  • IC, Aurax: "I don't have much of a life story. I've been to a few places around the island, but I'm most familiar with Ko-Koro and Po-Koro. My shop used to be in Ko-Koro, but this annoying Toa of Fire melted it... so I decided to move to Po-Koro, where there are many other craftsman and inventors. I do have cousin who is an exploreer, and he tells me of his travels.""

  • ooc: To be fair, Lantz did not defeat the Manas. He only stopped them from attacking him for a little while, which I think is compltely fair, considering what Gravity can do. Even for a turaga. IC: Lantz shuddered. Even Makuta's speech was vile and contrary to the very core of a turaga. Nevertheless, The Dark One held his fate in his hands, and more. "Yes, my lord, I have a very good reason for having come to find you. You see, not to long ago I was Toa. A powerful Toa that could destroy the Ga-Wahi harbor out of simple whim. But I overextended myself. I was... ambushed, and captured. I was taken to someone you know well. Turaga Nokama." Lantz thought he heard an intake of breath from Makuta, but made nothing of it. Nokama was a thorn in The Dark One's side, and had been for as long Lantz could remember. "She stripped me of my Toa Energy as one would the peel of a fruit. She made me like herself, nearly powerless and weak. A state which I cannot abide. And so I have come to you. You are strong. You can restore my powers. And in exchange, I shall do your will and destroy the Turaga and their minions.

  • OOC: true, but the Kaita had to get PAST them, and in the MNOLG, even the two of them had their butt's handed to them on a silver platter before they managed to do so... and according to your logic, why didn't Tahu simply step forward and roast them in their shells using a fraction of his power, considering he turned an entire beach to sand? I mean isn't a good seafood dinner before visiting Makuta a good plan? you're either giving yourself too much credit or downplaying the abilities of the Manas. either way... IC "... and so I have come to you. You are strong. You can restore my powers. And in exchange, I shall do your will and destroy the Turaga and their minions. " The hideous laughter that echoed thought the chamber at that was simply unbearable. It was a mocking laughter, of one who not only saw it amusing but also erroneous. "Destroy the Turaga and their minions? The Matoran? If that is what you think I want than you truly ARE a deluded old man! AHA HA HA HA HAR HAR HAAARRRR!" It was a slap in the face to Lantz, who could only burn under the crushing weight on the Mana. "My dear, dear turaga, I do not with the Turaga nor the Matoran dead. I wish to rule them, not kill them. One cannot lord over a piece of rock now, can you?" That dark chuckle came again. "The Toa yes, those that would stand against me, yes, perhaps a Koro, but not everything, not everyone. I attack their villages to separate them, to disrupt their Unity. I make them forget their past, cause disruption, make them to do unnecessary tasks to survive, to have them disband their Duty. And only then can I make them realize it is their Destiny to have me and their Great Spirit, NOT my brother." While there was nobody present, Lantz could feel the "presence" come close, voice filled with malice "In fact, it is people like you who give me a bad name... people who mindlessly kill, and destroy, and create chaos... you are as much trouble as those pesky toa and other do-gooders around. If I wanted them destroyed, Turaga Lantz... do you not think I would have already?" The Makuta let him think on that a moment before continuing. "All of you think you know what I am after, what my game is, what I seek... how I think. You are all wrong, so wrong... you cannot begin to comprehend my thoughts. But this is all pointless banter, you clearly know everything already and are quite capable taking care of yourself, so before I send you to Karzahni with that thought, is there anything else you wish to erroneously debate? You amuse me greatly, turaga, it is such a shame you are of the wrong attitude."

  • IC: "As a matter of fact, I do. Perhaps I was wrong, maybe you do not wish to destroy the people of Mata-Nui. But you yourself said that you need to disrupt their Unity, remove their sense of Duty. As long as the Turaga hold sway over the minds of the Matoran, you will not succeed."I beg you. Please." There was a sense of urgency in Lantz's voice. "Help me help you. If you do not want them destroyed, then let me discredit them. Let me herald your Shadow across the land, direct the people's worship to you rather than your brother."

