sisters are there crashing the place."
IC: Dekal (Darksea Inn)"That sounds like a good idea," Dekal replied. "Meet you at the docks in...?"
IC: [The Fourth]"An hour maybe?"
IC: Dekal (Darksea Inn)"Alright, see you then."
IC: [The Fourth]The Fourth nodded and left.
OOC: one epic perception check, but after reading your character's bio yeah I'll let it slide; makes sense, he is very intelligent
IC"You're smarter than you pretend to be."THOCKI stood still, my left hand extended, just having caught the rock on the fly. It's position and clear trajectory would have landed it in an awkward spot for this guy, just below the belt. I tsked lightly."First off, never interrupt someone who has objects moving around him at high velocities; he might not be good enough to stop them from having undesirable results. And second... "By this time I had turned my head back to get a good look at this guy, flashing my trademarked cheeky grin. A dark blue Matoran, bright blue eyes, wearing a light-grey jacket with a hood, complete with dark grey trousers. Very low-profile, pretty average-looking, and nothing exceptional in any way. Or in other words not physically impressive and not terribly good-looking either. Possibly looked like one of those geeks that Wiremu actually got along with at times. Or at least this single statement gave evidence to it, calling me out on my game. Then again, this was my game."Second... I have no idea what you're talking about." Keeping that grin I spun the rock with my free hand, allowing it to spin and balance on a single finger. I shrugged and focused on what I was doing, my face going from cheeky to sly as I spoke out of the corner of my mouth. "So, what, you're her boyfriend of something?"I moved my hand slightly to keep the spinning rock balanced.
IC: [Vaisaga]Meanwhile, the incredibly girly looking Toa of Air was wondering what was going on.
IC: The tide came in gradually on the beach near Ga-Koro, as tides usually do. And, as tides usually do, it gradually receded. This recession, however, left behind on the shore something most unusual - the still form of a Toa, clad in red and black armor, unmoving and yet very much alive. Closer inspection of the being would have revealed a feature far more distinguishing than the color of his armor, however - carved into his right shoulder was a symbol, a sort of diamond shape intersecting another. Whether the observer would recognize the marking for what it was would be anyone's guess, but then, there was no one around to see the Toa himself, let alone the symbol. And so, the Toa lay, lost to the world. But not for long, of course.
OOC: I'll try to be more careful about stuff like that in future.
Also, you might've made a mix-up when looking at my profiles. This is the bottom one. Xerov's a dark blue Matoran, you just described Vorex (it's pretty understandable since it's the same name backwards, though. And since they both have the intelligence thing listed in their profiles, that still works).IC: Xerov"I don't know her. But I listened to the conversation. I noticed you smirking because someone who had been talking to you had just turned away and started talking to someone else. Also, immediately after that you walked away from both of them. I could almost imagine that it was that you were just happy to be rid of her, but you kept an eye on the conversation afterwards, and you wouldn't do that unless you had a reason, and if it was because you liked or wanted to talk to that Toa you wouldn't have been quite so offensive when speaking to her. Overall, it seems to suggest that your, to put it in layman's terms, 'being a prick' was to get her talking to that Onu-Matoran." I nod in his direction. "I've spent a lot of time standing just outside of groups, and watching how people interact. Some people just try to be friendly, but others have a specific goal in mind, and manipulate others to reach it. And that was some pretty impressive manipulation."That's the most I've talked in a long, long time, although I'm still speaking unusually quietly. There's also the possibility that I'm over-analysing. Last time I over-analysed behaviour, a Ga-Matoran slapped me. I doubt that Joske will, though. He'll probably just hit me with that rock. More painful, true, but it would be more a physical blow than one to my self-esteem and reputation.
