IC: Jodohnn
Hmm... This seemed interesting. I've never used my rocket jumper for anything like this, but hey- there's a first time for everything.
"Alright, what are the rules? I'm guessing you've got some way to catch up with me."
IC: Ravyn
Ravyn did not appreciate getting called cute. He puffed himself up in defiance, trying to look bigger and more menacing.
IC: Revenant
I flinch. "Might not be the best to call him adorable... He likes being imposing and something to be feared."
IC: Slif - Gym
"Neither of us get to use any weapons or tools, except for your booster pack there. We both get to use our surroundings to our advantage. If I manage to grab you, then I win. If I cave and get too tired then you win."
I stuck out my open hand.
"Game starts five seconds after you agree."
IC: Jodohnn
No weapons, hm? Well, besides my shovel the only things I can use as a weapon are my fists... which he can grab. Unless he's got telekinesis, I could avoid him in my sleep!
"Alright then. Sounds like fun."
I shake.
IC: Slif - Gym
I grinned the grinniest grin that ever did grin. With a good shake, I let him go.
"I could have just held on to you like that until the five seconds were up, but that felt too easy. Be careful who you shake hands with in the future."
I shrugged, and cocked my head.
"Better get going! Five, four..."
IC: Tear - Hallways
Tear forced himself to maintain the grin as he beckoned down the hall. "Alright, this way to the Library," he called.
And away from those crazy students.
He started walking inside, hoping Revenant and Malattia would catch up soon and he could be done with the tour. This wasn't at all what he had in mind.
IC: Jodohnn
Ha, like he'll ever get me. I start running and rocket jump as far away as I can from him. Once he gets to one, it really begins.
IC: Slif - Gym
"One... okay, here we go."
I'd seen all the fighters in here taking advantage of the gym around them, not just predicting what it would make but literally creating it themselves. From what I saw, I guessed all I had to do was think...
I felt myself shoot upwards as a column rose into the air under my feet. I came just a bio shy of the ceiling. Next, a ramp rose up to begin at my feet, dipping into a newly made depression in the floor and ending in a ramp facing opposite of me. I grabbed a hold of my legs, and compacted just enough to form a great disc shape.
"This'll be fun."
I pushed off with one hand and went spinning down the ramp. I felt my speed gaining still, this was awesome! No wonder that crazy boost pack guy loved jumping around everywhere. I could barely see at this point, but I felt it when my body took a sharp turn back up and then there was nothing beneath me. I could just make him out, still headed straight forwards, and I was gaining on him.
IC: Sim - Infirmary
After taking the time to figure out directions with Teeth, we finally got to the infirmary without incident. There were injured rahkshi practically littering the place. It was a wonder to me that they even had an infirmary, seeing as we were a widget a dozen to the makuta.
"Palma right?" I ask Teeth. He nods at me.
"Nurse Palma??" I call out.
I see a Rahkshi going back and forth between the rahk on the beds. It was hard to think an original breed would ever be capable of what she was doing, even if they were shadow kraata.
IC: Jodohnn
Wait, did he just change the shape of the room? Whaaaaaaat? Well, that makes this a bit more... challenging. But I like challenges, and you only live once so ya gotta take every opportunity. And this new revelation will certainly allow me to practice more. And th- oh karz he's gaining on me. I'll just rocket jump outta the way, but since he's probably expecting me to go over him or do a wall jump... I'm gonna jump to the *BOOM* left.
IC: Vyper - Gym Ceiling.
The challenger's use of the gym was creative, but the rebounding rahk still had the advantage. Even so, I had a feeling these antics were going to end with one of both of them winding up in a mangled heap on the floor...
IC Percy:
He swung the staff end forward, vaguely recognizing that pain was pressing into his fingers.
IC: Pyre - Gym
As Pyre had already begun leaping back by the first attack, the staff flew by his chest. Once again Pyre inched backwards, waiting to tire Percy out in his fit of rage. Pyre had been at the gym for a while. The rock was sentient, and unless it died when disconnected, it had to be eating Percy's hand.
IC: Radriarch - Halls
On his way to the infirmary, he passed by a dorm reeking of rotten flesh. (Edge's dorm)
"Anybody else smell a dead body?
IC: Edge - Dorm
Edge wrapped up taking the blood vials. He severed all the limbs and stuffed it with his matoran parts.
