IC: Tyrus / Center of Town
"Indeed," Tyrus added, glancing back to Tarkah before giving Talli a smile. It was warmer than the one he'd given the newest private; he'd practiced this one in the reflection of a medical tray while his arm was being healed, and he felt that it was quite convincing. "Private Tarkah here was just filling me in on these imperial envoys we now find on our doorstep.
"Speaking of which," the Lesterin added, "I hear that we have you to thank for providing our friend with a name. I imagine the bureaucrats are breathing a sigh of relief."
Maintaining the smile, he proffered a hand to the Ga-Matoran.

IC:
For a single moment everything was still, from the air and sea to the blood pulsing through the Le-Toa's veins. All was still save her mind, struggling to process the seemingly impossible event that was occurring. An instant later, the world started spinning again as she lost focus on her mask, causing Tillian to unexpectedly have to support her weight. The sudden shift in center of gravity led to one very simple effect. The board slipped away, and both dropped into the water.
Pawing her way to the surface, Liara spluttered. "And what do you think you're doing?"
IC:
"Swimming," Tillian said skeptically.
-Tyler
IC:
"You know very well what I mean, so stop being a ********."
IC:
"I'm...really sorry I upset you."
-Tyler
IC:
"It's... It's fine." The Le-Toa sighed, almost absently massaging her temples with her fingers. Her eyes were half closed as her brain worked to undo the mess of reactions and opinions it found itself in. "You caught me off guard, that's all. I didn't expect it. Still don't, but you didn't do anything wrong."
IC:
"You want an ice pack or something?"
-Tyler
IC: Vakua glanced at Kalyss, overlooking the crowd. What do you say? Meet and greet?
Kalyss raised an eyebrow. "It would probably be best. I wish Casanuva was here, I'm sure he would love meeting new women."
They approached a particular toa-sized Dasaka that appeared to be wearing a Pakari. She seemed to be showing off some sort of swords made from... something? They didn't look like they were made of crystal, like their other weapons and armor.
"You newcomers must certainly like crystal. Never thought I'd see it used as armor, though."
IC: Mirra.
Leaving Wisp at the dockside to admire the submarine, Mirra followed Kalyss, observing the crystal-clad newcomers.
IC:
"... For what?"
IC:
"You're squeezing your head like it's about to pop."
-Tyler
IC:
"Not medically induced. You cause a spike in tension that leads to a tension headache."
IC:
"Oh.... Sorry."
-Tyler
IC:
"Not what I meant." The doctor sighed again, using her element to push Tillian close enough to grab him and pull him into a hug.
"You're not what I'm used to. And having you around makes me have to work at behaving the way I normally do. It makes me a little tense, sometimes. Not your fault."
IC:
"So...okay, wait. Yeah. Okay I got you." Tillian looked back over his shoulder and plopped back down on his surfboard; the wood bobbed under the water and then floated back up. "You want to head back to shore?"
-Tyler
IC:
"Til," Liara complained, gripping his wrist to keep him from getting too far away. She paused a moment, as if trying to reach a decision. "I know that tone, and if you'll stay still and quiet, I'll explain."
"I'm... Quite fond of you. That hasn't always been easy to deal with. Having you come back is conflicting in a lot of ways. I know I said I wouldn't beat around the bush, so..." Quickly, she tugged him into a kiss, only pulling back a moment later.
"Don't pout."
IC:
Tillian's brow furrowed in confusion when they'd pulled away, but slowly lessened, and his face spread out in a massive grin; he looked three years younger in the space of seconds.
"Kay."
-Tyler
IC Tuli
(Ga-Koro, Marine HQ):
"Vesun saved another Ba-Toa's life but fell unconscious, so we took him to safety."
Ic:
"Hey noisy, if metal is rare where they come from, don't you think giving them widgets is enough to really mess some stuff up?" Beynii asked.
IC Girah:
"Well, I don't know." Girah pocketed the change again, looking a bit befuddled. It seemed like everyone was so uptight about this whole affair. It was not as if the arrivals were automata. People needed something more along the lines of empathy and enthusiasm rather than input and output. Still, the De-Matoran brought up a good point. "How rare is metal exactly? In your land I mean."
IC: Treize
"Think everything's under control now?" asked Treize, looking over at Darien.
IC:
"Metal is extremely rare. There is only one blade crafted entirely of it, and it is the Imperial Executioner's symbol of authority, handed down from generation to..."