  • OOC: aahhhh... much better... :sly: IC The execution order never came. It occurred to Lantz that he was still alive, so whatever he had said must of done... well, something. "Discredit... the turaga?" the voice seemed distant, as if in thought. "I did not... think such a task would be possible, let alone anyone have such hate against them... " Lantz felt the weight of the world lift, a massive rush of air filling his lungs as the Mana got off him. Slowly he got up, seeing the two crabs noy more than two feet away, ready to pounce at a mere sudden movement. And inbetween them was a black swirling mass with two red slits at the top. "Congratulations turaga, you have intrigued me, buying yourself several more minutes. Do you speak truth about your hatred for the turaga, your wish to have them discredited? Servants do not choose me, I choose my servants... I must be sure you are willing to follow through with this. Are you willing to give your all for this, to help me bring about my reign on Mata-Nui? Are you willing to give anything to have your powers back?" "Even your soul?" OOC: choose your next words wisely :P

Probably not, what could a Matoran have to gain from lying about their element? Sure a Mask of Shapeshifting user might lie, but since they could change their colors they wouldn't make such an error. Perhaps there really were Matoran of Crystal here."I...am not very familiar with Matoran of Crystal," said Dece carefully, "What is your passive elemental feature? • IC: Lantz inhaled deeply, as much from newfound air as well as to calm his nerves. Here he was, making a deal with the The Dark One. He definitely had not imagined this scenario when he had been destroying the Ga-Wahi harbor. "I have heard tales of what your servants are like. I have heard that they are prisons in their own minds, their bodies your puppets. Much like how a Tryna would function. This I cannot williningly allow. But to swear fealty to your rule, to be your Herald in the Light - that I can do! If you allow it, I shall spread the word of your greatness and champion your cause. I will fight those that would stop you, and defend you to my last breath. This I do offer."

"But short of that, you are willing to sell your life to my cause, my power, my darkness, be my Herald to the island. You offer your body and spirit, but not the mind or soul... " There was a karzahni-long pause. "I can work with that." The Manas seemed to withdraw at a silent command. "Do you, Turaga Lantz, swear to be my loyal servant, to be my Herald, to fight along side me, to help spread my power, to obey my commands and every whim, disobedience punishable by death? And in return for this sworn oath I will grant you your powers back? Is this what you wish... toa?"

  • IC: Lantz smiled. This is exactly what he had been looking for when he had descended the tunnel to find Makuta. "I do" he said solemnly. Lantz heard a faint buzzing and felt a sense of power growing around him. This was it. Now he only had to hope that Makuta would not somehow change him in an unexpected manner that would be ironic in an evil overlord kind of way.

  • OOC: TOO LATE! IC "Then come and receive your reward... " Lantz walked forward, feeling shadows, power, strength, all return and fill his frail body. The farther he walked, the better he felt, the fear melting away like the first thaw in spring- He stopped dead in his tracks however at the sound of something moving. It sounded like the crabs, but different... lighter... more legs?" "My lord?" No answer. "Dark one?" Still nothing. "Makuta?" From the shadows stepped a creature that Lantx had never seen before. The best description was a spider, but it was strangest, largest spider he had EVER seen. It's eyes were red, a feeling of pure malice radiating from it. But the most terrifying thing was what looked like a type of disk on it's back... and it slowly began to spin, the distinct whine of power being charged up. It was at this moment that Lantz realized that maybe the bargain wasn't as good as it sounded... that he was WAY deep over his head. "Don't be afraid little one... " came the mocking voice. "Embrace the gift I am about to bestow." Lantz turned to run, but there was nowhere to go. There was the sound of the spinner launching, the sensation of an object hitting his back, the feeling of paralysis overcoming his body... He tried to scream as he felt this thing grab him, begin to drag him deeper into the darkness, his limited sense of touch registering that he was being wrapped in some sort of sticky rope... "You wished power? I shall give you power. Fear not, this Visorak spider will not harm you, the poison it generates it mutative, not lethal." The last thing he heard was the sound of laughter as his world was enveloped into darkness. OOC: I will post the transformation... later. meantime you can post some thoughts and just relax until the next post :)

  • IC: Lantz was just barely concious. He couldn't tell how much time was passing. Seconds, minutes, hours.... it was all the same. He could feel he was cocooned in some sort of... substance. Lojak thought he was upside down, but he couldn't tell. He couldn't even open his eyes. Time passed... Lantz felt a shifting sensation. It was hard to describe properly. It was like his insides were changing, moving around. LoJak felt liked vomiting, but couldn't. The part of him that was once an honorable Toa told him that was happening was wrong, but another told that the Visorak's powers were right. That they promised power, and more. And Lantz would have it all.