IC Percy:
Said pain was becoming quite sharp, and had Percy bothered to pay any attention, he might have noticed the stone of the staff was quickly becoming less staff like as it started digging into his hand. However, Percy was simply too filled with determination to notice.
That is until he made to swing the Improvised spear over his shoulders as he stepped closer to Pyre.
His hand was unable to let go of the staff, causing him to rather clumsily knock himself in the side of the head.
IC Kavinav:
Landing on the last pillar of the Causeway, the Adaptarahk stumbled momentarily before stopping and jumping the last bit. Still carrying his toolbox, Kavinav walked into teh school and decided that his first order of business was to find a dorm for himself.
IC: Revenant
"Come along, Ravyn!" I call as I turn around to follow Tear. Ravyn lets out an angry caw in Squid's ears, before taking off, and landing on my shoulder.
IC: Malattia
I follow Tear, and glance behind my shoulder, making sure we were out of earshot, before I mutter, "Some peace group. Can't stop arguing for a second."
IC: Spezia
"Right. Let's keep on searching."
IC: Jayar / Airship
Jayar shrugged. "There's not a lot in my past," he admitted. "Just some training, some learning... No trials. No tragedy."
Those last words were tinged with guilt, a longstanding irrational guilt that it was not fair that fate had been kind to young Jayar, but cruel to the likes of young Fang, young Era. Young Hoto. As if this could be his fault - knowing it could not be, but somehow feeling otherwise - he had always tried to compensate with kindness and nobility. It never felt enough.
* * *
IC: Thurisaz / Gym
"Thank you, my friend, but this would be my task," Thurisaz told Tube, looking to Draco and Sliver again for confirmation.
IC: Hoto - Airship
"Oh... okay," Hoto replied, just so she had something to say. After all the stories she had heard and the lives she had lived through Kaita, she almost thought it was impossible to have a... peaceful life as a Rahkshi. Most of the universe hated or feared you, the Makuta were ambivalent at best, abusive at worst, or just controlling, and the other Rahkshi weren't afraid of crawling over each other to get to the top.
Part of her felt almost... jealous, but she couldn't envy anyone, Jayar especially, for living an easy life. She had learned a lot through her struggles.
And so she said nothing else, waiting in the tense silence for the words that neither wanted to say first.
IC: Tube - Gym
"Oh," Tube sighed. "Alright. Go ahead, Master! I'm sure you'll win!"
They obediently stepped back behind Thurstaz, waiting for the battle to begin.
IC: Tear - Library
"What do you expect from a 'peaceful group' at Corpus Rahkshi?" Tear scoffed. "They were probably luring weaklings into their trap, or putting up a facade to put their enemies at ease."
The group soon reached the grand doors at the end of the hall. "Welcome to the Library," Tear said with the appropriate gesture, but this time it wasn't as enthusiastic. He really didn't have much to say about this place; Mother hadn't mentioned it much. "It's... ah... lots of books on... well, just about everything... Oh! Including combat and killing and warfare, preparing the Rahkshi for the day they rise or fall."
IC: Canvas - Hallways
Canvas watched the potential recruits walk off into the Library, giving them a kind and inviting smile all the way. But the moment they fell out of sight, her grin dropped and she wheeled on "Arms." "Look what you did!" she accused. "We can't even get any new members with you around!"
IC: Melody - Hallways
"C-C-Canvas, p-please..." Melody winced. "N-no more shouting."
IC: Draco
I shrug. "Fair enough. Guess I'll have to wait for my turn, then." Disappointing, but I understood his reasoning. If he managed to beat me(though I doubt he could), then I would embarrass myself again, and his ego would only grow, and I could lose my authority. The risk was high.
IC: Jayar / Airship
The time had come, hadn't it.
He drew a breath, and said, "While we're apart... I'll miss you."
IC: Sliver - Gym.
Well, that was disappointing. I'd been looking forward to seeing Draco get disassembled. Maybe next time... I stepped aside, gesturing for Ezec and Thurisaz to get it over with. The sooner we dealt with this situation, the sooner I could move on to my true goal...
IC: Thurisaz / Gym
Grand! Now as long as Ezec didn't kill him (and Thurisaz knew himself, and suspected the prefects, more than capable of averting such a fate), this situation could only end advantageously. If he won, he looked a hero and had bested Ezec; if he lost, he was still a hero who had fought valiantly for justice, and either way, the Prefects could look like cowards eager to pass their dirty work job along to a willing civilian.
