Once again, Lai Lai stood silent for a long time, waiting for a further reaction from Rannin. It was a gift not to be bestowed upon her, for Rannin kept his mouth shut and simply stood there, almost as if suspended in time. Of all the strange people Lai Lai had met during her travels, Rannin had got to be one of the strangest. It was a different thing to be silent or antisocial, but yet a different one to have such a casual ignorance of company.

"So... you're just gonna stand here till sunset?"

    (Ga-Wahi, Naho Bay):

Lai Lai was known for her great patience, but even hers was pale compared to that of Rannin. Lai Lai stood next to the Toa for a long while, watching the waves. All was quiet, except for the occasional screech of a seabird or the scuttle of a Hoi turtle across the sand. And of course there was the constant sound of waves crashing against the shore.

After what seemed like forever (must've been hours, at least), Lai Lai thought: Screw it, I'm gonna go look for something to do.

"It was nice meeting you", she said. "I've got to get back to work though."

The candle burned dim, nearly spent.

The restaurant was still well lit, of course, but the flame on his table burnt low, perhaps only another ten minutes remaining. LoJak had been seated at the table alone for the past three quarters of an hour, waiting patiently for his dinner guest. The waiter had returned frequently, asking if LoJak would like to order, but each time the Toa of Fire refused, explaining he was waiting for someone. Although he didn't say anything, the waiter felt nothing pity for the Toa that had obviously been stood up.

LoJak knew Theriss was a busy woman, her mind on all number of things. It didn't help that something was obviously bothering, no matter how much she denied it. Her inability to count the team's earnings earlier that day was the most obvious clue she was preoccupied, so LoJak didn't worry that Theriss was late for their render-vous. She was their team's leader, and a strict one at that. She would appear, eventually.

    But first, some fresh air.

He got up, walking towards the door. The waiter gave a sad nod, thinking LoJak had finally given up. As LoJak neared the door, however, Theriss' head appeared, popping in and looking around the restaurant. LoJak smiled, a wide grin appearing alongside the appearance of his dinner partner.

"Theriss! I'm so happy you made it. Come, dinner awaits!" LoJak led Theriss to their table, helping her into her seat like a true gentleman. He found his own, passing Theriss the menu he'd already perused earlier.

"Would you like anything to drink tonight? Some red wine maybe?" a nearby waitress asked.

"Water is fine for me. Theriss...?" LoJak replied.

Across the room, the waiter was dumbstruck.

  • IC; Theriss

At first, she hadn't noticed LoJak inside the restaurant, the quick glance perhaps just a little too quick. Then she noticed him walking towards the doorway. Perhaps he had seen her first? But she supposed it didn't really matter. He was still here, which meant that she needed some sort of excuse should the question of her lateness come up. Maybe it was another business dealing, this one having gone a little less smoothly than the last one. Yes, that would work, that would work quite nicely.

The look on LoJak's face was a rather large grin, perhaps he hadn't really expected her to show up. With the lateness of her arrival, that wouldn't have been that unlikely a belief. But he was still here, meaning that it was still quite possible to salvage the planned meeting. She just had to be careful not to bring up her own lateness if it could possibly be avoided.

LoJak walked over, walking her over to the table. That was completely unnecessary, she could take a guess at where the table was from LoJak's direction of walking when he was heading towards the door. But, she wouldn't saw anything about it. It was clear that LoJak took some sense of pride from walking her to the table. That was when she noticed the expression on the face of one of the waiter, a look of complete and utter disbelief. It was as though he had't expected anyone to actually arrive, let alone someone as ornately dressed as she was. Perhaps he even remembered her from when she visited these types of restaurants more frequently.

In fact, this restaurant seemed rather familiar... Perhaps she had once had a business meeting in this place, likely one of the earlier meetings with a loan-seeker. A good first impression could make one more easy trapped beneath larger interest rates. It was one of the first things a person learned when going into the loan business, a good appearance could easily make one seem more trustworthy than they should.

Then LoJak felt the need to assist her in getting into her seat. Perhaps his attempts at kindness were going a little too far, as merely getting into a seat was nothing that needed any help with. She would have to speak to him about his attempts at being slightly too chivalrous.

As soon as he had passed her the menu, a nearby waitress arrived to ask them what they wanted to drink. LoJak only ordered water, and she had to wonder if perhaps he had already consumed his limit on alcohol while waiting for her arrival. Perhaps he had already ordered several drinks before her arrival, expecting her at any moment.

She looked over the drink menu, seeing a very large list of wines. She recognized the names of a few, and how unpleasant they tasted unless mixed with alcohol that was a little less... refined than what was available on the menu. Wine was unbearable unless it was drowned in something with a bit higher alcohol content. And nothing like that appeared to be readily available. "Water for me as well, thank you."