  • OOC: behold, my latest creation... I command you, monster... live... liiiiiiive.... LLLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVVVEEE! *thunder crashes loudly* It's... it's... AAALLIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE! IC Somewhere, in the deep dark, in the farthest recesses of the underground, a single cocoon slept. Well, to say that it slept was not accurate, for it constantly was wiggling and moving ever so slightly. To say the creature inside slept would also be an un-truth, though unconscious at times would be more accurate. Indeed, it truly WAS a creature within, no longer turaga or even toa, but something far more... disturbing. Changing. Mutating. Whatever it was before, it was not now, forever gone to a monster that slowly twisted itself into the victim within. A truly diabolical venom... and scheme. "Arise, my creation... your metamorphosis is at hand... reveal your true identity... " The cocoon began to quiver as the last and final rapid mutations took place, the entity within struggling to get free, the sounds of a wild animal emanating from inside the web-like chamber. Finally the bonds could restrain it no more, and cracks began to appear. *rrrip* "Yes... " *craaack* "Yessss... " *rrriiiipcraack**tear**skshoooooooshk* There was a small explosion of solid web as a slightly wet being hit the ground with a heavy thud. Ever so slowly it stood, its breathing labored, large, sleek muscles glistening in the dim light... and wild look a of ferocity that would shake even a toa to the core. It was a hideous monster, a cross between a toa and an animal, only angry and a LOT more dangerous. "Be silent, creature, and listen to me well. It is I, The Makuta, your Master, the one who has given you freedom and power fromand over the Turaga and those who would follow them. Come." The creature calmed slightly, taking its first hesitant steps and then bowing to one knee. "Yes?" come the hoarse reply. "You were once a proud Toa, a protector of the Matoran... but as you can see you are far from that now. What you are is a direct result of a slight... disagreement you had with the elders. Due to this they stripped your rank, your power, your identity... and almost your life. This is what they turned you into. A monster. A demon. A terror to behold. They have outcasted you for your supposed crimes." "As much as you want revenge, I must command against it. You requested power to discredit them; I have upheld my end of the bargain. You are now a living, walking example of their treachery, what they do to those that do not go along with their rules and commands. It is now time to uphold yours. Should you kill the turaga or the matoran you will only solidify what they said you were: a mindless killer. Merely spread my power, discredit their principles, destroy their sway over the matoran. Now go, Toa Hordika." There was a roar as it went galloping off tot he surface. A dark chuckle followed behind, well pleased with its work. Minds can be returned, minds can be healed, such as those who had withstood his Infection, but this mutation, this beast that was introduced into his system... it was incurable. He would forever have to deal with a wild and animalistic side... a split personality so to say. He got power all right... Laughter echoed across the chamber. OOC: well, I timed this for Halloween, so I hope you enjoyed ;) Anyway, I take it you're fairly well-aquainted with the Hordika, so I don't need to go through it with you. How you look is up to you, but you are now part animal, a lot stronger and more feral if not always in control. You have lost your mask power. You no longer can control gravity, but you DO have a spinner with gravity shots; upon impact, it can either greatly increase the object's gravity for a short spell, or greatly reduce for a short spell, your choice upon firing. The longer you charge, the greater the affect and duration, but you are vulnerable while you do so. That should cover it. Have fun! :)

He could see in the darkness perfectly, as if the sun itself was in these tunnels. He quickly made his way to the surface. He smelled the fresh air... it smelled so good. He had never truly made use of his olfactory organs before now!To the east he smelled the burning odours of Ta-Koro, the metals being purified through fire. To north the jungles of Le-Wahi, the putrid swamps and magnificent flowers. He lifted his head to the sky and howled. Wait, why did he just do that? That wasn't right. No, no only Rahi howled. Lantz suddenly realized his arms were on the ground, and that he was standing like a dog. No, that was not right either. He stood up on his hind legs. Go to Ga-Koro. Reclaim your honour. Show that Ga-Toa who she messed with. Lantz looked around. He didn't see anyone. Than who had said something about Ga Koro...? Then it dawned on him. It must be Makuta. Yes, Lantz thought, Makuta has telepathy. Why didnt I remember that? Lantz sniffed the air, turned towards Ga-Koro and run. And he had lots of fun doing it. ooc: Thanks Friar. Lantz to Ga-Wahi.