Of course, his noble countenance betrayed only a firm and righteous drive for justice as the vermillion challenger drew his trident in a graceful arc over his head as he stepped forward, stance firm and ready with serene determined fire in his carmine eyes.
IC: Slif - Gym
'Did he just...? Yeah, he did. Okay then...'
I thought up a half pipe track to guide me in his direction. For added kick, a section burst from the floor to give me a good pick-me-up for speed.
IC: Jodohnn
Just as I suspected... In that case, I'll just go behind him. While he could jump off the ramps, he has much less control in the air than I do.
IC Xi
"Oh yeah, blame me again!" Xi snapped. "Are you sure it's not your irritability?"
He tried his best to keep quieter, though.
IC: Slif - Gym
Aw nuts. This was gonna be harder than I thought, I can't keep up with him in the air, and I can't bring him down....
But could I bring myself up?
I thought up another half-pipe to throw me backwards, but when I hit the ground I unraveled and started pounding away on foot. The floor lifted up to be a raised walkway, and just for good measure, I let it go ahead and be a moving sidewalk wanna-be.
"Comin' for ya rocket boy!!"
IC: Hoto - Airship
Hoto's eyes threatened to well up with tears again. Already? No, not yet!
"I... I'll miss you t-too," Hoto choked out.
IC: Melody - Hallways
"J-just stop fighting!" Melody screamed. She eyed the two, hoping those words would sink in. Verbal battles were little better than physical ones.
IC: Canvas - Hallways
Canvas fell silent, simmering in her anger rather than raging out loud. If Melody wasn't here, that loudmouth would be...
...dead? Where did that thought come from?
The question jerked her out of her anger, leaving her confused and a little frightened. "I... I've gotta go..." she stammered, wandering backwards down the hall.
IC Xi
The shout from Melody started Xi more than anything else. As his heart rate rocketed, he kinda fazed out until Canvas had backed nearly out of sight.
When she had, he stood there facing the hallway, with a quizzical and shocked expression, not saying a word.
IC: Pyre - Gym
Pyre used the blade/ handle of one his scythes to block the swing and immediately attempted to slash at Percy's chest.
IC: Jodohnn
Without even having to think too much on what to do, I blasted off the ceiling to the ground and skimmed around his ramp.
OOC: I am going backpacking until about 1 pm Eastern Time on Sunday, so I'm not gonna be on.
IC: Melody - Hallways
"N-no, C-Canvas, come b-back!" Melody tried to step forward and grab her, but it was too late. They could work things out. They could fix this...
Melody dropped her head and sighed. Everything is falling apart.
IC: Canvas - Hallways to Cauldron
Canvas turned around and ran through the halls, out the doors, and then leapt into flight over the Causeway. She wasn't entirely sure where she was running to until the cool waterfall crashed around her shoulders. The Cauldron. The place she'd usually run when a disguise didn't turn out right, but she'd never had something like this.
She glanced down at a puddle near her feet, taking in the golden hues of her armor, the streak of blue and silver down the spines. She had chosen this look simply for convenience; no one would look twice at someone they thought they recognized, especially if the original was missing. But it came with a personality she wasn't sure she liked, one she had seamlessly slipped into almost without thinking.
Her mind ran through every time she had seen this paint. It was usually in the Gym, or watching her lock herself away in her room. She was an artist, that much was sure, but she was also a fighter. She fought to win, whatever the consequences. But would she actually kill someone?
Canvas didn't want to find out. She needed a new look, one that emphasized peace and kindness, one that would be unlikely to cause problems...
...she knew just the one. Canvas ran to the back of the Cauldron where she stored her stash of parts. Her Heat Resistance spines came out, and she dug around for her next variation. As her armor began to fade in the darkness, she realized something.
She had seen that gold Rahk before. No, not here, but before Corpus Rahkshi. Back home, always at mom's side.
IC Frog
That incredibly obnoxious tone
Frog stood slowly, eyeing where he assumed the combatants were. That ringing wasn't going to stop for, oh, a millenia or so.
He hobbled quietly out of the Gym, hissing softly as he came past Hollow, who ignored him entirely.
OOC: Frog open for interaction.
IC--Sepulchral--Halls
"Well, that was...inauspicious." He was speaking mostly to "Arms", as Canvas wasn't present, but he wanted everyone to hear what he said. He did his utmost to keep his voice firm but gentle as he continued. "Perhaps we should focus more on our group as it is before we start pursuing new members. We cannot represent anything, let alone pacifism, if we are forever squabbling among ourselves."