OOC:
What the... oops. I will sure to back and edit. Sorry 'bout that. What also doesn't help is that those bottom several have coding errors making them all look the same, so we can see ALL of it... you might want to go in there and edit them. Thanks though.ICAs he talked the rock in my hand slowed down, beginning to wobble as the centrifugal force on it weakened. As he finished it tipped over, and I gently if not deftly caught it. My eyes slowly eyed him at a side glance, my face still pointed at the rock in my hand. I still had that grin, but it was different. "Well, aren't you perceptive." I commented quietly, lifting my hand and letting to stone roll down my arm, across my shoulders and back, down the other arm and into the awaiting free hand. I looked up at this matoran. A withdrawn outsider, much like Wiremu, but at the same time not like him for completely different reasons. The observational, wanting-in outsider, not the withdrawn, shy type. I tilted my head. "Ok, bonus question: what else can your sixth sense tell you? You have my full and undivided attention." I hadn't met anyone who could slice through a facade that quickly and easily before. I was curious if this kid has some sort of observational power or if he was just that kind of guy.
OOC: I know, it keeps doing that to me, I've had to change it all to black but I keep forgetting. I think the post is too long for BZP to handle or somethin', because it keeps doing that every time I add a new profile unless it's in plain black text.IC: XerovOh, so I'm not over-analysing. That's nice."It's not really a sixth sense, I've just spent a lot of time as an outsider, watching how people interact. You watch someone for long enough, you get to know them. You watch society for long enough, you start to figure out how people think. You figure out how people think..." And society decides you're some kind of freak, and that the only way to stop the abnormality spreading to them too is to either shun you or try to beat it out of you. "I sometimes try to figure out people's careers, when I'm bored, by watching how they act. For instance, I decided a few moments ago that you were involved in sports."
ICI could not help but laughing out loud. "Just now decided? Hate to say that's the first thing people figure out, not the other way around as you just did." Dropping the rock in the sand I pulled out my Kohlii stick, lining up a shot. With a swift, decisive swing I hit the ball, causing it to skyrocket forward and ricochet off the bounder back at me. As this happened I carried through with the momentum to spin up and around to face the opposite direction, watching as the rock grazed past me in slow motion. It passed me... and that's when my swing caught up with my body, hitting it in the now opposite direction. I stood there and watched the rock soar out into the bay, my stick hanging loosely over my shoulders. It took several second for it to silently splash at the edge of our vision. I nodded with approval. "Also, people tend to recognize me on sight, so that helps them figure out what I do for a living. I am amazed I still meet people who don't know who I am... well, matoran at least. The others I wouldn't expect it as much."OOC: imagine a golf shot, spinning around, then making a connecting baseball swing but with the pitcher having thrown from behind you.
IC: Fives (Beach, Ga-Koro)Fives stopped by a palm tree on the beach and adjusted his winter cap before plucking a Kolhii ball out of his bag and swinging his bat through the air. A resounding CRACK! echoed through the Ga-Wahi sky as the ball made contact with the tree and came bouncing back at him.CRACK!Bat hit ball once again, and so began the vicious cycle to see who would stop hitting the ball first before it touched the ground. Right now, the odds were not in the palm tree's favor.-Teezy
IC: XerovI am honestly pretty impressed. And I don't even like sport-stuff all that much. But that wasn't just sport, that was skill. This guy is pretty skilled. "I don't really keep up with Kolhii. I know the basics, but I don't know players, or... much at all, really. I couldn't tell you who won a match if I watched it the whole way through."
IC-Praggos:As Praggos walked about Ga-Koro, he noticed a momentary feeling in his shoulder, almost as though he had been pricked by a hypodermic needle. He shrugged, thinking it a simple mosquito, when his mark flared through his clothing. He stumbled slightly, his thoughts flying into overdrive, running through mental calculations, trying to figure out just what this was, but he always came to the same conclusion-the time was coming. He stumbled again, a few of the Ga-Matoran about looking at him oddly. His vision was tunneling, he could only see ahead of him, towards the hospital.Soon enough, his vision went black entirely, his brain losing all control of his limbs as they relaxed, sending him falling to the ground.Minutes, hours...even days later, it didn't make much difference to him-Praggos awoke. He was lying in a clean bed, white sheets covering his body, various Ga-Matoran and a Toa of Water here and there bustling about. The hospital, of course. He looked down to his arm, near his mark, to see just what was happening. And there it was, glowing the same maroon colour as his mark had:00:00:00:07:00:00:00...00:00:00:06:23:59:59...00:00:00:06:23:59:58...Not good. Not in the least.
