  • OOC: You do know that the green Le-Matoran over your shoulder was killed earlier, right?

IC: "Yeah, we'd better move." I check where the Le-Matoran died, and he did in fact die. Our group runs to Le-Koro, and we eventually arrive. I call out: "Is anyone here? Hello? Any survivors?" I continue yelling at the top of my lungs.

"Hm, no one here so far. Say, where are all the bloody beetles?" Izzun set down the dead Matoran and look for a patch of ground. "This will do" He proceeded to start digging frantically.

I sigh in relief when the Turaga informs us that they must have moved on. I walk over to where the Ko-Toa was crouching, digging a grave for the Le-Matoran.

"You know... I'm sorry. For trying to kill you. Well, that wasn't really me, but, regardless..." Izzun stopped me. "Did you know him?" he asked, lowering the body into the grave. I sighed. "No. Not a bit. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time." Izzun sighed. I got up, hiding my sadness.

OOC: I'm like the Samwise Gamgee of the story now, I guess. Just wait for a super inspirational quote that drives our heroes to victory. :afro:

  • IC: Inside, Tuki's heart skipped a beat at the sense of urgency and need; she supposed this was what a Toa was meant to do, but that didn't make it easy.  Still, she might as well play the part as long as she was one.  ''I'll help.''  she responded simply as she guided Kiru over to the group.  ''You have a plan, Trava?''  Tukeli certainly didn't have one... she'd always been more of a follower than a leader.  Either way, this was her home, and she would do anything to protect it.  Though it would be nice to live to see tomorrow.  She wasn't sure what these beetles were, or what they could do.  Perhaps this time, it would be enough to know that they were the enemy.

    IC: Trava (Outside Le-Koro)

"'Fraid not, I was never much of a planner, I work on instinct."

She stepped to the side and swung by a low-hanging branch into a nearby tree, standing on the thick branch whilst surveying the area.

"And my instinct is telling me to get moving before the beetles reach the main course"

  • IC: Akhulii

Akhulii did his best to keep up with the party the whole time. He was fascinated but also scared when he saw the toa use their elemental powers. They were just so... strong.

When they ran for the Koro, he was constantly tripping and the distance left him coughing for air. How do toa run this fast? He was definitely out of shape. All those years being crouched up in a hut left him like that. Should've joined the swimming team...

He caught his breath and then noticed the dead Le-matoran that Izzun was carrying. The sight saddened him and made him want to crall over and die. He didn't even know his name, and yet he was killed so cruely, almost casually with nothing but a scream to mark his last seconds. Was this what the world has become? A dangerous cooking pot that would eventually kill you, one way or another? Akhulii sighed with sadness. He may have not known him, but in the end at the very bare bones, he was still a matoran, just like him, and deserved his sympathy, even as a corpse.

When the grave was finished and the body was lowered, Akhulii shushed them all, "Turaga, will you bless the one we lost today and his funeral? It's the least we can do for him now..."

They all stood silently as the quick, but no less sad ceremony was done. Mata-Nui protect his spirit...

It was hard to suppress my tears. I hadn't known him any better than any of my fellow questers, but I had put him in danger in the first place (well, it was really a sentient vine controlling me, but still). I walked away after expressing my regrets to a body that could no longer hear me. I began looking for any survivors in Le-Koro. "Is anyone there?" I asked. "If you can hear us. shout! Please! We can help you!"

    IC Izzun

"It's such a shame," Izzun said as he filled the hole with dirt. "He went out without even the slightest flame." He grabbed a stone slab and began to use his claw to scrape out words on it. The others looked around with tears in their eyes, while Izzun planted the gravestone into the earth. It read:

     " :l: :e:- :m: :a: :t: :m_o: :r: :a: :n:"

Izzun suddenly straightened up, a curious look on his face, and stared in the direction of the beetles. He proceeded to run into a house and bring out a loaf of bread. "Look at this! If those beetles were so hungry as to tear through solid buildings, then why did they just leave this fresh loaf of bread?" The others stared and wished he could make at least an ounce of sense. "If they were scaring the entire Matoran population away, then why did they proceed into the forest, and leave all this stuff behind? I think something forced them to come this way."

I looked at the bread with dread. "Maybe..." I choke on the words. "Maybe they aren't trying to attack Le-Koro. Maybe Le-Koro was just in the way."

"What are you saying?" someone asks. "You all saw how the beetles just went straight through where we were. They didn't try to seek us out and kill us. They were just on the warpath to... to somewhere else." I draw a crude map of Mata Nui in the dirt. "Le-Wahi is already the farthest south Wahi. They could be heading any where. Po-Koro, Onu-Koro, even Ta-Koro. And heading to Ta-Koro would mean going through Po-Koro. Not Ko-Koro, mind you, since the frost would kill them. But we need to study them, see if they're heading elsewhere, and warn the rest of the island."

He grabbed the broken tree and chucked it into the distance. "So I broke a tree. Did you ever forget the bloody beetles did the same thing, and you didn't go Pompeii on them, now did you? and they're destroying them as we speak!" The loud crashing sounds could still be heard. "And if you consider the blasted wooden poles growing 'round here to be better than living flesh and blood," He stomped next to the headstone. "Then it will be my honor to display your rotting corpse as a symbol for what happens to those selfish beings who approve to the murder of others around them and themselves as opposed to watch a twig break!"