Stannis and Atiel had been had. It was a difficult fight for two matoran, but their combined efforts were enough to at least survive the two tall, skeletal beasts who hissed at their very presence. Slugs crawled in the ground and seemed to make the tree roots come alive with movement, and it took the matoran's combined might to down a tree on one of the tall creatures and bring an end to the chase. But their flight was far from over, and Stannis' mask had almost been knocked off. That was a while ago, and the two matoran finally arrived at the temple complex, exhausted and out of breath. Atiel's hammer was bloodied from smashing slugs, and Stannis was holding one of his spears in the ready position, its tip no longer as shiny as before. Stannis arrived in the midst of a discussion to split the group. Apparently, he and his friend were not the only ones who had make a touch with danger, but the others were not as patient as he was. However, he remained silent as he cleaned his spear and slid it back into its place at his back. He breathed in long, deep breaths and finally stood upright, tweaking his mask back into its place. He waited for the first cool dude to open their mouth and complain about his absence. Ooc: Have any of you played Mini Ninjas? It's wicked fun.

  • OOC: Weta from Le-wahiIC: In the forests of southern Le-wahi not far from the Kini-nui, was a hut. The hut had three rooms. In the largest room, there was a bed. On the bed lay a matoran. The matoran was dead.Toa Weta stepped forward and closed the hermit’s eyes, a tear on his cheek. For 25 years, this hermit had been his mentor. He had been truly wise, Weta thought, brought low in his old age by a debilitating disease. Now that he had passed on to Artakha, Weta was faced with a choice. He could continue to live in the hermit’s hut as he had as an apprentice, or he could go out into the world to seek his destiny as a toa, his training curtailed but complete. It was no choice at all. Long had he waited for this chance, and though the circumstances were not what he would have wished, he would take it. Looking once more around his home, he buried his mentor, used his kanohi mahiki to shapeshift into a bird rahi and took off in the direction of Le-koro.When the village at last came into sight, he noticed that a large funeral procession was taking place. While he could not tell whose funeral it was he chose to think of it as a celebration for the old hermit, who had lived a long life and accomplished much. Word could not possibly have reached the village yet, and the body they carried was undoubtedly someone else’s, but it was comforting to Weta that there should be a funeral on the day of his master’s death, even if he was the only mourner. Silently, he soared away from the village – he no longer wanted to visit here. Instead he would travel to the Kini-nui, a place where heroes had found purpose in the past.OOC:

IC: Approaching the Kini-nui, Weta saw another toa sitting on a rock. Having spoken to nobody but an old hermit in 25 years, he thought he could use some company. Anyway, two toa were better than one. He landed near the green toa and resumed his normal form.“Greetings” he said. “I am Toa Weta. Who are you and what brings you to Kini-nui this morning?”

  • IC: Dece shook his head and replied, "We didn't learn too much, but we noticed something useful, at least in theory. There are the remains of a battle here, a sprinkling of infected masks litter the ground, all damaged by blades, along with three Rama. I am not sure if the fight happened recently, but if the combatants survived they might have some information about Kini-Nui that we were unable to discover. Aside from that Lepidran spotted something happening in Le-Wahi, but with the trees in the way he couldn't read much."The Fe-Matoran looked over at the wounds of the two Matoran, wondering if they should retreat from this place. Who knew what other dangers lurked in this place, be them predator or enemy. So much about this island Dece was out of the know on, and it tormented him. Everyone here probably knew the dangers of this place, everyone but him.

  • IC: "Our expected arrival here is a bad-omen," said Lepidran, "Suggests we are being watched or thought-ahead. We should do something contrariwise to throw off any further ambushes."

  • IC(Jeni): "My dad died and this place is quiet enough for some... contemplation." She sighed. "And I, personally, would like it if you left." Jeni was still mad.