IC: Cirya (Ta/Ga Road)The Toa of Crystal nodded, and followed the Matoran onto the bridge. It didn't seem 100% safe, but then again, Cirya had walked over this bridge many times... She just hoped it wasn't too many.IC: HakilveThe Toa of Stone nodded, and took a step forward, clearing the distance between him. The lily pad shifted with the change in weight. Hakilve made the first move, a slightly slow diangle slash downwards.
ICI took a few steps back in the sand, admiring my work. "That's... unfortunate. It’s a good sport to watch." I wanted to say disappointed, but I for once I held my tongue. It's one thing not know players or rules, but how could someone watch a whole match and not know who won? Was that even possible!? "So you don't watch sports. Sad, but not terrible. Do you have any other hobbies? Besides stalking and profiling the general populous of course." I grinned mischievously.
IC Lara and Cirya continued across the huge bridge. Lara had a hard time keeping her balance with her huge backpack, and with every step the boards creaked. But both travelers were used to this sort of thing, and the seeming instability of the bridge didn't worry them.As they walked, he air quickly grew warmer. It was the dry, intense heat of Ta-Koro, given off by the liquid rock that flowed in streams down the now very close terrain."So, Cirya, are you-" Lara's question was cut off as the board beneath her foot snapped, the two peices spinning down into the mist below. Her hands quickly sped out to either side, holding fast to the rope handholds as her feet dangled into abyss. "I've got it," she reassured her companion, moving her other foot to the plank in front of her. The ga matoran heaved herself the to the next plank, and smiled weakly at Cirya.Lara's heart rate was slowing, but it was still beating audibly in her ears. She took a few deep breaths. That was quite frightening, and meant this bridge was getting old. "I'm okay," Lara said shakily, before continuing on.
IC: Cirya"Oh-!" the Toa of Crystal said suddenly as the boards beneath the Ga-Matoran snapped. "Okay, that was close."This bridge was definately in need of repair, and Cirya was surprised that she didn't notice until her friend neatly fell through. After that, the Toa was noticable more careful with her steps, and was prepared to grab Lara if it happened again.
ICLara smiled at Cirya. "Thank you," she said. "I should watch my step a bit better." Wether she wanted to or not, the ga matoran's instincts were kicking in, and every step was slow and careful. Fortunately most of the other planks were in better condition, and Lara made it to the other side of the bridge. She turned to see if Cirya crossed successfully too.OOCLara (and Cirya?) to Ta-Koro. I think we should make anymore bridge posts over there. :-P it's weird to have all the action between Wahi.
OOC: Yeah.IC: CiryaThe Toa of Crystal followed closely behind, careful to watch her step. Thankfully, the other parts of the bridge seemed in better shape then the one that broke.OOC: Cirya to Ta.
IC:Kehua nodded slowly. "That does sound like a good choice." The large Toa clapped his thighs and got up. He emptied his glass and put it back on the table, leaving widgets and a comparatively generous tip for the nice waitress, before following Kaimaen out of the bar and into Ga-Wahi's floating streets."How long do you suppose it will take us to get to the village of stone?" he asked.IC-Kaimaen:"Po-Koro is a good choice," Kaimaen said, interrupting Kehua's thoughts. He then stood up, having already finished what he had for a meal."Come."
IC-Praggos:"Ah, good, you're awake," the Ga-Toa doctor said, walking in. However, she stepped a little too close to Praggos-the Toa of Ice grabbed her, dragging her in close to him with strength greater than what he looked like he would posess."Are there any others in here?" He growled out, gesturing to his arm, which was already counting down, already having lost a few minutes. "Any others with marks like mine?" The Nurse nodded, gesturing to a room just a little farther down the hall. Praggos tossed her back, getting up and shaking himself, before walking out of the room, leaving the frightened nurse back in the room.He stumbled down the hall, unsure as to what seemed to be happening-however, he would run a little test. Doubtless, there wasn't a single mark bearer who knew exactly what this would be. But, judging from what happened whenever a feeling of contempt passed his way, reversing the timer by a second or so each time, he figured there must be a way to regain time.Or to take it.As he walked, he noticed a bright glow coming from one room, farther in the back of it-something that obviously didn't come from a light source such as fire, or electricity. Within, there appeared to be two, or maybe three beings-a potential mark bearer, one who seemed to be a Toa near that bearer, and then another Toa, nearer to him. He stumbled over to the Toa, catching that one's attention."Tell me-who is the being back there?" He rasped out, his voice haggard. "The glowing one. Tell me."