IC: Tukeli gave the smallest nod in response to Trava's answer.  She wasn't really comfortable acting without a plan.  She preferred organization, because to her it meant that things were less likely to go wrong.  However, Trava seemed to know what she was doing, so the Ga-Toa didn't argue with her mindset and joined her in scanning the area, for what she assumed to be any sign of the beetles.

''And my instinct is telling me to get moving before the beetles reach the main course''

Tukeli immediately turned her head to face Trava again, and stiffened.  She could only assume that the Lesterin was referring to the Koro... they couldn't let that happen.  There was no point in making that thought known... it was crystal clear.  She didn't think they should rush in until they knew what to do, but since Trava and the others likely had the same goal she did, Tuki decided to stick with them for now.  When the time did come, that might change, but at times it was better to think about the present than the future, in her opinion.  Quietly, the Toa moved her gaze away from the Lesterin, and scanned the nearby unfamiliar faces.  She kept a tight hold on Kiru, however; tense situations made him more hostile.

If you can conduct yourself without having to follow the Virtues, there is no wrong in that, but do not belittle those that need their guidance, as there is no wrong in that, either. He unintentionally forcefully tapped Ryzen on the shoulder. "Hey, quit your arguing." Izzun then quickly lathered his other hand in ice spikes,  and smashed it into the ground. A quick second later, a much, much larger ice spike got too close for comfort in front of Sain, and then burst. "Let's put it this way, you disrespectful freaks. If I wanted to, I could rip out every internal organ in your bod-dy, even in my grog-g-gy state." he finished, letting out a snarl. "So,if you're done bursting each other's brains out, we're making ourselves look like a bunch of uncontrolled imbeciles in front of our guest." Leaning on Ryzen, he suddenly felt like he could pass out any second. "Say, do you have anything like caffine on yah?"

  • IC: Akhulii

Akhulii was very nervous. First, he had no idea whether they were in trouble or not. Their guest made him feel uneasy and he had no idea if the rest of the Koro was safe.

But one thing he did recognize is that there were a lot of emotional titans on this team. He tried to respect everyone here as much as possible (expecially considering how much stronger they were than him) but he could tell that wasn't keeping things from going to blows. He stayed a little closer to turaga Haki, for though he and Ryzen had been traveling for a little while now, he didn't feel comfortable with Ryzen's very strong ideas.

Sure, he didn't exactly wake up every morning simply dreaming about the three virtues and his duty to Mata-Nui, but he still felt that they were there and should be respected. Ryzen seemed to be looking through a very different lense, perhaps a much darker one than he knew. Ryzen seems to have seen a lot in his days, and from what he's gathered not all very pretty. Was could be so bad as to make him lose his faith in the virtues placed by Mata-Nui? Was there simply so much darkness in the world that the light was no longer visible? Was there any light at all.

Akhulii hated thinking about these types of things. Chemistry? Alchemy? That he could do, but he was never much of the philosopher.

He observed the Bo-toa. Lain was it? He was definitely looking to do business with this one, but he would rather get him alone. He seemed to be one of some attitude, but Akhulii wasn't looking for company in any book clubs anyway.

Izzun was a whole other story. Akhulii was somewhat frustrated with this one. Sure, he was loyal to Mata-Nui from what he could tell, but he was a very powerful being and could do a lot of damage if not kept under control. He decided it would be best to stay on his good side.

He was still uneasy about that Le-matoran as well. He seemed to be cured of whatever strange infection had gained control of him before, but Akhulii would prefer to do a blood test before he could say for sure. Who knows what might still be lurking in the back of his mind... but it still felt better to be around someone of his power level, if not his height!

He looked back to the newcomer, "A name, perchance? Awful quiet..." Akhulii kept his disk a little closer and with a tighter grip. He made small scratches/tally marks in the center as he waited for a response.

  • IC: The Turaga sighs, " If it will keep the bickering to a minimum, I'll gladly oblige. But first...." He then picked up the spear, ran his finger along it, then gingerly sniffed the liquid that was coating it. "As I thought...." He then reached once more into his satchel, and produced a small vial, and another strange plant. "Last bit of this I have....." He muttered. using his power over stone, he crushed the plant into powder, grabbed a shard of ice, crushed that as well, then combined the two in the vial, shook it until the ice melted and the powder mixed in. He handed it to the Drowsy Ice toa. "This should help counter act the poison. I can't make it go away entirely, that will have to go through your body over time, but it should make you.... less prone to accidents."

    IC: Trava (Outside Le-Koro)

"And my instinct is telling me to get moving before the beetles reach the main course"

    IC: Rune

"I second that." The Vo-Toa stated simply, regarding the newcomer with an unfazed stare. "We should get going."

Varan had already disappeared into the underbrush, the two unconscious Toa swaying lifelessly over his shoulders. Detrix was apparently still spacing out. She snapped her fingers in front of his face.
