"Noted." I nod to Veteran. "His last request was for a drink."

I frown. "What would you have asked for?"

"For them to not kill me, mate. Duh."

Upon hearing the mention of violence (Guanhumi knew a few words here and there and could read the atmosphere), Guanhumi began chittering nervously.

    Tracer, meanwhile, continued being confused.

  • IC: "She's offering to heal your leg, not trying to put a sword through your face," Verulas said out loud.

The Bo-Toa's eyes wandered around the room, catching sight of the sheet of Protodermis in all of it's hastily-constructed glory. It seemed thicker in some spots than others, but what really called his attention to it was the fact that it rested unevenly with the rest of the room. She had either hired a terrible interior decorator, or tried to hide something a little too quickly. If it was indeed the latter as he suspected, he figured it would be best to inconspicuously keep an eye on her and not point it out to the others.

"The least you can do is show her some gratitude, but if you really don't want her patching you up, I'll be more than happy to take your spot. Unlike you, I've been getting tossed around like a rag-doll ever since I came back to this Nui-forsaken tundra, and I'd like to be at the top of my game when the others decide that it's time to beat the Karz out of the new recruits."

Veneras nodded in apology at his obvious nervousness. "You are right, I should be grateful" he admitted as he nursed his left leg, and his right side was leaking blood through his armor, filling in the religious carvings with bright red.
Veneras was not sure of Ayar's religious beliefs, but the room just had a feeling that went against Veneras like fire against ice

Zero approaches me, three recruits behind her: one purple Toa with a ridiculous weapon,  a short, grey Lesterin woman and an another Toa, red and black with a cleverly modified armour and mask. All of them carry weapons, and only one of them seemed to be a competitive fighter. "Excuse me", Zero says when I approach, just about to greet her. "Yes, what is it?" I ask. There is something in her tone that implies that she doesn't know me. Do I have to pretend like I don't know her either? I already had to act like this place isn't my home yesterday. Maybe she should've built the base somewhere more well hidden, so we wouldn't need to act all the time, for ***** sake. I'm a warrior, not an actor.

  • IC (Oreius, Inu)

The Toa of Fire soon returned to the meeting place. He was accompanied by the Ko-Matoran chronicler, as well as half a dozen villagers who had missed their chance to evacuate. With no way out, they had barricaded themselves inside their huts and made ready for a last stand. The years of darkness had made sure that every man and woman on Mata Nui knew how to hold a spear; though the Guard was better trained and equipped, there were few helpless Matoran.

They had been suspicious at first, but followed him willingly once they recognized him. No other Toa wore that peculiar mask, walked with a slight hunch, and carried the sword of Tahu himself. So they followed, quickly and silently, as Ko-Matoran are apt to do, still carrying spears and blades.

    IC: Kimala

"One Matoran, whom you already had beaten," she pointed out. "Neutralizing the threat she posed would be a matter of five minutes at most. She lost her hand once, she could lose it again." She grunted, then her annoyed tone gave way to a respectful one. "Well either way, she's gone now. I'll follow you, Toa Maru."

    IC (Korero)

"She wasn't going to go down without a fight," Korero countered. "And although it probably wouldn't have taken me more than five minutes anyway, those minutes are better used getting innocents to safety. Protecting comes before punishing."

It was clear that the Toa of Air wasn't going to be argued with.

"Now, I'll take you to Oreius—he and I need to regroup—and then we'll see what needs doing."

Without waiting for a reply, Korero clapped a hand on Kimala's shoulder and activated his Hiko. The two of them disappeared in the mask's characteristic flash of white light.

    -

They rematerialised outside Reordin's hut, where Oreius and the Ko-Koronan's he'd found were waiting. As the Toa of Crystal regained her balance after the unsettling experience of being whisked out of the world and then thrust back in again, Korero strode towards his Toa-Brother.

"Are these all the villagers you could find?" he asked.

  • OOC: Whoa, whoa, whoa - "purple Toa clown with a ridiculous weapon"? First off, he's mostly black/gunmetal gray, and even so his cloak hides most of the purple. Secondly, ridiculous weapon?! One side bashes, the other cuts - what could be more effective, especially in the hands of an Onu-Toa? And "clown"? Please... he was a warrior before a shopkeeper, and while he's not as fit as before, he's still quite intimidating bulk-wise. He's also intelligent, which means he's not just standing there with lanky arms and drool pouring from his mouth.