IC: [Lux Saran](Training Grounds, Lily-Pad, Ga-Koro)Lux, unaccustomed to the sudden shift in gravity, was forced to change his position slightly to centre himself. Unfortunately, that cost him precious seconds he needed to block Hakilve's strike. Rather than managing to stop the slash fully, the Matoran only diverted the sword away, unintentionally sending himself stumbling backwards. Not bothering with any sort of banter, Lux returned, taking several quick steps forward, before bringing his sword around in a horizontal arc, aiming for the Toa's exposed left side.-Void
OOC: I think I died reading your sig.
IC: HakilveThe Toa of Stone, not naturally built for speed, just managed to bring his sword around to block the swing. "Good," the Toa of Stone said, "Look for openings, anylize your opponent's fighting style."Hakilve suddenly shifted his left foot back, and stepped forward with his right while coming in a vertical slash upward.
IC: ValjaValja had been walking through Ga-koro for quite some time. There had been finally someone who had been kind enough to give her a few pointers on what to do in Ga-Koro. She walked into a tavern, bought a drink, and waited. It had been a technique that she had taught one of of her old villagers, a Ko-Matoran name Psyzhran. Where was Psyzhran now? She didn't know. She sipped her drink, waited, and listened...OOC: open for interaction
IC: XerovHe's messing with me. I don't care. I'm making progress. Last time I tried to say I didn't like Kolhii, I didn't wake up for days. I didn't know that the guy meant it seriously when he said he'd 'kick [me] into next week'. "I write a bit. I also draw, but not half as much -- I have a little talent, but nowhere near enough to even consider trying to make a living."
IC"Soooooo... any skills at all? Anything besides, well, standing there and people-watching? Everyone is good at something useful. I mean, you do... don't you?"There had to be SOMETHING interesting and non-depreciating about this guy.
IC: Fives (Ga-Wahi)"Yeaaaah, buddy!"Fives cheered and whooped in glee as he snapped up the ball from the ground at the palm tree, tossing it up and down as he kicked the back of the tree; twenty minutes of his life had gone by, true, but he had thwacked and pummeled the tree, which had been duplicitous in its power and athletic ability. He bowed to the worthy opponent and then cheered again, running and bouncing every now and then down the Wahi.-Teezy
IC: XerovI shrug. "Not much, really. I make a bit of money by doing jobs for people here and there. I've tried my hand at nearly everything -- fishing, building, mining, the list goes on and on, but the only things I seem to be good at are writing and figuring out what's going on in other people's heads, and only the first gets any approval, although very few people see the need for reading when we're at war. So I just sit around, being useless, watching the world go by. Because I am useless, anyone could see that, and the few people who don't realise it soon enough."Yeah, go down the route of the self-hatred speech, that's sure to win you social respect. Do you see normal people going around making self-hatred speeches? Funnily enough, they don't. Even the ones who you can tell hate themselves. BECAUSE EVEN THEY KNOW HOW TO SOCIALISE WITHOUT COMING OFF AS A FREAK.
IC: ValjaThe turaga of lightning had finished her meal. There was nothing worth listening to here, so she decided to go explore the wahi. She passed by a matoran holding a baseball bat, she passed by two beings having an intense discussion, she saw many things, but the weirdest thing she saw was a rahi beast who pushed her over a cliff. Fortunately, it was a small one, but she still blacked out. When she came to, she was in what appeared to be a doctor's office. "You're the first normal patient I've had in a while," she said. "What do you mean by normal?" asked the Turaga. "Many of my patients recently have had strange marks in the form of timers on their bodies," said the nurse. "Really?" asked Valja. "Yes, really," said the nurse. "See for yourself."Valja left the doctor's chambers and entered the hall. Sure enough, there were many patients with strange marks on their arms. Then something caught her eye. There was a glow at the back of the room. This would warrant investigation.
IC-Praggos:As Praggos attempted to converse with Reik, an old Turaga walked into the room. He turned to look at her, then blew her off with a wave of his hand."Leave, old woman. This does not concern you."