Sinshi's voice trailed off, as an entirely different subject caught her attention. Just then, she had heard it. In this world of silence only the voices she had grown accustomed to could ring out, sending their unique tune out into the void beyond. The Archepelago's mental plane was a complex song, voices mingling together to fill the air with thought. Here, in the isolation of Mata Nui, a new note had joined the air. Briefly, just for a moment, but it had been there. Identifiable, yet unfamiliar. It didn't fit, not the way her comrades did.
Her eyes scanned the crowd around them subtly, searching for the source. Maybe she'd imagined it.
.:Did someone else hear that?:.
"You newcomers must certainly like crystal. Never thought I'd see it used as armor, though."
IC Budge:
The Burnak, which had at this point made his way around to the center of the group, jolted it's head upright. As if someone had called its name or marked out a treat or labeled a Rahi to be pursued. Its ears tilted and perked on its head, listening. Then, seemingly satisfied, but still on edge, its head went down. The ears still stayed up, however.
Ic:
These people are weird, Aeolus decided, yawning.
Dont be rude Aeolus.
Its not being rude, it's being honest. Big difference.
It's less of a difference than you think, Aeolus.
IC: Vakua cradled his chin as he examined the crystal.
In theory I could use it as a sonic focus, if its anything like quartz or glass. Any movement would mess with vibrations, though.
Kalyss rolled her eyes. "You're starting to sound like Casanuva."
I think he would be busy examining something else here.
IC: (Mura)
The others didn't seem to know what the newcomers were either, but as Mura followed Kalyss and Wisp, he got a better look at them...
On closer inspection, they were definitely more like toa than lesterin, but the Su-Matoran was now catching sight of matoran-like versions of them too.
At the strange being's reply, Mura moved to the front. He was tired of people saying that they didn't know who these beings were, so he was going to ask one himself.
"This might seem like a strange question, but...what actually are you?" as soon as the words left his lips, Mura realised how ridiculous they sounded, but he needed to know.
IC: Asa
"We're Dasaka," Asa replied matter of factly, as if it was common knowledge.
OOC: I assume that the Dasaka aren't common knowledge (I know they arrive once before, but that wasn't well known...was it? - correct me if I'm wrong)
IC: (Mura)
Mura was about to say "Dasa-what?" but realised it was pretty cliche.
"Um...and what is that?"
IC: Mirra.
While Kalyss and Mura had been asking questions, Mirra had been studying the armour worn by the new arrivals. It was definitely crystal, and that gave her an idea.
Focusing her elemental energies, she created layers of crystal over her own armour, moulding and reshaping it until she was satisfied that it looked similar to that of the Dasaka.
"What do you think?" she asked Kalyss, Mura and the Dasaka they'd been talking to.
IC:
"You have an atrocious vocabulary. And an equally atrocious conversationalist."
IC:
"Meaniehead," Tillian shot back.
-Tyler
IC:
"See? You're just proving my point." Her Kanohi pulled her out of the water to float lazily in the air once more, a swift and careful application of her element letting her dry off. The resulting hail of water droplets dropped on the Ba-Toa's head as she wiped a little water out of her eyes.
"And yes. Yes I am."
IC:
Tillian wrinkled up his face in a pouty sneer again and then patted the space on the surfboard next to him.
"Sit with me?" he asked. "I want to watch the clouds."
-Tyler
IC:
The Le-Toa briefly pondered a quip, but after a momentary pause descended to sit on the surfboard. She propped her head up on her arms again, using her mask to keep her back supported as she leaned back. The doctor was undoubtedly showing off, but she didn't comment as she kicked lazily at the water.
IC:
A few seconds later, Tillian elbowed Liara in the cheek; he had adopted a similar posture.
"We have the same mask, nimrod."
-Tyler
IC:
"So? I use it better."
IC:
"I'm not doing this with you."
-Tyler
IC:
"That reminds me. You're a Toa of Gravity, why the Karzahni do you wear a Kadin?"
IC:
"Same reason you do. You're a Toa of Air, why don't you just screw around with some wind currents? Using my powers to make me a little less heavy...that's not flight." Til tapped his mask twice with a finger and grinned. "This is flight."
-Tyler
IC:
"Because using wind to even lift myself off the ground requires a lot of effort. I'd need a glider to be able to get anywhere." The doctor mulled over the answer, finally nodding. "I see your point, though. Even then, it wouldn't really be flying the way a bird flies."
