  • Loren- Ta-koro

IC: Having been in midair, Loren simply dropped out of the superheated area. Landing on the roof of the building below him, the Guardsman activated his mask, vanishing from that spot and reappearing in front of the second skakdi, short swords stabbing at his chest.

  • OOC: Note that attack descriptions do not automatically apply unless you so choose- I do not think you will.IC:Iiasmir leapt back, catching the downswing of the attack, which bounced harmlessly off of his tough armor. He quickly formulated a plan of attack. "Die," he growled, right arm cascading down in a wide arc, the chain blade unraveling and reaching out to tangle his target and simultaneously carve his armor to shreds, leaving open flesh for harvesting.Naturally, the Guardsmen would teleport away*, giving Iiasmir time to carry out the second half of his plan. He had noticed a Ta-Matoran native hiding from the carnage behind a building, some twelve feet from where Iiasmir stood. With shocking speed and agility, he leapt towards his victim and lashed out with his alternate chain. It wrapped around the Matoran's waste, fastenibg quickly and rendering him immobile. Iiasmir yanked hard, sending the Matoran tumbling through the air and landing before his captor. About this time, Loren was prepared to respond to the Skakdi's actions, but he stopped dead in his tracks when he saw the Matoran, paralyzed by fear, held in Iiasmir's arms."Stand down, or the Matoran dies."

  • IC: Turo

Turo continued blowing his horn. "Somebody's ought to hear this," he grumbled to himself. Finally letting up the bugle calls, he climbed up onto the roof of the building he was hiding behind, only to be greeted with a hostage situation. "Son of a muaka!" he thought. A skakdi (Iiasmir) was holding a Ta-Matoran hostage "Should I attack him? Distract him? Or do nothing?" Hiding behind the slant of the roof, he calculated the odds. "What I would do for one of those semi-automatic pistols," Turo thought to himself. He scanned his surroundings; hopefully that blue super-skakdi wouldn't follow him. Turo readied his balisong and picked up his blowdart pipe. Turo had a choice to make: strike quickly and deadly, or patiently wait it out?

OOC: Somebody's ought to respond to all that horn calling Turo did...

Veritas walked along the beach for approximately a few hours, or it seemed to him. After staying in Le-wahi for months, he decided to leave. Getting lost was one problem. Now in Ta-wahi, he had no idea where and when to leave.

Veri walked to a path leading away from the beach. Time to get something done, he thought absentmindedly. He continued to walk down the path.

IC: "Why is it that you people always think that taking a hostage will help? Standing down would be a bad idea for me right now. I have no way of knowing that you wont kill him anyway. Killing you hostage simply pushes you higher up on our priority list. Something you do not want."

Vanishing, he reappeared right in front of the Skakdi, Loren's blades held point first against a pair of weak points in the others armor. It would be hard to tell without being close to them, but the two short swords were now vibrating.

"So why don't you let him go?"

  • IC:Iiasmir backed up, chuckling. With his free hand, he motioned for Loren to do the same. His other arm tightened around the Matoran, causing him to gasp for breath. The Skakdi just kept grinning."That's where you're wrong. I do not care how high I am on your 'priority list.' But do you care for this Matoran's life? No, maybe I won't spare the Matoran if you stand down- but are you really willing to risk his continued existence on this hunch? Something tells me you aren't." Iiasmir put his blade to the Matoran's neck, letting Loren know that a single misstep would set him off. "You have five seconds to lay your weapons down.""5... 4... 3..."

  • IC TuroOk, so it was down to this. The Skakdi wasn't letting up, and it didn't seem that he was bluffing. Turo immediately decided what to do. Readying a stack of shuriken, he listened in on the conversation, waiting for a cue, when he heard the skakdi counting down.5... 4... 3-no more time to waste. Turo popped out from his cover, took half a second to figure out his aim, and hurled a three round burst of throwing stars at the target before ducking back down and moving to a new position. "Not all of us Guardsmen-people care for that Matoran's health-safety," Turo thought maliciously to himself. "But we do care about taking you down..."