That was when she noticed the nearly dead candle sitting on the table, letting out the last of its light. She hadn't had time to check the hour, so she had no idea of exactly how long she had kept LoJak waiting. If the candle burned as slowly as she assumed, it had been for a very long while. But LoJak was still waiting, showing that their discussion about the dark part of his life was very important to him. It was probably just the discussion. Probably.

"I am quite certain that I've been here before, so I do believe you have chosen quite the nice place." A light smile crossed her face as she continued. "Also, I'm quite capable of seating myself, thank you." It was not a condescending smile, more along the lines of slightly amused.

Tyrus stood to one side of the bed, arms crossed against his chest, eyes looking over the broken body of Corporal Mons Shajs like those of an appraiser checking out a piece of furniture. Broken furniture; now that he had a chance to examine the Skakdi, it was all too clear that he was dying from this illness. His form was lumpy and misshapen with purple boils, stained with the remnants of failed medicines; and if his behaviour was anything to go by, his brains seemed to be boiling in his skull like a lobster in a pot.

    The Lesterin sighed.

It was still better than having found a corpse down on Dermis Lane.

"So, ma'am," Tyrus said, his voice as low and tempered as ever, "Your thoughts?"

  • IC: Voulge

Voulge stood up suddenly from the bar and proceeded to pay for the drink he had and merely left the inn. He did not leave a note for anyone or any of his team. He merely walked out the door and proceeded to walk into the streets. With each step he took he grew angrier yet he did not know why. It was like something clicked in his mind. He could feel his anger rising in him and he knew he needed to get away from buildings or more importantly the people. As he walked out of the village gates he walked across the sands towards the beginnings of Le-wahi but still within the boundaries of Ga-koro. He did not stop walking till he could no longer see Ga-koro.

It was then that he let out perhaps the most hate and anger filled scream he had ever emitted. It could be compared to a roar if he were a rahi. As he screamed he felt himself giving into the anger. It was such a consuming force one he felt was seeping into every fibre of his being. His screamed has sent several bird rahi scattering and voulge in his anger shot his hands out. One would never know if it was just mere luck or actual aim but as the shards of protosteel shot from his hands they came into contact with several birds who with a screech of pain fell to the ground, killed by the impact of falling from the sky.

And then Voulge fell to his knees and places his hands over his face as he began to seep tears. Yet these tears were not of joy or even sadness.. They were liquid anger. His voice had given out and this anger he felt was now finding another outlet. Yet within Voulge's mind what he felt was not anger.. but fear, fear for what caused such all-consuming anger and why he felt this anger.

So there, in the small stretch of jungle sat a grown toa. Crying tears of pure anger while surrounded by the bodies of several birds. Truly if anyone were to walk in on this scene they could say it was odd.

OOC: I have no idea what inspired this post nor will i ever.. it was merely a spurr of a moment thing. Also Voulge is open for interaction.

  • IC (Lohkar)

A lazy blue hand dropped an empty glass onto the table. It rolled slowly across the wooden surface, wobbling slightly on the uneven, knotted grain. Just as it reached the edge, the same hand extended a finger and gave it a light flick, sending it rambling back in the other direction and saving it from falling onto a rather large pile of recently-emptied kegs that sat nearby. It slowly came to a halt.

It had stopped at a slight angle, and as it sat there, a drop of orange-brown liquid pooled at its lip.

The hand pounced, snatching the glass up and bringing it to Lohkar's mouth to extract the precious droplet of rum.

The glass slammed back onto the table.

"More rum!" the pirate mumbled loudly.

"Physics 101: Or How I Learnt That Snowcloning Leads To Alcoholism."

Lasinia frowned at the title of the book. She had picked it up at one of those modernist general stores a few days back, and she still couldn't make heads or tails of what it was attempting to teach her. Really, alcoholism? Everyone knew that alcoholism was directly related to splicing Lesterin genes into a duck!

"This is useless!" she declared cheerfully, throwing the book over her shoulder, which coincidentally slammed into Floria's head.

There's a lot you can say about the way the world works. One of my favorite observations has to be "the Great Spirit works in mysterious ways"

If nothing else, I prefer to imagine that Mata Nui too has a sense of humor. Because that, and only that, could possibly explain why I was forced to duck under the flight path of a book called "Physics 101: Or How I Learnt That Snowcloning Leads To Alcoholism." just to see it slam into somebody else's head.

Truly, Mata Nui must've been supremely bored for making that happen.

I'd been in Ga-Koro for about a week now, and things had gone fairly well, if you look away from the fact that I still hadn't reached any sort of solution on the freelance duties Eutuchia had given me.

So now I was taking a break, hanging in some local, nondescript tavern that seemed to attract a seedier bunch. Why has I here? To be quite frank I haven't got the foggiest idea, maybe it's my heroic side that's gone in active search of trouble, or maybe my curiosity is about to brutally murder the cat.

