  • IC: Dayeth.

    Well... That was unexpected.

"Very well," a cold smile flitted across Dayeth's face. "I hope we meet again someday, Maru." That was the truth. The Toa intrigued her. She wanted to understand him - how he thought and felt, what it had been like to encounter Makuta in the flesh - before she watched him burn.

"Until then... farewell," she waved goodbye with her mutated hand as she sauntered away. She half-expected to be attacked from behind while her back was turned, but she suspected that the Toa was too honourable for that.

When she made it safely out onto the next street, near the destroyed section of wall, she knew she'd been right.

"WHAT?!" she burst out, gaping at Korero in shock. She shut her jaw with an audible 'click' and made a few indiscernible sounds as she fumbled for words. "No disrespect, Toa Maru, but... what??? She's a violent, murderous, vengeful follower of Makuta, who came here to inflict pain and death! We can't just let her go scot-free!"

    "We need to find others..."

  • IC (Korero)

Korero turned to the Toa of Crystal.

"Yes, she is," he said. "And there's dozens more like her, right now, all over Ko-Koro. They've got an army, and if I'm right, they've also got advantages we've never seen before."

    He stepped closer to Kimala.

"Matoran throwing fireballs? Vortixx with fragmentation powers? That can't be natural. There's something big going on, and she's just the tip of the iceberg."

He looked for a moment over his shoulder at the way the Matoran had fled.

"But I've got what I wanted from her: information. Now what would you prefer, that I try to bring down one rogue Matoran, one small problem, or that I evacuate as many people as I can and then get to work fixing the big problem?"

  • IC: Veteran.

"Until our boss gets back, them two are in charge." he pointed our Forger and Enforcer. "I been getting the impression that the big guy already doesn't like you."

    IC: Marauder

"Really? Aw, and I thought we could be best buddies." Marauder pulled a mock frown, then smiled wildly again. "In that case, can I get that strong drink now? Information always flows better over alcohol."

    IC: Transient

The Toa of Earth looked up at Obsidian, pulling his cloak closer as the icy wind slashed at his face. His clawed feet were numbing quickly, and his hands quivered with excitement.

Sure, he had been to the fortress of the Outsiders before - after all, he was a "member" - but apparently, some renovations had been done to it since his last visit. It was larger, and more menacing then it had used to be. Was that a catapult...?

Either way, his adrenaline was pumping full time as the group approached the tall, metallic structure. He didn't know why, but it felt like home - even more so than Chronicler's Post had.

Shoving the butt of his weapon into the snow to keep from slipping, Transient came up beside Zero. His hood fluttered about his frost-covered Matatu.

"So... I feel we need to talk. About my debt."

  • IC: Dayeth.

"Well, I had an delightful conversation with Toa Korero Maru."Dayeth said smugly. "He wanted to know how we'd gained our powers, and when I told him, he let me go free. He was so in awe of the gifts Makuta had bestowed upon me that he couldn't find it in his heart to strike me."

    IC: Enforcer.

"No drinks." I snarl. "Now shut up before I decide to make you swallow your own teeth."

    IC: Veteran

"Don't go killin' anyone when we still got..." he trailed off, spotting figures out in the snow through the open door of the fortress. "Zero's back, mates!"

I follow Veteran's gaze, he is correct. Zero is leading three newcomers. I'm glad to see her back again, but my excitement is tempered by worry. "Krayzikk, Kellin and half a dozen refugees are still here... Not to mention whoever bloody else is wondering around these parts..."

  • IC: Ayar (Obsidian Outpost)

    Part 2, Book 2, Chapter 3

Ayar was woken by a knock on her door. She created a hole in the metal to see who was knocking, and was met by the sight of Veneras and Rekhyt peering in.

"I'll be there in a second!" she shouted, resealing the hole in her door and quickly covering the etching of a Rahkshi on her wall with a sheet of protodermis. The Makuta-Worshipper shot over to the door and flung it open.

    "Whaddaya need?"

  • IC: (Rekhyt)

"It's fine..." the Fa-Toa said, although it obviously wasn't. He was too tired to have noticed the icon of Makuta on the wall.

The shout of "Zero's back!" came from Veteran some way behind him...so, he would finally get to meet the leader of the organization, and then perhaps do whatever tests needed to be completed for his acceptence into the it, if the Ko battle hadn't been enough...

    IC: (Mortem)

I am surprised at Dayeth's words...the Maru would surely destroy his enemy, would he not? But then again, the toa's code prevented them from most tasks of what they would consider justice, although killing one loyal to Makuta would be the opposite...

"Where are our fellows?" I ask her.

  • OOC: Just thought I should note that Nialus, being a recruit of old, should be instantly recognizable to the other Outsiders (well, most of them).

    IC: Marauder

Marauder plopped down into a chair and nodded. "Righto, sarge - wouldn't want to lose my glistening ivories - "

At that moment, the one-eyed Skakdi turned and strained to see something outside the door."Zero's back, mates!" He proclaimed happily.

Marauder twisted around in his seat, desperately trying to see.

What he made out was a smokin' hot female Skakdi leading a band of three other beings to Obsidian. The grin on his ugly face enlarged, and his serpent-like tongue flickered out and around his lips before darting back in.

    Part 2, Book 2, Chapter 3

    Ayar raised her eyebrow.

"Fine? You don't look fine. Honestly, you're practically collapsing, Rekhyt. And you really don't want to be going into what's planned later today in your current state. Scholar told me. As for you, Veneras, you'll want that leg healed as well, I guess?"