  • OOC: As per the request of a certain Eyore- Ehem, player(:P), and after careful review myself, I'll be handling control of the NPC. If anyone has any objections, y'all know where to find me.NPC IC:The Skakdi was counting down. The Matoran was no soldier, no guard, no mercenary, of that there was mistaking it. He was a shopkeeper, had been since his old man had passed the position down when he retired, and he intended to be one until he had the chance to pass it down himself. But he was still a Ta-Matoran in his own village, and it was a rare villager that had never, at the very least, attended one of the guard's courses on personal defense, and an even rarer one that hadn't been forced during Makuta's reign to learn, however effectively, to defend himself. He was no fighter. But Karzahni take him if he was going to die without a fight. If not the shop, he had to leave some kind of legacy. He was running out of air, and frankly, he wanted to act before he ran out of courage too. Fact one; a chain coiled around his waist kept him from moving far. Fact two; a blade was at his throat. Death in all directions. He felt fear rising again, but this time it wasn't pushed back by courage; it was by pragmatism. In the next three seconds he was going to die, of that there was no doubt. Which meant he had two choices; die a cowardly hostage, or spit in his captor's ugly, wide-grinned face just once. The shopkeeper, bookish by all counts, was still a Ta-Matoran. A quiet, rasping voice cut through the terse, momentary silence."Valar... Morghulis... Piraka."One phrase, one quotation from a book he'd never managed to sell even ten copies of, was all the warning Iasmir got before the Matoran slammed his elbow back into the Skakdi's midriff with all the force the desperation of a dying man could muster. Ineffective in the long term, most certainly. But in the short term? Probably just enough pain and surprise to catch him off guard. And that was good enough.

"150 widgets? That seems a bit pricy for a slice of metal...well, a very sharp and pointy slice of metal but still just metal." I rolled my eyes.

"How much would it cost to get a dagger forged, then? Would it be cheaper? More expensive? Would the dagger be pointier?" All very good questions, since I stopped listening after he dropped the price on me.

Xaron, you can afford 150 widgets.

Yes, I can, but if I get it forged then I might be able to talk to Stronin, or whatever his name is. The tablet guy.

    Oooh, you're being smart!

This is a rare occurrence indeed.

Hey, no need for that you stupid slug. I can be smart...sometimes...it's not that rare.

IC: Not one to look a gift kikanalo in the mouth, or let the Matoran die, Loren used the distraction to his advantage. He had moved forward when the Skakdi had backed up, giving the brute space would simply defeat the point of getting into that position in the first place.

Not giving the Skakdi the chance to react, the Toa of Sonics moved his still humming blades again, one going to Iiasmir's neck while the other moved to the wrist of the hand that held the Matoran.

    Not today you kraata

Loren spoke, his voice clear, but one could hear the rage bubbling jut below it's surface.

    "I said, let go."

I tumbled forward from the unexpected impact of something. It wasn't an impact in the normal sense, not at all, but more akin to hitting a body of water at high speed. The invisible object slammed into my chest, and then I passed through it as if it were made of nothing but... sound. It did no outward damage to my silver armor, but I still felt it. Having your insides mixed up is not a pleasant experience.

Being as quick as ever, I rolled out of the impact over the black rock roof of the building, and came to standing. The Toa had already warped to another rooftop. Now, for some reason, I wasn't at all surprised to see another being, a Skakdi, jump into the fight. He, of course, proceeded to pull another into the fight, quite literally, which prompted an additional person to jump in as well.

To Karz with this. I swear this island is more insane than home. There was absolutely no reason for me to stick around, especially when the oh so brave guard was distracted. A quick glance to the street below, on the other side of the building from where all the hot headed punks were, and I was there. Dusting myself off, I continued on my way.

    (Ta-Koro, outside Soli's forge):

Hile was bored, like he often was while waiting. He was busying himself by telling Kirgan everything about his adventures. Kirgan had began to listen with great interest, but after such a long time anyone would wish to end the flow of tales drifting from Hile's mouth.