    IC: Marauder

"Well," Marauder said, folding his arms behind his head and leaning back in the chair. He looked over at the Skakdi. "You never told me your name either, brother. Is that common around here - nobody knows anyone else's name? After all, I did tell you mine..."

With the two Matoran I'd coerced into following through the streets in tow, I finally returned to where I'd run into the Toa Maru. Oreius was leading a small group of villagers, naturally, while the Maru of Air it seemed had brought in reinforcements, a Toa of Crystal that I actually vaguely recognized.

"So how are we going to get the villagers out?" I asked to no one in particular.

The Ta-Skakdi was really tempted to start talking again, but, truth be told, even he had his limits. He was hungry, thirsty, and exhausted, and if it was just going to cause more tempers to rise, he might as well shut up.

Wait a moment - since when have I cared about raising the tempers of other?

He shuddered - hopefully. he wasn't losing his touch. Nah, it's just the exhaustion. It'll pass - I hope.

She squeaked in a surprisingly girly way as she blinked back into existence. She'd done what she thought was brace for the jump, but she quickly realized this was one of the things you couldn't brace for. You just had to get used to it. She squatted down and rubbed one of her temples, trying to soothe the steady ache that the jump certainly hadn't improved.

Despite herself, she smiled a little. She'd never known Korero personally, but them both being from Ko, she'd heard people talk about what he'd been like before becoming a Maru. How being a Toa changed things.

Her smile disappeared, however, as the thought occurred to her that this had, indeed, once been his home. He'd let go of it for Le-Koro, and now stood in its ruins. She wasn't dealing with a Toa who didn't understand how she felt.

    "Oh..."

"Our guests don't seem to've noticed the boss lady yet," Veteran pointed out. There was a wall in the way, after all. "I think it's time I told them they've overstayed their welcome."

    IC: Dayeth.

"The main bridge seems to have been blown up," Dayeth mused, taking in the carnage. "But those side bridges look to still be intact," she pointed out the other bridges spanning the ravine.

I think for a second, but then decide that it matters not, and go to cross the left one.
It is not as large as the main bridge was, but is sturdy enough for us to make our way across quickly...

Once we are on the other side, I say to Dayeth: "If attackers come, I can collapse the bridges if it comes to it." I turn and continue towards the Sanctum...

    Part 2, Book 2, Chapter 3

Having healed Rekhyt, Ayar moved onto Veneras

"Broken leg, huh? Well, there's not much I can do for that. The best I could do for you without removing your leg and replacing it with a robotic one is to brace it with protosteel. I should be able to move your bones back into place with my elemental powers, but then it'll have to heal by itself." As she waited for a response, Ayar looked over to find Rekhyt fast asleep against the wall.

"Oy, sleepyhead. You're all healed. Go find someone and ask when the trials start. How bad are yours, Verulas?"

Razsk watched Dayeth and Mortem cross the left bridge from the corner of a building, only a small potion of him visible, and completely silent.  Since he was not a merc, he had not gone with the others back to their hideout, but had instead hidden and waited to see what Mortem would do when he awoke.  Despite his rather obvious figure and very little agility, he had been able to remain undetected by not making a single noise, one of the perks of being a toa of sound.

Only the cut hasn't recieved prior medical treatment, but I'd appreciate it if you had a look at the others as well just to see if you can heal them up faster," Verulas said as he sat down and removed his cape and the bloody bandages so she could see the wounds better. "The stitches in my shoulder and side will have to be removed as well if you can close those wounds, but I think that's all I'll need to have done afterwards."

The Bo-Toa wasn't surprised at all by the fact that the Fe-Toa apparently knew his name; he was on their recruitment list, and they were spying on him after all, so he thought nothing of it as she went to work on his injuries.

"So...," he said smiling. "It seems I'm at a disadvantage when it comes to the name-game once again. People should really start introducing themselves more often."

Her smile faded as she recovered the serious stature a leader like herself needed to maintain.

"What's the status? Do we have guests?" she put extra emphasis on the last word so that he would understand her meaning. She didn't want to unsettle the new recruits. If there were 'guests', however, she needed to explain to them fast. With a group of maniacs as fruitful as The Outsiders, secrecy was something she consistently struggled to maintain.