Except the book never slammed into anybody's head. As soon as Helios had ducked under it, it had been plucked out of the air by a passing man, who opened it, a bemused expression on his face - just prior to setting it right back down in front of the one who had earlier thrown it. Unbuckling his sword from his belt, that man sat beside Lohkar, laying his sword on the bar in front of him, before shooting a sidelong glance at Lohkar and Floria both.

"I have this feeling that more alcohol wouldn't be a good thing for the either of you," he said, amusement colouring his voice. "I only just finished repairing the ship from what happened to it back in Kumu, and I don't need either of you putting any new holes in it." A glass of scotch was quickly brought to the sitting man - he never said that he had to stop drinking yet - which he took a short sip from.

"After all, if you do that I might just have to put a hole in you, let you see what it feels like," Edubard finished, a quick smile flashing at the two who were steadily drinking themselves senseless next to him.

Razak, with some difficulty, managed to get into the gates of Ga-Koro. He had to admit that a wandering Skakdi would probably draw some suspicion, but without any major weapons he could have hardly been a threat to the Koro.

After wandering around he came to a restaurant- The Great Takea. He wasn't one to turn down a meal. Upon entering the restaurant he noticed that the staff behind the counter were Skakdi. If this was a place that hired his type... well, he'd be set. Walking up the counter he confidently said to the Skakdi: "You all hiring any extra help? I'm a good worker, happy to do any food preparation or cleanup, and I'd be happy to take any work that you might be offering."

Well, that was what he intended to yell. The effects of the alcohol he'd consumed, combined with his accent, made it rather hard to understand. Either way. Reputation and position as ship's carpenter defended, Tellus let his head slam back down into its former position.

  • OOC:Vilak from Onu.

IC: Any other element would have blinked quite a bit having spent a month in Onu-Wahi, and then emerging to the surface. Plasma was an exception to the rule, their eyes naturally protected from bright light. Vilak was grateful for this, for it now allowed him to descend toward the village of Ga-Koro without having to let his eyes adjust for some time.

He reached the gate, and after explaining his purpose to a guard, he entered the Koro. The structures here were to Vilak's mind flimsy and vulnerable-though the leafy lily pads used to build this place could support weight well, a little use of his element gone wrong and some part of the village could wind up sinking. It was good that he had bladework and speed to work for him as well, rather than the destructive energy of his power alone, the hot gas that could melt and enflame so much.

The feeling of leaves and ground that gave slightly under his feet was unusual to Vilak, and he trod carefully as he made his way towards the ports. The guard had been kind enough to direct him towards the drydocks, and there were several around. He made his way over to one, labeled "Trusty Elork's Honest Drydock"- the words "Trusty" and "Honest" had been scratched out and flipped in order multiple times. In front of the drydock stood a Toa of Air with a grin as crooked as his back and missing as many teeth as he was marbles.

    "Welc'me to Elork's! How c'n I yelp yaahh?"

"Uhh...I think I'll pass on the help, thanks." Vilak moved on, moving to a more promising drydock a lilypad over. After fifteen minutes of discussion, and perhaps flirting, with it's owner, Vilak had his drydock secured, and a Toa of Plasma raced through the tunnels faster than before.

    OOC: Vilak to Onu.

    "I'm no hobgoblin."

I drawled amiably, downing my most recent shot, and setting the glass gracefully back down on the counter. I grinned surveying the people nearby. Frankly, a year back, they were the last crew I'd have thought I'd have fallen into, simply by virtue of being a crew of pirates. But they'd been a great help when I first landed on the island, and frankly, they were a great bunch. Drunken louts, they'd rob you blind given half a chance, but they were something that a lot of the supposed do gooders in this world weren't. They were good people.

"I'm far, far too handsome for that."

Okay, maybe I was overstating a little, but hey. Fourth shot, I'm allowed to be a bit of a ham. My attention was diverted for a moment by a loud purr, and something winding around my legs, and a moment later, two gleaming eyes looking up at me from the floor.

In case you haven't been listening to me, or my rumblings have somehow been lost, that's Kualsi. He's the strangest feline you ever did see. He used to hunt mice on the ship I took over here, but when that sank, he decided to jump ship with me. I call him Kualsi because I'm ninety nine percent sure that he used to harness one whole hunting. Anyway, he's a decent guy, and the crew seems fond of him in their own way, so I keep him around.

"Why are we here, again? I love a good bar, but it seems like we just... Ended up here."

"You have no control over what I drink!" Floria said in response to Edubard, slightly annoyed by his accusation. Holes in the ship? She never made any holes.

There was a pause as everyone else spoke up. Lasinia was being herself, Tellus was speaking Rahi, Edubard was being picky, and Lohkar was a fish.

    Today was a good day.

"Anyways, could somebody please tell me when we're leaving port? I'd like to get moving again. I didn't leave this Koro to just come right back to it, I'll have you know."

Floria agreed. "Yeah, why are we here? Why are we....drunk?"