I'll make one exception, Ayar thought. One sin. Forgive me, Makuta.

    IC: Veteran.

Veteran recognised the hungry look on Marauder's face, and eagerly awaited the moment when Zero would... remove it.

Veteran had once sort of had feelings for Zero as well, but he'd lived long enough to recognise the type of girl who was simply not interested in romance.

Marauder ignored the words of the Skakdi and Vortixx - instead, he turned to the Toa.

"Really? How interesting... I was once the same way." A strange look entered his eye. It was a brief moment of sanity, as he recalled his checkered past...

He shook it from his head. "Didn't last long," he said with a chuckle. "One moment you're fearless and determined, the next thing you know, you're insane. But the eyes of madness are sometimes clearer then the eyes of reality... sometimes." He giggled madly, something he did often.

  • IC Gresak:

The Skakdi looked at the Matoran walking steadily towards him. This was what Ko-Koro used as soldiers? "Oh well.", he muttered, "I shall show them their folly.". And with that, The Sniper fired. The blast hurtled towards the Matoran... And suddenly the Matoran was not there. He was a foot to the right, looking at Gresak and continueing his pace. Gresak growled, rising to his feet and putting his rifle on his back. So what if the Matoran could dodge? He was still no match for a Skakdi trained to kill. Gresak pulled his Patero launcher from his belt, pressurized it, and fired a projectile at teh Matoran. Suddenly a bamboo disk was in the air, on a collision course with the dart. The Matoran had moved so fast Gresak hadn't seen him throw the disk. The Matoran broke into a run, and Gresak did too, holdstering his Patero gun. Gresak charged at teh Matoran, his fist out, and suddenly he felt a hard kick in the back that sent him sprawling. He got up quickly, and blocked the fist that was sent hurtling towards his face. He kicked out at the Matoran. The Matoran tried to dodge, but not fast enough and was sent spiraling into a snow drift. Gresak threw a grenade and ran. Moments later, a boom told Gresak, along with a scorched Kanohi that was flung into the air, that the Matoran was no more.

    OOC: There you go, Timageness!

  • IC: The Champion (Obsidian Outpost)

The biting cold air burned my lungs after a few hours of jogging, but I ignored the ache. I do not avoid pain, I'm not afraid of it. For me, it is a way for my body to tell me if something is wrong. Now, my body isn't used to cold air yet, so my body tells me that something is wrong with the air I'm breathing: it's too cold. But I can teach my body to adapt, learn that the cold air is not dangerous. I must teach not only my mind, but also my body to fight in a freezing enviroment. It is not the strongest who survive, but those who are capable to adapt and learn.

The Obsidian Outpost is finally within sight. Here, closer to the volcano, the air is slightly warmer, for the mountain is constantly spewing lava, that flows through the nearby Ren Drom break. Or was it Tren Krom? I can't remember, not that it is important. As I approach the fortified outpost, I see some people gathered in the courtyard. Seems ike Veteran, Forger and some others. I'm slowly starting to learn their codenames, which are thankfully meaningful words instead of typical cryptic names. That way, they're easier to memorise.. Wait, is that Zero coming back with the recruits? Seems like I came back just in time. Maybe I can finally start beating up recruits and see if they know how to wield a weapon.

  • IC: "Fight a member, huh? Figured something like that would happen," Verulas mumbled as he smiled, ignoring the fact that he himself was ignored.

    So much for his nap...

He moved his arm around in an attempt to ease the pain in his shoulder as he held his bandaged side. Hopefully fate wouldn't find it necessary to cause him and that pesky Ta-Matoran to cross paths again; the last thing he needed was a half-pint with a grudge interfering with his future contracts.

The Bo-Toa grasped a piece of his tattered, and now apparently charred, cape, using it to wipe the blood off of his face and cursing silently as the fabric rubbed across one of his burns. He also wondered what happened to the Ta-Toa he had encountered back at the hospital. Granted, he probably would've became a thorn in his side too if given enough time, but it would've been a shame if he succumbed to his wounds or the weather before they could finish their fight.

It seemed the universe did balance out the good and bad after all.

"Consider your debts put on hold. Your services, depending on how long you decide to stay, will be payment enough for the time being."

The Su-Skakdi noticed Champion on the slope ahead of them. There were also few beings she had never seen before, as well as a handful of Matoran boarding the cable car. Possibly new recruits, but she remained cautious, and called out to the mace-wielding Vortixx as if he were a stranger.

"Excuse me." she said, waiting for him to approach her. She wished to ask him about the Outpost's current affairs without interference.

Marauder snapped the fingers on his right hand and pointed at the Vortixx. "There ya go - my new motto! You know what they say - 'Do what you can as a merc - you never know how long till your death'. And by the look your giving me, I'll assume that's pretty soon."

    IC: Nialus

Nialus's mind had trouble grasping what Zero had just said.

"W-what? But... the debt was huge! Surely you cannot simply drop it!"

His pulse quickened and, despite the cold, sweat formed on his brow. A mixture of emotions flew through him at once, and he had to exert a lot of effort to concentrate. It had been so long...

Nialus tried to calm down and appear both formal and menacing as Zero summoned a nasty-looking Vortixx to her. The Toa's appearance un-cloaked was usually enough to dissuade questions, but on the off chance that it wasn't, he liked to evoke fear through mystery. He pulled his hood down as best as he could in the wind and gripped his Great Axehammer tightly.