IC--Magnum Opus--Halls/Refectory
Magnum Opus felt a small tingle of dismay as he approached the refectory--the smell of the place was not promising. Cooking was an art, albeit not as magnificent a medium as his, and art should be refined and taken pride in. Whoever was responsible for whatever they were serving here clearly thought otherwise. Still, he sighed to himself as he stepped through the doors and joined the straggling line of students, he had to eat something.
IC--Footwork--Refectory/Halls
Footwork peered into the refectory, but didn't see Snap anywhere. He stepped into the doorway, intending to look more closely before moving on, but then abruptly darted back out into the hall. There was no mistaking the Rahkshi at the end of the queue--the ridiculous coat, the eye-catching colors, the stupid stuck-up attitude. He had been spawned just before Footwork had left home, and his willingness to appease their mother had only cemented the Makuta's low opinion of her firstspawned.
His wonderful little brother had come to Corpus Rahkshi. Footwork shuddered; there was one student he'd be doing his best to avoid, if only out of annoyance. He strode swiftly down the hall, wondering where else in this Karzing place his friend might be.
IC: Jayar / Airship
What words now?
Jayar had to reach out, enveloping her in a hug.
IC: Shield
Shield's head fell. "...yes. Yes I could."
IC: Snake - Airship
"And..." I'm struggling with my words again. They build up like water behind a dam, and similarly eventually come rushing out: "I just want to say I'm sorry...if...look, I know you saw into my head, all my hate and fear and anger and...I just...I'm sorry for what I was, and I've changed..." I pause. "I just...hope that can't get in the way of us being..." The word 'friends' sounds so childish to me in this situation that I don't say it, but I hope Shield can understand. I'd almost forgotten that I'd seen inside his mind too...maybe the fact that he knows I know him almost as well as he knows himself will...help. But then again, it was hardly a relaxed, easy experience for either of our mentalities, which might not cast my psyche in that moment in the best light...
IC: Malady (Gym)
Leaving the sword stuck into what must be his Kraata, I grimace slightly as the elbow hits my side, knocking the air out of me for a second. I reach into the gap next to my falchion as I gasp air back into my lungs, intending to drag him out of his suit.
IC: Nymph (Nynrah)
Dead of night, and my eyes open.
My bright, blue eyes, staring out into the darkness from where I lie, Fior's gentle, regular breathing a comfort behind me.
The noises of the night, some hostile, some almost- almost- peaceful, reach my anxious ears; the chirruping of insects; the faint crackle of dead leaves under the feet of Rahi.
I am at peace.
OOC: Mu is still OFI in the halls.
IC: Hoto - Airship
Hoto hugged him back, grateful for the chance to hide her teary eyes. "Come back safe," she whispered.
IC: Melody - Hallways
Melody nodded, looking off down the hall Canvas had disappeared into. "I d-don't know w-where to s-start," she sighed. "Everything seemed j-just f-fine when w-we started the g-group."
IC: Illusive - Refectory.
Growing tired of wandering the halls, I returned to the refectory and sat down with a tray of slop. I didn't like the stuff, no one really did, but it served its purpose.
________________________________________________________________
IC: Sugil - Hallways.
I ventured deeper into the stony interior, wondering where the other rahks even were. This school was supposed to be full of them, yet thus far I'd encountered none.
IC Xi
"I really hope Hollow doesn't come back" Xi said quietly, mostly to himself.
He felt kind of fractured; unsure for the first time.
IC: Slif - Gym
How am I supposed to keep up with this guy??
I stop running, and sit to watch him keep moving.
"There has to be something I can do here... oh wait. Duh."
I hopped up and clamped my legs together. I hadn't flown in a while, but I could still maneuver well. I hope.
The ground returned to normal beneath me as I became comfortable floating where I was. I started pursuing him, though he was obviously much faster than me, his booster couldn't turn nearly as swiftly as I could.
IC: Revenant
"Oh. Perfect. Ah... If you'll excuse me..." I walk away from the group, to browse the shelves.
IC: Malattia
"Wow. You aren't getting through to him at all." I say, surprised. Either Tare had lost his edge, or this Rahkshi had seen stuff.
IC: Fíor - Forest, Nynrah
"What should we...do?" My voice is a murmur in this half-awake world.