  • Ic: Stannis nodded. "We're leaving," he said decisively. Lowering his voice and signaling for a group huddle, he said in a near whisper, "Atiel, you said you've seen temples around the island. We'll head to Po-Koro, and maybe you can show us what you mean. Maybe there we can find something more. Agreed?"

  • IC: Dece nodded and clicked, "I am also ready to leave this place. By the way, where is Po-Wahi in relation to Kini-Nui, Ta-Wahi, and Ga-Wahi? I have yet to see a map of the island, so I am not sure what territories we must cross if we are to reach Po-Wahi?" The Fe-Matoran wondered what the Stone region would be like, would it be covered in great mountains and canyons, or if it would it be not so literal in form. The Matoran watched as his Ussal crab walked to the group, and lowered itself so the group could climb on. Dece decided that sometime after the Makuta threat was behind them that he would have to learn where this crab came from, and why it was so used to people riding it. Was it an escaped mount, or had its master died? Someday Dece would learn these things, if only to honor the Ussal. But that quest was not today.

  • IC, Aurax: Stannis asked if everyone wanted to go to Po-Koro. "We're going back to my home Koro? I'm okay with that." Then Dece wanted to know where Po-Koro was. "It's on the northernmost end of the island, and it is north of Ta-wahi," replied Aurax, "And there are many awesome canyons and deserts."

  • Ic: The group had spoken, and Stannis made it happen. The day was coming to a close, and the sun was slowly uniting with the horizon, so time was of the essence. Leaving the Kini-Nui was not quite as hard as getting to it, and there were actually many ways to depart from the complex. The mountains around the temple were filled with narrow canyons, and caves that dropped nearly straight down, and they usually ended with some sharp cliff face that would put the travelers in some shelf above a wahi and an eye-opening view. They were nearly unusable to access the temple, since they required toa-level rock climbing skills and tools, but they were great for leaving, as all one needed was an anchor and plenty of rope. Luckily for the team, they were not the first ones to use the one tunnel, and there were tools already waiting."Grab the rope and rappel down the shaft," Stannis ordered. "This tunnel will place you in the mountains directly above Po-Wahi. We will regroup at the bottom, in the desert. Unfortunately, only one of us can go down at a time, and I will go last. Stay safe until we regroup," he warned.

  • IC: Solaris looked at the strange tunnel at the Amaja Nui. Something bad was going on down there. He could sense it. But that was irrelevant. He could see his old friend Ghar-Knel the Vortixx assassin coming down from Mt. Ihu. And he brought a couple friends. But his memory was wiped. He didn't remember that Ghar-Knel was coming to kill him, or anything from his past. He stood and watched him come.

  • IC: Reasoning that, as he was the most agile he was the most able to get down, Lepidran went first. The others could follow his path if they wished, and he could help steady them from below when he was at the bottom. He quickly discovered this skill wouldn't be needed, as all that was needed was to bounce down on the end of the rope. Well, at least he knew what 'rappel' meant now...

  • IC: Lepidran went first, and soon he had vanished into the shadows of the shaft. Dece watched as the Matoran went down, studying his every movement. When no more glimpses of the Le-Matoran burst through the shadow's mist, the Fe-Matoran stepped up to follow his ally down. As he moved down the rope he suddenly realized that the prior technique would be simply to rebound on the rope's end. As he reached the bottom, Dece wondered why Lepidrn had tried to climb down at first. Perhaps he didn't know the right way down at first, a relieving thought for someone with only memory from the last three days. That didn't stop the Fe-Matoran from feeling vulnerable however.A part of Dece also bristled under Stannis's commands. Aside from Atiel Dece had seen Stannis the least in this group. Nichou, Lepidran, Aurax; all of them Dece had gotten to know over the course of this expedition. He knew a little of their behavior, their skills, and their weaknesses should they betray him. And to a degree he felt a sense of trust towards them, if only because they had showed concern during his vision and hadn't killed him when he was vulnerable. But Stannis was an unknown, Dece knew nothing about him. What were his motives for forming this group? What had he faced in the false fortress, and why did he expect a newly formed team to follow his orders without question? Surely he knew that trust takes tine to form, only a fool believes in people he just met. What had Stannis been before this?
